How Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy Found Bliss

April 8th, 2009

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy arrive thirty minutes early to show off their relationship during the Gen Art Film Festival premiere of Finding Bliss held Tuesday at NYC’s Visual Arts Theater.

Sweet yet eager to appear as if she doesn’t want attention, Jennifer hangs back while her man basks in the spotlight for the romantic comedy about the adult film industry in which he bares the full monty.

What was the most difficult part of filming the nude scene?

“It’s called a pickle shot,” the actor, 38, tells me. “It’s when a guy does a nude scene in Hollywood. The hardest thing is making sure the pickle is the right pickle. You want it to be more of a classic kosher dill and not a sweet gherkin.”

While he pleads the fifth when asked about watching porn with the now-super-svelte star, neither party will cop to when exactly their relationship began. Interesting, because she announced her broken engagement to Ross McCall in January 2009, and he starred on twenty episodes of the Ghost Whisperer beginning in 2008. Could Jamie be the Angelina of the equation seen before when Brad Pitt announced his divorce to Jennifer Aniston after Brangelina worked together on Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004? (Albeit on a much smaller level – engagements aren’t forever, after all.) Perhaps it’s simply a case of a rebound gone right.

Admitting they have a “mutual admiration society” based on their work in horror films, Jamie says “it just started recently.” He gets nervous. He won’t admit how they got together.

“I don’t know if I can answer,” he says before he pulls Jennifer aside to consult her on what he should say. “Things happen.”

What does he love most about the brunette beauty?

“She’s amazingly talented and really funny. People don’t realize that. She’s the most generous person I‘ve ever met, the most thoughtful.”

When asked about their most romantic date, Jamie turns the floor over to Jennifer, summoning her to take over press duties. From the way her eyes light up, we can tell she’s thrilled. She’s so friendly and winning. I remember watching her on Kids Incorporated. Finding Bliss hits theaters later this year.

The Brangelina Kids Have Gone Wild!

February 10th, 2009

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie might need to pencil in a little more play time for the kids after awards season is over – a report by UK paper The Sun claims the couple came back to their London hotel after the BAFTA Awards to find that Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh having some fun by racing up and down the hallway of the posh Dorchester hotel!

A nanny was supervising, but guests at the Dorchester hotel allegedly complained about the noise, according to the paper. Come on, kids will be kids, right?

The couple has been keeping a low profile on this trip, skipping the hotel’s fancy restaurants for a curry spot nearby, Noor Jahan, where they dined with model Claudia Schiffer, her husband Matthew Vaughn and Robert Downey Jr.

"They booked a table for 12 at 7.30pm and were a bit late arriving, but that was OK," says Shauyab Ahmed, part-owner of the restaurant as quoted by Brit paper The Telegraph. "The other customers loved it and were very happy to see them."

Brad Pitt Selling Malibu Home

February 2nd, 2009

It makes sense. The Pitt-Jolie clan cruises the globe so much it seems silly to have more than, let’s say, half a dozen homes. But selling the Malibu pad? C’mon Brad!

Alas, according to RealEstalker.com, Brad Pitt has quietly put his Malibu estate on the market for a cool $18 million.

The property includes a glass-walled contemporary house perched on the bluff overlooking the ocean, a large swimming pool, a tennis court and A-list neighbors that include Cindy Crawford and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Records show that Brad paid $8,410,000 when he bought the estate in 2005, in the aftermath of his split from ex Jennifer Aniston.

Pitt, 45, Angelina Jolie, 33, and their six kids, will now have to divide their time between the couple’s remaining six homes— Brad’s oceanfront compound just north of Santa Barbara, his long-time home in L.A.’s Los Feliz area, the Pitt-Jolie pad in New Orleans, Angie’s Cambodian hideaway and the 35-bedroom Chateau Miraval estate in rural France.

Oh, and there’s the newly purchased 40-plus acre estate in Long Island, NY. Guess something had to pay for the new house!

Brad and Angie Need a Break!

January 29th, 2009

One might think there are few things more exciting than being nominated for an Oscar.  In the case of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, however, parenthood takes precedence over any celebrating that might be going on in their busy home full of six kids.

"Man, we’re too busy dealing with Kleenexes and diapers and getting everyone fed to really celebrate. We’ll do that next year," Brad told Reuters at the Japan premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in Tokyo today.

Brad’s alread been nominated for many awards, including a SAG and a Golden Globe (neither of which he brought home) for his role in Benjamin, and partner Angie has nabbed multiple noms for her perfomance in The Changeling.

Having two nominees in the family has been fun for the family, even if they don’t have time to enjoy it right now, says Brad.

"It is nice, we go and support each other – very cool and rare I think," he revealed.

Seacrest Snubbed by Brangelina at Globes?

January 12th, 2009

While Ryan Seacrest may be one of the hardest working men in Hollywood – he interviews, produces, hosts American Idol and more – he’s apparently not that popular with one power couple in particular: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

As Perez Hilton points out, Ryan attempted to get an interview in last night with the Jolie-Pitts on-air for E! during the Golden Globes, even dashing backstage after they’d walked past. However, the beautiful duo simply turned their backs and pretended not to see the gregarious guy.

Perez chatted with Ryan this morning, who joked about the alleged snub and said that the actors may have had an exclusive interviewing deal with NBC, the network that broadcasted the awards.

Still, a burn’s a burn, and that’s gotta hurt!

Kate Winslet Gets Personal

January 7th, 2009

Kate Winslet exhales “I’m absolutely exhausted” when she strides into NYC’s Regency Hotel with hair tousled.

The actress, 33, who is mom to Mia, 8, and Joe, 5, is in the midst of a busy 24 hours racing around NYC to promote her post-Nazi drama The Reader, which is in theaters Friday.

How does the twice-wed star keep her family and her career moving full steam ahead?

“It’s a challenge, but it’s no more of a challenge for me than it is for any working mother,” she says with her lilting British accent. “Your first commitment is to your children, and to make your own life work – your own career right. It takes a lot of planning. It’s as simple as that. I get up extremely early in the morning.”

Such is the life of the smart, sassy actress who married director Sam Mendes, 43, in 2003. Kate’s up for two Golden Globes in the awards show airing Sunday, and will have two Golden Globe favorites – Revolutionary Road and now The Reader – released in the space of two weeks. (She could be part of five wins – her hubby is also up for best director. Time to make space on that mantle!)

In The Reader, she steams up the screen with a 17-year-old boy (David Kross), and she also has love scenes with her Titanic paramour Leonardo DiCaprio in Revolutionary Road, which her hubby directed. (She calls their experience “unbelievable.”) Um, awkward?

She asks for a break to get a drink of water, and returns with the answer.

“Of course Sam doesn’t get jealous,” she haughtily tells me. “I’m not a porn star. I’m not walking out there and actually having sex with other people for my job. It’s part of my job – no, he doesn’t get jealous at all. Not in the slightest. It’s something that – believe me – he’s used to. In every single piece, I feel that every level of nudity in the films that I have been a part of has been absolutely relevant and enhanced the story. Sam has supported me in all of that, and has felt the same way.”

Showing her body is something Kate is proud to be asked to do – such as baring (almost) all in a svelte turn on the December cover of Vanity Fair.

“I had a moment of thinking ‘my God, am I really going to take my clothes off here?’ And in the next breath, I thought ‘yeah, dammit, I am. I’m 33, I’ve had two kids, Steven Meisel wants to take pictures of me naked. This is never going to happen again. Man, oh man, I’m going to make the most of this!’ It was one of those things where I transported myself thirty years on, and wanted to be able to say ‘God, yeah, I did that. That was one of those crazy, wonderful things and I’m really happy to have that memory.’”

Although she’s faced criticism for the shoot – wasn’t she the same gal who encouraged women to embrace their bodies, no matter the size? – Kate doesn’t let it get her down. (Her style mantra? “Whatever fits and whatever works.”)

“The trick is to try to find a way of ignoring it, and not letting judgment affect one’s sense of self and one’s choices and one’s priorities in life. Luckily enough, I am a strong enough character to be able to hang on for that.”

She adds, “I think we live in a world today where it’s almost impossible not to feel judged, and that’s for myself and I think for all of us. We live in a very judgmental world, and it actually makes me very sad. Wouldn’t it be great if we could just simply do what we wanted to do, be ourselves, wear the clothes we wanted to wear, not worry about the exteriors and the trappings of life and literally just go and be free?”

Speaking of criticism, her thoughts veer to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

“They’re sort of a walking soap opera,” she says. “The public wants to know what’s going to happen next. Coming soon to Brad and Angelina is, you know, dot-dot-dot. I think for them, it must be so hard to hang on to any mystery.”

Maintaining her own mystique is important, but she doesn’t hold back when asked about her brood. Would she like more kids?

“At the moment, no,” she says. “Sam and I have talked about it, and we feel like Mia and Joe are so great and we’re very, very lucky that they’re healthy. We’re really happy with the family that we have.”

Not that young Mia (whose dad is ex-hubby Jim Threapleton) and Joe are problem children, of course. In fact, they’re real-life mini-mes.

“I see the personalities of myself and both of their dads emerging in both of them, and it’s great. In Mia, she has a lot of Sam, too, because he’s really raised her with me. That’s a really amazing thing, which I am surprised by on a daily basis, and it’s really wonderful.”

Since she has such a serene, peaceful personal life, would she like to see good pal Leonardo settle down?

“That is a way too dangerous question for me to answer, babe,” she laughs. “There’s no way I’m going there, babe.”

The Reader is in theaters Friday. The Golden Globes take place Sunday.

Ashanti May Follow Brangelina’s Lead

December 9th, 2008

Like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Ashanti may add children to her family through adoption or fostering.

“I’m really interested in family and starting a family way, way, way down the line, but I love kids so much, so maybe,” she tells me.

The singer-actress, 28, felt her heartstrings pulled Monday when she played Santa Claus to ten foster children from the Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families at Planet Hollywood in NYC. She gifted them with Pleo dinosaurs, and spent time joking around and getting to know the kids, who wear Planet Hollywood t-shirts.

“The kids are so innocent, and they deserve so much better,” she tells me. “It’s really unfortunate to not have a parent – sometimes they lose them to death, or maybe drugs or maybe something negative. I think it’s amazing that these parents come along and take these kids in, again, because they’re the victims, they’re the innocent ones. It’s important to keep the morale up and to give them a place to live, a healthy environment, and to teach them just to be a person.”

Nelly’s girlfriend looks up to Brangelina for bringing attention to needy kids.

Brad and Angelina are the king and queen of giving back and taking kids in,” she tells me. “I definitely applaud and commend them for all that they do.”

Brangelina Behind Closed Doors

November 11th, 2008

Asked at a Nov. 5 taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show about whether Angelina Jolie was thelove of his life, Brad Pitt responded, “Dare I say.” Acknowledging his joy, the TV queen replied, “Dare I see!”

Indeed, thanks to Angelina, Brad has every reason to be smiling. Even with six kids running around the house, the mother of Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne, always makes it a point to take care of her man – though she admits that finding alone time in the bedroom isn’t always easy.

The kids do knock before entering,” Angelina recently told W magazine. “We’ve at least got that part down. Because Mommy and Daddy do need some space.”

One place the busy couple manages to get their space is in the tub, an activity more about making conversation than making love.

"I don’t know how he does it, but I talk a lot in the bath,” she revealed to Marie Claire in July. “It’s easier to talk when you’re naked.”

And easier to do quite a few other things, as well. During his Oprah Winfrey interview, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button star admitted that he and Angelina will likely have more children. Parenthood “is the greatest thing I’ve ever taken on,” he  declared. “Why stop now?”

But even pregnancy can’t get in the way of the couple’s adult-only fun. “It’s great for the sex life,” Angelina has said. “It just makes you a lot more creative.”
