Bon Jovi Plan New World Tour Kick-Off in New Jersey

October 15th, 2008
John McCain’s camp is in trouble with another Hollywood celeb–this time for using a Bon Jovi song at a Republican rally.
Jon Bon Jovi says the McCain campaign is using his band’s songs without their permission. The rocker, who threw a $30,000 per person fund raising dinner for democratic candidate Barack Obama in September, says he was surprised to hear Bon Jovi’s song, "Who Says You Can’t Go Home" played during rallies held by Republican vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, this week.
"We wrote this song as a thank you to those who have supported us over the past 25 years. The song has since become a banner for our home state of New Jersey and the de facto theme song for our partnerships around the country to build homes and rebuild communities," Bon Jovi said.
"Although we were not asked, we do not approve of their use of ‘Home’," the rocker said in a statement to TMZ.
This isn’t the first time the McCain campaign has gotten the shaft from music artists. In September, the rock group Heart sent a cease and desist letter to the Republican campaign asking them not to use the song "Barracuda." The song was the original theme song for Palin, playing off the "Sarah Barracuda" nickname the Alaska governor earned on the basketball court in high school.
One month earlier in August, rocker Jackson Browne sued McCain, the Republican National Committee and the Ohio Republican Party, accusing them of using his 1977 hit "Running on Empty" in a campaign add without his permission.
Richie Sambora Charged with DUI
April 22nd, 2008
Richie Sambora, the guitarist for Bon Jovi, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit, it was revealed on Tuesday.
Sambora,48, was pulled over by police in Laguna Beach,Calif., on March 25, after his car was reported swerving and straddling two lanes. The district attorney’s office says his blood alcohol level was allegedly nearly twice the legal limit in California.
When he was arrested, Richie had another adult passenger and two minors, including his 10-year old daughter, Ava in the car with him. He was later released on his own recognizance. Police initially recommended that Sambora be charged with child endangerment, but prosecutors later disagreed.
Sambora will be arraigned on May 7.

Police are recommending Richie Sambora be charged with misdemeanor child endangerment for driving drunk with his 10-year-old daughter in the car last month.
The Bon Jovi rocker was arrested for a suspected DUI on March 25 when he was caught driving erratically in a black Hummer. He was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test.
Ava, Richie’s daughter with Heather Locklear, was in the vehicle, along with his girlfriend, and another minor female teenager.
The 48-year-old, who spent time in rehab last year, is due in court for his arraignment on May 7.
Celebs Play Pranks For April Fool’s Day
April 1st, 2008
Celebs love to catch their friends and family off-guard on April Fool’s Day.
“One time I pranked my mom and told her that I was married,” Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester star tells me. “That was really, really mean. But then she got me back and told me something terrible that I forget, but I really believed it. I fell really hard for that one. So she got me back. It was so mean.”
Mya pulled a fast one on a friend.
“This is really bad,” she warns. “One of my friends is a producer in California – we have a brother/sister relationship – he pulled a prank on me so I figured I owed him one. I was on the House of Blues tour in 2003, and I invited him to one of my shows in Anaheim, California, on a date when I had already performed in Anaheim. So what he did was rented a limo, invited people and showed up the day after I performed. I gave him backstage passes and told him he was on the guest list for seven. He was totally embarrassed, but I owed him one.” (She cracks up laughing.)
Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz likes to dress as a woman on this day of pranks. “Anytime I’m wearing anything I’m probably borrowing it from my girlfriend.” Watch out, Ashlee Simpson!
Daughtry goof while touring with Bon Jovi.
“Chris was up there singing acoustic, so right as he paused, we just slammed our instruments as loud and as metal as we could,” bassist Josh Paul tells me. “He didn’t know what was going on; he couldn’t see us. All he knew was uh! As quickly as it began, it stopped, and he had to go back to the song.”
Chris adds, “Yeah, but it took about five minutes to get to the second verse because there was a lot of hysteria going on after that. It was a very serious song, but I found it very hard to get serious again after that. I was laughing through the second verse.”
Ashleigh Banfield tells me, “I’m no George Clooney, I’ll tell you that. I’m not that clever. I guess I hoodwinked my husband into asking me to marry him. That’s a good one!”
We won’t see Celebrity Apprentice contestant Carol Alt spoofing.
“I’m not a prankster,” she tells me. “I’m more of a serious person, believe it or not. I don’t play pranks.”
Three Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold tells me, “We don’t play pranks much because we know that we’ll get carried away. If one person does something, the other person’s going to come back and it’s just going to get bad.”
Singer Chrisette Michele tells me, “I hated my math teacher. In tenth grade, I told all the kids in math class that at 11:01 to drop their pencils and put their heads down and go to sleep. I will never forget that day. It was wonderful.”
Did they listen?
“Of course they did,” she says. “I was a leader! I didn’t do very well in math though.”
In the spirit of April Fool’s Day, Tom Hanks shares his best dirty joke.
“A guy is standing in an elevator with another guy,” he tells me. “They’re going up a lot of floors. The guy turns and goes ‘excuse me, have you ever been camping?’ And the other guy goes ‘no, I’ve never been camping.’ The guy goes ‘well, if you were to wake up one morning with your pants around your ankles and your buttocks smeared with Vaseline, would you tell anybody?’ The guy says ‘well, I don’t suppose I would tell anybody if I woke up with my pants around my ankles and my buttocks smeared with Vaseline.’ The other fella says ‘you wanna go camping?’”
Have fun, everyone.
Ageless Rockstar
November 12th, 2007
After a subway, a wrong train and a missed train, my sister,
mom and I (with little sense of direction among us), made it to
for one of Bon Jovi’s ten concerts at the new
seat in the house (although I beg to differ after seeing the seats behind the
stage), nonetheless I was grateful I was able to get our seats upgraded to the
second row – from there you could almost see how flawless Jon Bon Jovi’s
face is without looking at the giant
screen above his head.
When I met Bon Jovi about a year ago I remember having to
keep myself from staring at his perfect skin and focus on the conversation
rather than wondering what products he uses to keep it that way. When his face
was blown up on the big screen over the stage my mom asked me if he’s had
botox. I told her he hadn’t confided in me on his skincare regimens lately but his
face still moves, so I’ll make an educated guess, no. Chemical peels maybe?
Whatever it is, I think many would be thankful for him to share the secret.
His stamina matched his age-defying appearance as he ran
around the stage for nearly two hours singing a healthy dose of classics like “Living
on a Prayer” as well as a full serving of new songs from “Lost Highway.”
People often tell me I look 12. I used to attribute looking
young to genes, but maybe making a career largely centered on having fun keeps
you young.
