Fabolous: Britney Has Bounced Back

October 3rd, 2008

Among the chorus of celebrity voices cheering Britney Spears to a triumphant comeback is Fabolous, who remixed Britney’s "Break the Ice" last year. The rapper says he’s impressed at how the singer was able to bounce back from adversity.

"A lot of people were counting her out and thinking she could never come back," he said at last night’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors in NYC. "It’s not as good as before, it’s even better. That’s an admirable thing right now."

As for her new album, Circus, which will be released on Dec. 2, Fabolous thinks Britney’s got what it takes for it to be a success.

"She’s just gotta get back to doing what she’s used to doing," he says. "Making a great album, making great songs and being herself. Being as sexy as she wants to be because that’s what Britney feels and it truly came across. Not just pleasing, just get back to doing what she’s doing."

Although Fabolous only worked on one of Britney’s songs from Blackout, he says he’d be open to working with the formerly troubled singer again.

"It was a great joint," he says of "Break the Ice."

"We’ll see what’s possible in the future if it happens again," he adds. "We weren’t able to do a video because of what was going on with her at the time but I’d love to do it again."

In the new issue of OK! — on newsstands everywhere Thursday — hunky model John Coulter, who caused a scandal when he posed as a naughty priest with Britney Spears for the inside artwork of her latest CD Blackout, talks exclusively to OK! about what did and didn’t happen on the set of the photo shoot with the troubled pop star.

“There was definitely chemistry,” the 6′2″ Arizona native tells OK!. “Those pictures were pretty tame! There were a few other crazy ones.”

And according to a friend of Britney, the single mother of two definitely felt that chemistry flowing in both directions. “She was flirting with him the whole time! She asked if he had a girlfriend and what sexual position he liked… They did share a few kisses on set, for the camera — and a few that weren’t!”

But when Brit invited John back to the Four Seasons Hotel later that night, the 20-something model declined. “He said he didn’t want to get mixed up in it all,” explains the friend, alluding to stories of Britney’s bizarre behavior and late-night boozing. “She couldn’t believe she was turned down.”

For his part, John tells OK!, “She’s going through a lot, and some of it she does bring on herself.”

Britney Fails to Top the Pop Charts

November 7th, 2007

In the last week, it had looked like a little bit of bright light was going to shine on Britney Spears‘ dark days, as her new CD Blackout was expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

But then Wal-Mart went and ruined it for the 25-year-old pop star.

The new album from rock legends The Eagles, Long Road Out of Eden, was not expected to be included in the Billboard listings because it is currently only available at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores, and until this week CDs sold at exclusive retail chains were not included in the Billboard listings. Well, it’s bad news for Brit-Brit that this policy was changed in the last few days, because the Eagles album has moved over 700,000 copies, more than double Britney’s 290,000 units.

Had this policy not been altered at the last-minute, Blackout would have been Britney’s fifth consecutive album to open at the top spot, and that would have been a record for a female artist.

Of course, when you look at the pop star’s past triumphs, Blackout is dwarfed by comparison. 2000’s Oops!…I Did It Again pushed 1.3 million units, the highest first week sales for a female artist, while 2001’s Britney sold 746,000 copies, and 2003’s In the Zone bowed with 609,000.

Britney Talks!

October 31st, 2007

Britney Spears got on the phone today and talked with Ryan Seacrest on his morning show. When asked how she spent her album release day she said, “It was cool. It was laidback really. We watched movies. That’s about it. We had fried chicken.”

Though bffs Alli Simms and a male friend were also on the phone, nobody could remember what movies were watched. Ryan tried to delve deeper into the mind of Britney. He asked what it’s like to have her life constantly scrutinized. “I try not to let it get to me,” she said, “People talk. You try to keep doing what you do as long as you know what’s up and you know what’s true then that’s all that matters.”

And he further prodded, wondering if the bad mom allegations bugged her. She kept the answer the same saying, “People say what they want and do what they do. It’s sad how cruel the world can be. At the end of the day you have to know in your heart you’re doing the best that you can.”

As far as being a good mom, Britney thinks she’s doing just fine. Yet she wasn’t sure how often she’d be seeing her kids citing that her lawyers knew all that.

She admitted this is her big promotion for her new album, Blackout. And told the world what her favorite song is, “Oh god… ‘Heaven on earth.’”

It seems Britney, who left the interview early to shower Alli told everyone, is living her version of “Heaven on Earth.”

Cover Story: Brit’s Best Friend Reveals All

October 31st, 2007

Aside from maybe Britney Spears herself, there is probably no one on this planet more familiar with the ins and outs of the pop starlet’s life in recent months than her good friend and constant companion Sam Lutfi. From the courthouse to the nightclub, the “Gimme More” singer rarely goes anywhere these days without her guy-friend Sam, which made him the perfect person to sit down with OK! to clear the air of all the rumors and allegations surrounding the former Mrs. Kevin Federline.

In an exclusive interview in the new issue of OK!, Sam talks openly about everything from what Brit’s career plans are for the future to stories of drug and alcohol abuse by the 25-year-old mother of two.

“When the state does eight random drug tests and they all come out negative, that speaks for itself,” Sam explains to OK!. “I said five months ago that she doesn’t do drugs, and now the judge is saying it.”

Well, one of the reasons so many believe those substance abuse rumors is Britney’s odd behavior in recent months, including her seemingly aimless, multi-hour-long drives around Malibu and Los Angeles. “Sometimes she just doesn’t want to deal with the paparazzi,” says Sam. “It gets scary out there for her and she decides, ‘All right, I’m just going to go home.’”

As for Brit’s tense relationship with ex-hubby K-Fed, Sam says Britney wants to remain friendly with the wannabe rapper and that it hurts her when people slam him in the press. “She doesn’t like anyone talking bad about him. He’s the father of her children.”

OK! Exclusive: Pharrell Dishes On Britney

October 30th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

It turns out that even Britney Spears‘ collaborators catch up with her through the news.

Producer extraordinaire Pharrell Williams, who wrote Blackout’s most ballad-y number, “Why Should I Be Sad,” recently revealed to OK! that writing a song about the poptastrophe’s life was easy-breezy — he just read about her in the papers.

“I basically just read clippings,” admits Williams. “I thought it’d be funny to take everything people were saying about her and turn it into a song.”

“Why Should I Be Sad” is a sardonic take on the dissolution of Brit-Brit’s marriage to Kevin “K-Fed” Federline — and mentions her supporting his Vegas habit and his alleged dalliances with other women.

OK! Exclusive: Brit’s Wild Night Out

October 30th, 2007

Wearing only a skimpy pink and black pirate-meets-French maid costume, Britney Spears staggered into the Hollywood hotspot Winston’s Monday night with her cousin/gal pal Alli Sims and a slew of female friends — and OK! was there as they settled into the very back corner booth near the DJ, slurping on Grey Goose vodka and mixers throughout the night.

According to an OK! spy, Brit spent a good portion of her evening in the ladies room, accompanied by Alli at all times. “I was in the restroom at the same time as Britney and Alli, who made sure Brit was always aware of the location of an available stall,” the witness tells OK!. “At one point, Brit even asked me which way the stall was because she ‘really had to go!’ She asked: ‘Is the stall this way or that way’’ gesturing toward one of the stalls and toward the exit back out into the club. I pointed her in the right direction. Britney took care of business without ever letting go of her red lollipop.”

When Britney was not spending time in the ladies room, she stayed at her booth and danced atop the table while sucking on still more red lollipops. The crowd went wild for the entire duration of her stay and she was clearly enjoying every bit of attention, meanwhile becoming more and more out of it throughout the night. Her very own “Gimme More” came on and everyone began to cheer, while Alli shouted to Brit, “C’mon, girl! Get up and dance!” Brit proceeded to jump up on the table and dance and, midsong, threw her hands up and jumped into the crowd, dirty-dancing with several male fans.

As the evening came to a close, at about 1:30 a.m., Britney headed into the ladies room — again — and was spotted chatting with a brunette female bartender. “While waiting for a stall to open up, Britney turned to the bartender, who was wearing a low-cut black dress, and said, ‘You have nice t*ts! Mine are all saggy!’ ” an eyewitness tells OK!. The bartender, somewhat dumbstruck by the comment, replied, ‘Thank you?!!” Brit then asked the girl, “Do you wanna change? I wanna switch outfits!! Let’s switch!!’”

“At this point, the bartender felt that she had no choice but to comply,” the eyewitness says. “The ladies proceeded to switch outfits and Britney happily walked back to her booth in the bartender’s duds. The bartender, clearly taken aback, but with a great attitude, went back behind the bar and continued serving drinks in Spears’ French maid outfit, telling patrons, ‘I’m wearing Britney’s costume, including her bra! She made me take her bra!’ ”

Brit left Winston’s, still wearing the bartender’s clothes. A memorable night by Britney Spears’ standards.
