July 9th, 2009 / Author: Mary Beth Quirk

Hillary Clinton/Hope DavisJulianne Moore has stepped out of the role of Hillary Clinton in new HBO Films/BBC Films movie The Special Relationship, due to a scheduling conflict, and will be replaced by Tony nominee and In Treatment star, Hope Davis, The Hollywood Reporter says.

The movie follows the unique and often bumpy relationship between President Bill Clinton, played by Dennis Quaid, and the new British Prime Minister Tony Blair, played by Michael Sheen, in the late 1990s.

Michael Sheen played Blair in The Queen, and his onscreen wife Cherie Blair in that movie will again be played by Helen McCrory. The film will be directed by Richard Loncraine, and is written by Peter Morgan.

Katie Lee Joel Adds Intrigue

Even with Bono, Bill Clinton, Jon Bon Jovi, Mariska Hargitay, Jimmy Fallon and Rachael Ray attending the Food Bank for New York City’s Can-Do Awards Dinner held Tuesday at Abigail Kirsch’s Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers, Katie Lee Joel is the biggest get of the night amid rumors of her affair with designer Yigal Azrouel.

The usually chatty chef married to Billy Joel is rushed through the press area for the first time in her life.

“Sorry, we have to pull her,” the rep says as Katie dodges reporters.

It’s a much different scenario than my experience last month when Katie was promoting ScottsMiracle-Gro GroGood campaign. She shared a pointed life lesson with me.

“Just do unto others as they’ll do unto you,” Katie told me March 18. “Treat people the way that you want to be treated.”

Time changes everything, and at tonight’s Food Bank Can-Do Awards Mariska Hargitay is rejoicing after suffering a collapsed lung earlier this year. How is she feeling?

“Much better,” Mariska says.

Jon Bon Jovi is bashful about being honored tonight.

“It’s humbling,” the brown eyeliner-wearing rocker says. “It was difficult for me to accept it, simply because when you’re doing something out of the goodness of your heart for as many years as this whole foundation has been building houses, we really don’t look for the accolades.”

What does he have to say about the dead dolphin found outside his home?

“He was trying to cross the hill to get to the house,” he jokes. “He thought he was a Miami Dolphin, you know?”

Being in the presence of this New Jersey icon makes Rachael Ray weak in the knees.

“I sang every song into a hairbrush, and isn’t that the appropriate way to celebrate Bon Jovi?” the food host yuks.

How does the Dunkin Donuts pitchwoman – who didn’t get her free iced coffee that day — encourage others to eat healthy?

“It’s very easy to eat very well, and it’s getting more affordable, thank God,” Rachael says in her raspy voice. “If you like to eat healthy, buy locally grown, go to Farmer’s Markets – it’s the last bargain left in food — and if you want to feel better about eating pasta, my favorite food group, switch over to whole grain. It’s full of fiber and protein.”

Jimmy Fallon confesses his love for Fig Newtons and vanilla ice cream. “Yeah!” his jovial wife Nancy Juvonen says. “By the way, the other thing that’s fantastic is grape nuts and vanilla ice cream. I’m not kidding. You’ll flip out.”

We spot Alan Wyse, Kim Cattrall’s boyfriend, who dishes on his SATC love, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s BFF Mario Batali, who is wearing orange crocs.

Here is Helena Christensen, who broke her front tooth Monday. Ouch! Who is the cutest baby in Hollywood? “The cutest baby is not in Hollywood,” she says in her Dutch accent. “The cutest baby’s in my girlfriend’s belly over there.” Aww!

While Emeril Lagasse doesn’t watch American Idol, he does have a reality show in mind.

“My reality show is basically you get a bunch of celebrities, and you all get on a scale and you weigh them. Whoever weighs the most at the end of the show, at the end of the series, they win. Wouldn’t that be a cool series? Just eat galore.”

Psst. The very-married chef is crushing on Britain’s Got Talent dynamo Susan Boyle. Ooh!

“She seems like a pretty cool lady,” he tells me.

Senator Clinton Doles Out Parenting Advice

May 5th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Raising children in Hollywood is tough, but not as tough as raising them in the White House.

Democratic presidential hopeful Senator Hillary Clinton spent the better part of her husband’s eight years in office rearing their daughter Chelsea, now 28, during those all-important adolescent years, and things were definitely different.

"The secret service went on her dates," Senator Clinton tells MomLogic.com during a Town Hall conference in North Carolina. "A lot of her girlfriends’ mothers loved it when they double dated because you know there was the guy with the gun in the front seat."

Getting serious, the 60-year-old bestows some advice to moms in the audience on dealing with teen dating — but not before prefacing that her experience is one in a million, noting that it was "really intimidating" for Chelsea’s dates to meet her or Bill.

"The whole dating experience is fraught with so much anxiety for everybody, certainly for the young men she’s dated," she says. "[It's important to try] to get to know both the girl or boyfriends that your kids have, being part of their lives…just to give you some insight into what’s going on and how you can understand their lives."

Being a present force in your kids’ lives nowadays is even more crucial since, with the advent of technological inventions, what is the norm now certainly wasn’t the norm back in the day.

"A lot of what kids think of as normal behavior was not even invented let alone even accepted today didn’t even exist when I was growing up," she says. "You listen to their conversations and there’s a lot of mental debate going on in your own head — ‘They’re doing what? They think it’s okay to do this or say this?’ But you have to know it in order to know how to navigate through it."

Senator Clinton also recommends carving out time for family meals together, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. Even during her husband’s eight years in office, she says the clan found time to have nearly all their dinners together.

"We always did. Sometimes I might not be there. More often, Bill might not be there. Most times we were all there," she says. Now there is evidence and if you can find that time together — boy is it hard today — all of that really helps to create the habits that undergirds a successful life."

Those dinners didn’t always go off without a hitch though.

"The first time we ordered pizza, shortly after we were there, it caused a national security emergency," the Senator reveals. "The poor pizza delivery guy was quite dumbfounded."

Hillary Clinton Is a Dancing Queen

January 15th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

If Senator Hillary Clinton wins the 2008 presidency, will she celebrate her victory by boogying down? It sure sounds like it.

The presidential hopeful, who just triumphed at the New Hampshire primary, sat down with Tyra Banks for an interview to air on the model’s eponymous talk show on Friday, and reveals her hidden talent — dancing.

Faced with the hypothetical of competing on either Dancing With the Stars, American Idol or Tyra’s own America’s Next Top Model, Senator Clinton made it clear what her choice would be.

“In my dreams I would be on America’s Next Top Model,” she says. “But in reality I would have to choose my limited talents and of them dancing is better than singing. You do not want me to sing. I think it would have to be Dancing With the Stars, especially if I could have one of those really good partners.”

Though she doesn’t specify her dance of choice, the 60-year-old is hip to what the kids are doing these days, admitting she knows the Soulja Boy and SpongeBob dances.

“I think that is a variation of what I did like 30, 40 years ago,” she says. “Everything gets recycled and gets a different name and [changes] slightly, the hip action or shoulder action, whatever it is.”

Something that may need an update soon is husband Bill’s title should his wife win the election.

"There are some of the things that have been suggested like First Mate. His Scottish friends say ‘First Laddy,’ but we need ideas,” she says. “I’ll just keep calling him Bill.”

For the full interview, tune into The Tyra Banks Show on Friday.
