Bret Michaels the Gentleman

June 12th, 2009

Everyone knows Bret Michaels is a quintessential rocker, wooing adoring female fans on his Rock of Love Bus on VH1. But a sensitive gentleman? Do tell! Bret opened up to Elle about the women who flock to his bus.

"There are definitely some girls who come on the show to party, and there are a few I’m not going to take home to Grandma," he admits. "But I try to never use the words skanky or slutty. I don’t call any of them out like that."

He adds that there are some who are there for fun and then just want to leave, something he’s okay with as well.

"It’s not a horrible thing. We don’t have to own each other’s souls to have a night of fun," he explains. "I happen to be thankful for the gifts they give me."

So is there anything he regrets in all his touring years and all those women?

"I’ve never done anything the two of us didn’t agree to tango on. Coming from a blue-collar Pennsylvania background and having two daughters and two sisters, it’s just not my thing," he reveals. "There may have been a few nights I’ve gotten more hammered than usual and not followed all the guidelines of this day and age, but never a situation where I regretted something I’d done."

Sounds like his mothers and sister taught him well!

Tonys Set Has No Love for Bret Michaels

June 8th, 2009

As any Broadway vet will tell you, one thing you always need to be aware of when you’re on stage is the set itself. One wrong step and you could be in a world of hurt. That’s a lesson Bret Michaels learned the hard way during Sunday night’s Tony Awards.

As part of the show’s opening number, the rock ‘n’ reality star had joined his band Poison to sing their bar band classic "Nothin’ But a Good Time" with the cast of Broadway hit Rock of Ages. And when the Rock of Love star went to make his exit from the stage — wham! — he came face-to-face with a piece of scenery that was being lowered down onto the stage.

Ouch!

Though it looked pretty bad at the time — early reports indicated that Bret’s nose had been broken — a spokesperson for the Tonys says the rocker’s schnoz is still intact and that the whole incident was a matter of Bret "missing his mark."

OK! Interview: Bret Michaels Still Looking for Love

January 22nd, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Bret Michaels, hair metal’s most available single guy, has loaded 20 prospective dates onto a tour bus and headed off for the third season of Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels.

"If you want to know the true measure of a person, spend a week on the road with them," the Poison frontman, 45, tells OK!.

Michaels, who has two daughters with ex-girlfriend Kristi Lynn Gibson, 38, says he’s still looking for love, but thinks he may have found something close to it on this season.

"I find what I think is my best chance for it," he says. "She’s someone who can handle being out on the road, but she can still have fun. I think I did good."

At the end of season 2, Michaels chose Ambre Lake to be his lady love. So what happened between then and now?

"Finding true love on TV is tough," he says. "Being long-distance was hard. When I have time off, I jump on a plane to see my kids. Ambre was very cool about the new season starting, and we left the door open between us."

When asked which celebrity he’d like to see on his tour bus, Michaels says, "Jennifer Aniston is smokin’ hot, smart and funny. You could take her home to mom and grandma. But behind closed doors she’d rock your world."

Since his early days on the road with Poison, Michaels has sported a bandana around his long blond locks. Now a little bit older, you have to wonder, is the hair still as thick under there?

"Yes," he says, "but it’s fine and thin so I like having extensions."

A diabetic himself, Michaels is a spokesman for the American Diabetes Association. When asked how he juggles being a rock star and having diabetes, the singer says, "This is the sickest thing any rock star will say, but the art of balance will let you rock forever."

He continues, "Most diabetics don’t live in a bubble. At some point you’re going to have something with sugar, you’ll want to get a drink and it’s all about working out how to balance it in your diet."

Sunday Night TV Roundup: Rock of Love 2 Premiere!

TV Fanatic breaks down the premiere of Rock of Love 2!

Rock of Love 2: "With the Globes reduced to a mere press conference I could fast forward through in 15 minutes on my DVR, I decided to turn my attention to the season premiere of Rock of Love 2, where aging rocker Bret Michaels is looking for love in all the wrong places — mainly among a group of scantily clad bimbos, some who are almost half his age. That would be my first problem with this show. But I took a stiff sip of Merlot and forced myself to get through it.

Since all the girls had done their homework and seen at least the first episode of last season’s Rock of Love, they knew some girls would be eliminated before they even made it into the mansion. Four girls were called out, but psych!, they actually got VIP passes and special gifts (designer sweatpants?), for being Bret’s special girls. One cheesy blonde looked eerily familiar: it was non other that Megan, winner of Beauty and the Geek 3! Obviously, her half of Geek’s $250,000 prize wasn’t enough to keep her happy cause she was looking for love with a man who wears more eyeliner than she does (umm, what happened to the fiancé she spoke of in the reunion show?).

All the girls get in the house and the drinking/stripping/tongue kissing begins. They all pretty much blend into one another with their mini-skirts and stiletto heels and gobs of makeup and come across pretty smutty, except for Kristy Jo, who doesn’t want to kiss Bret after 19 girls have stuck their who-knows-where-they’ve-been tongues in his mouth. I don’t even know what to say about Angelique, and neither does Bret, except to say that she’s a whole lotta (fake) woman. (Could she be the rumored transsexual on the show? I would believe it!) I dig Catherine, who’s 45 and actually seems to have a head on her shoulders – now if she could only get rid of that hairstyle circa 1987.

This show is designed to objectify women and since most ?of these gals just want to further their reality star careers they put up with it, but I still think it’s pretty gross. During elimination, Jackye, who was the last woman selected to stay, decided not to accept Bret’s pass and go home. Here’s a ?translation of her reason for splitting: “There is no way in hell I’m staying in this den of sin with these? skanky hos, no offense.”??? Erin, who was initially a V.I.P., got sent home Bret said it was because she was too young, and I agree. No reason for him to wind up on an episode of To Catch a Predator." — TV Fanatic
