Brittany Murphy Wants to Be a Mom Soon

April 10th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

You would think that since she’s been married for almost two years, owning a cute puppy would point to one thing on Brittany Murphy’s to-do list: babies! But the actress, 31, insists her Maltese, Clara, has no bearing on her desire to become a mom.

“I never needed a puppy to inspire me to thoughts of having children,” jokes the actress, who stars in a new Lifetime movie, Tribute, on April 11, and will then be seen in Sin City 2. Brittany, who married screenwriter Simon Monjack in May 2007, spoke to OK!.

OK!: Tell us about your dog.
I adopted the most precious little puppy in the whole wide world and that has been a real life-changer. She’s a humongous personality in a tiny package. She’s more of a family member than a pet.

OK!: What do you enjoy most about being married?
Getting up every morning and going to sleep every night next to my soulmate.

OK!: How did you meet?
We met when I was 17 years old. We checked in with each other throughout the years and remained friends. The easiest decision I ever had in my life was getting married.

OK!: What’s the most romantic thing Simon has done for you?
He’s flown around the world to make sure we spend every single night together.

OK!: Do you want kids?
I hope to have a few. I’ve always loved kids and babies and always wanted to be a mom.

OK!: When?
Hopefully soon.

OK!: What was your latest fashion splurge?
Yesterday, I got Clara some summer dresses from an incredible store called .O.G. They had a sale, which was fortunate — my husband says I spend more money on Clara than on myself!

OK!: What drew you to Tribute?
It’s a thriller, a mystery and very romantic. I think there’s a lot to be learned from my character, Cilla. She’s a woman who’s lost, but comes into her own.

OK!: What was it like working with Jason Lewis on the movie?
Fantastic! He’s a doll. He loves music and brought it to the set, which is always a pleasure. He had a little speaker that was the size of about four dice put together, and it was attached to his iPhone. He had all his music ready and wasn’t afraid to play it and entertain the crew. He was a delight to work with and very professional.

OK!: What’s your favorite way to de-stress?
Baths and hugs. Spending time with loved ones because, for me, the outside world is the only place that contains any stressors.

OK!: You worked on Girl, Interrupted with Angelina Jolie. What do you think of her family?
I love Angie very much and I think she and Brad and the babies are the most beautiful family.

Disney Says Brittany Replaced, Not Fired

June 2nd, 2008

Contrary to reports claiming Brittany Murphy was fired as the new voice of the Disney film Tinker Bell, a Disney rep tells OK! that Murphy actually bowed out because of a scheduling conflict.

In a statement obtained by OK!, the Disney rep says, "When John Lasseter came on board, the schedule changed, and the new schedule didn’t work for her."

Disney hired  Murphy to be the new voice of Tinker Bell back in 2006.  Actress Mae Whitman was announced as Brittany’s replacement last month.

Sunday in Numbers

January 27th, 2008

25 – It’s the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”! I still remember running around my parents house turning up the intercom speakers in every room when the song came on. There’s a lot of planned promotion around the anniversary which made me wonder, who do you think has a better chance at a come back, Michael Jackson or Britney Spears?

20: Number of years since the rumored-to-be reuniting New Kids on the Block broke up.

16: Number of years Brittany Murphy told me it has been since she filmed “Clueless” when we chatted at the OK! portrait studio in Sundance while a Prescriptives girl did her make-up and Christo, from the Christo Salon in NYC did her hair.

6: Number of women I noticed with obvious plastic surgery while I was at Bergdorf Goodman today.

5: Number of odd new flavors of Skittles I discovered today including Smores, Brownie, Vanilla, Chocolate Caramel and Chocolate Pudding.

87: Number of Kleenex I’ve used…in the last hour.

12: Number of Zicam I’ve taken since back from Sickdance.

4: Number of shots of nighttime Theraflu I’ve had this weekend.

348: Number of emails I received Friday (decided to count for an average. Now I know what I do all day).

0: Number of alcoholic beverages consumed since Sundance.

2: Number of days in NYC before I go to Scottsdale for the Superbowl.

26: Number of events to cover in Scottsdale – from the Maxim party to the 50 Cent party, Counting Crow Concert to Juliette Lewis and the Licks (did you know Brad Pitt was once engaged to her?)

Sundancing

January 24th, 2008

A jack of all trades, a master of none.

That pretty sums up how I felt this year at Sundance -covering events and hosting events, working and playing, stressing (making deadlines) and relaxing (getting a massage).

But, as the stress of making it through a sleepless Sundance fades and the knowledge that eight hours sleep is only a few sentences away, I can already reflect happily on another great, memorable festival.

This year Paris was back, making out with multiple boys, posing for the cameras, spending the week partying and gifting in Park City without a movie screening at the festival…Sadly she’s become as consistent a staple of Sundance as skiing and snow.

Consistent for me this year – I still have yet to see a movie or snowboard in Sundance. Different was hosting a portrait studio that had me spending a lot of time in one place. A classy way to cover Sundance and a great way to make new relationships (I think Brittany Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack are my new BFF), it was an experience being on the other side of the tables – having to do everything from invites to music - a detail I forgot and I had to resort to plugging in my ipod - which led to having to explain that while I’m not embarrassed I like “The Little Mermaid,” “Nickleback,” “The Beatles” and “Phantom at the Opera,” why they came on successively.

The studio was at new concept space Village at the Yard, a former lumber yard that was converted into a winter wonderland of sorts as imagined by my friend Tony Berger who through his company Relevent produced the little ‘village.’ The escape from Main Street housed the T-mobile Diner (a converted garage painted pink where they served free food and had walls lined with laptops), a drugstore, where you could grab necessities from toothpaste to Airborne (compliments of drugstore.com), our studio that turned into hotspot Hyde at night and a sled hill – where I went tubing to revive every morning and watched my friends sled on less than sober after the bar at night.

It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun, and why choose work if it isn’t fun. Pictured, Tony and I having fun while at work. Does that even make sense? I’m still tired.
