Gwyneth’s Mom Loves Goop!

March 20th, 2009

Gwyneth Paltrow’s new mothering newsletter/website, Goop.com has lots of fans – including her own mother!

"I haven’t contributed," Blythe Danner told OK! at Quintessentially and Gilt Groupe host Valentino: The Last Emperor premiere and after-party. "Except that I know that Gwynnie’s going to have some family recipes in her next newsletter. I’m an avid reader. I love it."

High praise from the woman who taught her by example! It seems Blythe only has good things to say about her actress daughter.

"As a mother, I love what she does and spiritual tips and the different people who contribute," she gushed to reporters. "It’s a great diversity of people and a great diversity of ideas, and I think it’s really quite marvelous."

Madonna, Gwyneth Share Night Out

March 18th, 2009

Gwyneth Paltrow is the belle of the ball during the Valentino: The Last Emperor premiere hosted by Quintessentially and Gilt Groupe held Tuesday at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art.

But the real surprise is when Madonna turns up at the after-party held in the Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel. Anything for Gwyneth, the Material Mom would surely say as she saunters into the party.

“It was hectic getting ready,” Gwyneth, 36, says. “We just flew in yesterday for this, and my kids are really jet-lagged. My son had a breakdown.  But it was OK. We got out the door.”

What does she love about the designer?

“He’s from another time,” the mother to Apple, 4, and Moses, 2, says. “He’s one of the last — it’s maybe him and Karl Lagerfeld. They’re from a whole other? era where things were made completely differently. The approach is ?very different – the attention to detail, the perfection. He’s a real? master. It was incredible to see. I had the pleasure of going to his couturier and watching him? work a couple of times. Those are memories that I will really ?treasure. It’s amazing to see.”

Here comes Anne Hathaway. What has Valentino taught her?

“The search for beauty in your life is a worthy endeavor,” she says.

Selita Ebanks admits her style icon is Kate Moss.

“I love her because she’s a genius,” the Victoria’s Secret model, who was once engaged to Nick Cannon, tells me. “She takes something that’s glamorous and mixes and matches expensive, trendy and something that’s out of the box. I think that she’s fearless. I love her.”

What’s a life ‘do’ for Martha Stewart? “Be creative,” she yuks.

Here comes Claire Danes gliding in arm-in-arm with fiancé Hugh Dancy, Oprah’s BFF Gayle King, Lake Bell, Gwyneth’s mom Blythe Danner, America’s Next Top Model Jaslene Gonzalez, Hugh Jackman’s wife Deborra-Lee Furness and Rachel Roy.

Agyness Deyn, donning a hooded dress, reveals her style inspiration.

“Whatever I wake up in the morning feeling,” she tells me.

Padma Lakshmi praises Valentino. “He’s just smart and sophisticated and Mediterranean,” Padma tells me. “He knows how to make a woman look gorgeous from head to toe.”

What’s something Karolina Kurkova can’t live without?

“My personal blend of oils,” she says, adding that we can’t buy it – yet. Hm, someone is dreaming of perfume deal …

What did Valentino think of the response to the film?

“I was very, very happy,” he says.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Guide To Life

March 9th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Gwyneth Paltrow admits she always misses her kids Apple, 4, and Moses, 2, and wonders what they’re doing when she’s away working, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It is also nice to acknowledge that I am a woman, I’m an artist, I work and it’s part of who I am,” says the actress, 37, who has Iron Man 2 and King Lear in the works.

“Motherhood has changed me in every way. It changed everything from my DNA on up. My perspective is so much different and the way I spend my day is different.”

What are her rules?

“I always try to instill that they’re very lucky and most children don’t get the things that they get.  To be mindful and hopefully it will stick with them.”

When Gwyneth takes time out for herself, she indulges with acupuncture and massage.

PICS FROM GWYNETH’S STYLE EVOLUTION:

She also likes to spend time in the kitchen whipping up smoothies for friends like Mario Batali, who can’t get enough of her “fun” GOOP blog. What are her diet secrets?

He tells me, “She literally works out three hours a day. She is a machine. And she eats like a long-haul truck driver. I’ve seen her put away more food than I put away at a sitting. She likes to eat everything but meat. She eats no meat, no processed animals or birds. She loves fish, she loves vegetables, she loves pasta. She’s a great eater.”

For nights out, grandma Blythe Danner chips in to help out whenever she’s needed, such as when Gwyneth’s hubby Chris Martin is on the road with Coldplay. (This week they’re in Australia.)

What’s the best part of being a grandma?

“Being told how much you’re missed,” Blythe tells me. “I love that.”

She adds, “Gwyneth is brilliant. She’s an extraordinary mother. She’s wonderful. I’m very proud of her.”

Stars Align for Can-Do Awards

Fashionable foodies unite at the Food Bank’s Fifth Annual Can-Do Awards held at NYC’s Pier Sixty.

Honoree (and Food Bank volunteer) Gwyneth Paltrow gets support from her Spain … on the Road Again reality co-star, chef Mario Battali, but gracious Gwyneth says the praise belongs to Food Bank president Lucy Cabrera.

“She’s been able to affect such change in New York,” the mother of two says. “I’m thrilled to be here and help in any way I can.”

Petra Nemcova gives one of many three-part kisses to the Extra reporter. “There’s no point in putting lipstick on me because it’s going to come off,” she chuckles.

What’s Rachael Ray’s favorite junk food?

“I never get angry at food,” she laughs. “I don’t have junk food. I don’t have anger with food. I enjoy a chip as much as I enjoy a five-course meal. I’m good with food.”

Honoree Helena Christensen says she can’t get enough Magnolia Bakery’s banana pudding as well as cheese, milk and yogurt … American Idol finalist Kimberly Locke reveals she lost 40 pounds on Jenny Craig by “doing it the healthy way” … Christy Turlington and Ed Burns confess, “I have allergies,” she says … and Katie Lee Joel loves it when hubby Billy Joel serves up his specialties — spaghetti Bolognese and strip steak.

What does Michael Stipe pony up when asked for food drive donations? “I’m from Georgia, so black-eyed peas,” he says. “That’s my favorite dish. I like to have them with ketchup.”

At 7:52, Gwyneth’s mom Blythe Danner turns up. Just in time to see her baby girl get a new trophy to keep that Oscar company.

Check out the OK! on newsstands this week for more tantalizing tidbits from the evening. Britney Spears “I Will Get My Boys Back” is the cover line.

Gwyneth Honored for Charity Work

April 16th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Gwyneth Paltrow can now add ‘humanitarian’ to her list of accomplishments. On April 7, the Oscar winner, wife and mom was honored at the Food Bank for NYC’s 5th Annual Can-Do Awards.

Her mom, Blythe Danner, 65, tells OK!, "She’s an extraordinary mother and yet does such great work." That includes teaching kids Apple, 3, and Moses, 2, how to give back as well.

"I always try to instill that they’re lucky," Paltrow, 35, tells OK!. One thing she won’t do, however, is talk about her husband, Coldplay front man, Chris Martin, 31. "You will never see us out together publically," she said recently. "We just don’t want to be one of those couples."

Blythe Danner Clears the Air!

April 2nd, 2008 / Author: cwillett

At last night’s premiere of The Visitor at the MOMA in New York City, Blythe Danner was there to support her friend Tom McCarthy, who directed the film. Though she was also very willing to set the record straight regarding the rumors that her daughter, Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow’s marriage to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is on the rocks.

“Oh good god! It’s just tragic that people have to make up stuff and write stuff! I’ve never seen two happier parents and people. Happy, happy people,” she said, “I don’t get it. They’re saying Gwyneth isn’t going to go back to work, which is a lot of BS too. She very much wants to go back to work. I think unfortunately you have to do your research and not follow the hearsay.”

In this week’s issue, we reported that the couple recently enjoyed a vacation at the celeb hot spot, Turks and Caicos. So, it seems that the duo are enjoying the paradise of marriage, where notorious surfer Chris enjoyed some waves!

The one thing that Blythe does get is grandmotherhood to Gwyneth’s two kids Apple, 3, and Moses, 1. “What isn’t to love about being a grandmother! Everything — all the fluffy stuff! I can’t help it! The laughter and the tickling and just having the best time in the world. And just feeling so loved!”

She’s passed on maternal spirit to Gwyneth. She tells OK!, “She’s a great, wonderful actress. But motherhood is very important to her, as it was to me, and she’s finding the balance. And it’s hard to find that balance.”
