ABC Midseason Surprises!

December 14th, 2007

OK, maybe the TV landscape won’t be as barren as I’m dreading come Jan. 1, 2008! ABC has just unveiled its midseason TV schedule, and there’s hope! The power gals of Cashmere Mafia start their Manolo reign with a special sneak peek on Jan. 3. For all those Lost fanatics who just can’t get enough of the island, the addictive series starts its countdown to the end on Jan. 31. Another crew of celebrtieis will get the chance to revive their careers when they compete on the next edition of Dancing with the Stars, which rolls out March 17, along with the 12th installment of The Bachelor. I’m pretty certain ABC is having the new Bachelor sign a contract that he won’t punk out at the finale rose ceremony like Brad Womack did!

OK! Interview: The Bachelor’s Andy Baldwin

November 29th, 2007

He was touted as an officer and a gentleman on the 10th season of The Bachelor, but naval officer Andy Baldwin is also a committed triathlete. The 30-year-old, who proposed to social worker Tessa Horst in May only to break up a month later, has just participated in his fifth Ironman World Championships, which will be broadcast on Saturday on NBC at 4:30 p.m. OK! caught up with the hunk to get the lowdown on his grueling race and his take on love post-Bachelor.

Did you have any family, friends, loved ones cheering you on during the race?

Yes, some of my friends came over from Oahu to cheer me on.

How did you prepare for the triathlon?
I averaged about 30 hours of training per week, mostly on the weekends. And I did 100-plus mile bike rides around the island of Oahu and 20-plus mile runs. Long swims in the ocean. Lots of yoga.

Why did you want to compete in the Ironman?
I wanted to compete for the physical and mental challenge, the love of the sport, the people and being chosen to race for and represent the Navy on their All-Ironman team. This was my fifth time competing Ironman World Championships and the eighth Ironman I’ve completed.

How did your military background play into your training?
The Navy has instilled in me a sense of discipline and a devotion to commitment, honor and courage. It has helped me make it through medical school, dive school and, definitely, Ironman.

You’re clearly a competitive guy. Aside from a reality show and these sorts of competitions, does this quality come out in your daily life?
Actually, in daily life I think most people would consider me a laid-back kind of guy, who has the ability to be very focused and serious when he needs to be.

What do you think about the latest Bachelor’s decision to not pick either of the two final women?

The most shocking rose ceremony EVER.

What do you now look for in a girl after being on the Bachelor?

I will stand by the Ironman motto: anything is possible.

Watch Andy take on the grueling Ironman in all his shirtless glory this Saturday at 4:30pm ET on NBC.

Bachelor Brad: I Didn’t Fall in Love With Either Woman

November 21st, 2007 / Author: cwillett

In an unprecedented move, The Bachelor’s Brad Womack shocked and disappointed not only Jenni and DeAnna, the last two gals remaining, but viewers all over the country on Monday night when he dumped both ladies and chose no one. The Austin native, dubbed the sexiest Bachelor yet, had some ’splaining to do afterwards and tells OK! why he had to break not one but two hearts.

“Right up to the very last moment I tried so hard,” Brad tells OK!. “I truly did try so hard to believe that something could happen. And then as soon as that morning came and that day came, I was thinking, ‘Okay, well, I just don’t feel it.’ I knew it was going to be a tough road, but I didn’t want to lead any of the ladies on. That’s why I told them both good-bye.”

Brad went into the show as the 11th Bachelor with the best intentions, believing “anything is possible.” And while Jenni and DeAnna were both head over heels in love with Brad, professing their infatuation, the bar owner didn’t feel the same way, saying that although they both possess “every quality that any guy wants,” he ultimately was unable to fall in love with either of them.

“I didn’t have that wild-and-crazy, over-the-top feeling of being in love you get when you fall in love,” he says.

Although the public reaction to his decision has generally been negative, Brad has received comments from both ends of the spectrum. “A lot of people hate what I did, a lot of people like what I did. For the most part, in Austin the response has been really positive, and I’m grateful for that because I love this city — it’s where I live, so I’m glad I’m not getting beat up too much.”

For now, the 35-year-old — who, contrary to reports, never got back together with his ex — plans to “take a little time off” from dating. But when he’s ready to get back in the game, don’t expect to find him on another reality show.

“I wouldn’t do this again, and only because, let me say this, I loved my experience, I really did. But just being scrutinized so much is getting old,” he says.I didn’t quite know what I was getting into, having my public life out there. I got what I signed up for, so I can’t complain.

“How do I go about finding the love of my life?” he continues. “Maybe getting back with my ex — I’m kidding, of course. I don’t know, how do people find it? They always say you find it when you’re not looking for it. I’m just ready to go back to work and live a normal life and hopefully I’ll meet her.”

Bachelor Doesn’t Take A Bride

November 20th, 2007

The sexiest Bachelor to date might have to get used to a few new names. Bad Brad. Noncommittal Brad. Two-faced Brad. Gutless, heart wrenching, diamond ring snatching Brad.

And my mother came up with those.

We can thank The Bachelor’s Brad Womack for one thing. We won’t be forced to watch interviews from a perplexed TV insta-couple who will break up six months from now. Last night on The Bachelor finale, no. 11 dumped both his final ladies. Jenni and DeAnna bared their hearts and souls, only to have Brad pocket that engagement ring and tell them both to get to stepping.

It all started off so nicely. Brad dutifully brings DeAnna and Jenni home. Mom approves of DeAnna, right down to the amount of children she wants to have with Brad (three, just like his mom!). DeAnna finally lets a little bit of that manipulative guard down to show she’s really in love with Brad. Then it’s onto Jenni, and while mom also has good vibes for the peppy dancer, she’s feeling DeAnna more. Knowing that a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, DeAnna whips Brad up some lasagna and logically lays out her feelings and their future. She seems to think she’s got it in the bag as Brad tells her she would make a great wife and mother. And so did I after seeing Jenni break down and practically beg Brad to marry her. Ladies of The Bachelor take note: he NEVER picks the girl who begs. There’s got to be a chase.

The girls glam up for their final meeting with Brad. Jenni’s first and it’s no surprise when he sends her packing. Then it’s DeAnna’s turn. She’s all smiles as Brad reveals he’s sent Jenni home. He goes on to say that because he believes he will only marry once (dramatic pause as he stomps around the garden tugging at his collar), it won’t be to DeAnna since he doesn’t truly love her. Damn! DeAnna rightfully reverts back to her calculating way as she coolly asks Brad, “What happens when you regret your decision?” Thank god Brad didn’t reply, “Maybe I’ll try again on The Bachelor: Round Two?”

Brad will have to justify his lack of action tonight when he confronts the women he left at the altar on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, airing Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 10 p.m. on ABC.
