Shannen Doherty: Bad Girl No More

November 17th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Former bad girl Shannen Doherty has a new outlook on old pals, thanks to her turn on the CW’s revamped 90210.

The 37-year-old actress, who recently crashed at the W hotel’s $4,000-a-night Extreme WOW Suite in NYC while hunting for apartments, revealed to OK! what she loves most
about reprising her role as Brenda Walsh on the TV hit.

“Working with Jennie [Garth] this time around has been unbelievable,” Shannen tells
OK!. “I regard her as a true friend.”

Shannen admits that unlike in the past when the pair was rumored to have fought, she now looks forward to acting with Jennie, aka Kelly Taylor.

“Our scenes are always really good. We work really well together, and we just like each other,” she says. "People come to different places in their lives, and you meet up,” she says of her change of heart. “Suddenly, it’s like, ‘Oh, my god. I like you!’ ”

Shannen’s Back in Beverly Hills!

October 15th, 2008

Get excited, Brenda Walsh fans: OK! can confirm Shannen Doherty has signed on to do more 90210!

“She is back for episodes 11 and 12,” a rep for the hit CW show tells OK!.

The star who made Brenda famous on the original ‘90s Beverly Hills 90210 has electrified fans of the current remake on the CW, returning to the popular zip code earlier this season along with fellow Beverly Hills alum Jennie Garth.

Shannen plays a grown a grown-up version of her old character, an actress who comes back to West Beverly Hills High School as the drama teacher. Originally the star was only slated to appear in a few epsiodes, but fans have been crying out for more.

“I’ve worked for 27 years, steadily, thanks to very loyal fans," she said recently. "What’s the one way to say thank you? To play a character that you thought you’d never play again in the one show they want to see.”

Thanks, Shannen!

Shannen: Get Brian Austin Green Back!

September 5th, 2008

Shannen Doherty has already reunited with Jennie Garth on the new 90210, but who else would she bring back to the Beverly Hills zip code if she could?

"Oh gosh, Brian Austin Green!" she told reporters Thursday in NYC at the Gen Art Fresh Faces Fashion Show. "I adore Brian, and Brian and I have always had a really good, strong relationship."

However, Brian is already on a TV show, something that could stand in the way of the co-stars’ onscreen reunion.

"The only thing about bringing him to 90210 is that I wouldn’t want him not on The Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," Shannen explains. "He is so good and it’s one of my favorite shows. So I want him back really badly, but at the same time, I love watching that show and I love watching him in it."

Shannen continues the praise for her fellow actors, saying the young cast of 90210 doesn’t need much advice from her.

"They are really smart kids, they don’t need that much guidance!" she says. "They are very talented, they are all adorable, they are all sweet. The cast gets along really, really well and they’re all fantastic."

Tell us what you really think, Shannen!

It’s Official: Tori Spelling Joins 90210 Spinoff

May 27th, 2008

Donna Martin is back!

After weeks of rumors – and relentless groveling – Tori Spelling will reprise her most famous role to date in the new CW 90210 spinoff, the network confirmed Monday.

“Donna Martin will be the owner of one of the coolest stores in Beverly Hills, a shopping hot spot that is frequented by the new cast of characters,” the CW said in a statement.

Last week, cast member Lori Loughlin told OK! Tori, who’s expecting her second child next month, would return in a guest-starring capacity.

“I think they are waiting for her to have her baby and then they’re going to - there’s definitely a role for her though in the pilot, like a small little cameo thing which will be fun,” Lori said. “But then I think they’ll have her back.”

Tori, 35, is the second 90210 original to join the series, following in Jennie Garth’s footsteps.

Here’s to Shannen Doherty being the third!

Jennie Garth: It’ll Be “Excellent” If Shannen Joins Spinoff

May 14th, 2008

Jennie Garth is returning to her famed zip code in the CW’s 90210 spinoff, but will her reel and real foe Shannen Doherty be joining her?

No confirmation yet, but should it happen, Jennie says she won’t be opposed to sharing the screen with her former co-star.

"If Shannen comes to do the show… Excellent,” Jennie tells Extra. “The fans would love it. I’m a big girl. I can handle anything."

The actresses famously feuded during their time together on Beverly Hills 90210, even getting into a catfight, Tori Spelling claimed in her memoir, sTORItelling.

Tori herself is also gunning for a return as Donna Martin and reveals she’s thisclose to signing the dotted line.

"I’ve been in talks with them,” she says. “They have approached me and so I’m hoping it works out.”

With or without Shannen or Tori, Jennie is pumped to reprise her role as Kelly Taylor – a part she played for 10 years.

"I am coming back as Kelly Taylor," Jennie says. "I can’t even believe it. I haven’t even said it out loud."

The 36-year-old will be a recurring guest star on the series, which also stars another iconic 90s actress – Full House’s Lori Loughlin, who is shocked by the fan reception.

"The fans are losing their minds," she says. "How exciting is this? It’s such a great franchise, such a big success the first time around. Hopefully we can do it justice."

More 90210 casting

May 2nd, 2008

One-time Hannah Montana star Michael Steger has joined the cast of the Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off as Navid, a student at the high school who works on the school’s daily news broadcast and becomes friends with 90210 transplant, Dixon.

With only one degree of separation between himself and Miley Cyrus, maybe the Disney super-sensation will make a cameo. Now that’s smart casting!

Jennie Garth Takes Ian Ziering’s Advice

November 19th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Of all the advice Ian Ziering has given Jennie Garth for
Dancing With the Stars, the actress has taken one to heart.

“He told me to take a lot of hot baths which I do,” Jennie says at the American
Music Awards. “I get up in the morning and I have to get in a hot tub just so I
can function. Even if it’s just for like two minutes to warm my muscles up.”

The 35-year-old will test those muscles tonight in the semifinals of the ABC
hit. Ian made it to the same stage last season before being eliminated and
Jennie hopes to make it a step further, especially with all the fan support
from her Beverly Hills
90210
days. Seven years after the FOX sudsy drama left the posh zip code, the
public still knows and loves her as Kelly Taylor, but Jennie doesn’t mind.

“I mean that’s how I know when I look at someone that I grew
up watching on TV,” she says. “You can’t get that out of your head no
matter what you do, but the fans of 90210 are so faithful and follow me through
all of the different things I’ve done and now they’re out there rooting for me
on the dancing show is so it’s great.”

Her supporters extend beyond 90210 fans. The blonde beauty
received some kudos from the Queen herself — Queen Latifah on the red carpet.

“I didn’t meet even meet her when she came on the show, but
she said, ‘You’re doing a great job.’ She gave me a hug.
