Rachel Weisz Battles Against Botox

July 8th, 2009 / Author: Mary Beth Quirk

Rachel WeiszRachel Weisz is on a mission in the battle against Botox: She thinks actors should be required to go au naturel when it comes to one of their greatest tools — their faces.

“It should be banned for actors, as steroids are for sportsmen,” Rachel tells the UK edition of Harper’s Bazaar of getting Botox injections. “Acting is all about expression; why would you want to iron out a frown?”

A hypothetical ban on Botox could mean a problem for some of those preternaturally smooth faces out there who swear by the stuff: Not only has Virginia Madsen admitted she uses it, she’s a spokesperson for Allergan, Inc., which makes Botox and Juvéderm.

“As I started to talk about it and as it ended up in print there was such an overwhelming response from friends and family, lots and lots of actors, people on the street,” she said. “They were surprised that I looked so ‘normal.’”

Vanessa Williams on the Wonders of Botox

February 21st, 2008 / Author: cwillett

It’s no secret Hollywood starlets turn to Botox for some uplifting facelifting, but seldom do any admit to going under the needle. Not Vanessa Williams though, who continues to come clean about her injecting ways.

"Oh, I certainly do Botox," she says, adding perhaps the obvious afterwards. "I definitely think that almost every woman that I know has imbibed."

The Ugly Betty star first copped to using the drug last year, stating that she needed some anti-aging help once she turned 40 in 2003.

"It’s a miracle drug -—no cutting, nothing — and I love it," she now says.

But Vanessa knows too much of a good thing is not good at all.

"I also want to act too, so I don’t do it to freeze my face."

Nicole Kidman’s Cancer Scare

November 14th, 2007

Though ageless beauty Nicole Kidman says she does her best to stay healthy by not smoking and focusing on her “physical health,” there’s been one problem that’s bedeviled her since childhood — the sun.

“I can’t go in the sun,” the Oscar winner explains in the new issue of Marie Claire. “I’m fair-skinned. That was a nightmare when I was a kid.” In fact, the 40-year-old star confesses that she “had one skin cancer on my leg, because I put my legs in the sun.”

The former Mrs. Tom Cruise also says that, despite reports of Botox injections, suncreen is the only substance on her face. “To be honest, I am completely natural… I take care of myself and I’m very proud to say that.”

However, Nicole doesn’t begrudge anyone who does decide to get a little help from modern medicine. “Anybody can do anything to themselves,” she says. “I have no judgment on it.”
