Last August, when David Duchovny entered rehab for sex addiction, things didn’t look very good for his 11-year marriage to Tea Leoni. But judging by the couple’s recent behavior, things are beginning to look up. Read more »
David Duchovny may have gone to rehab for sex addiction, he may have separated from his wife,Tea Leoni. But the actor is furious over claims that he was unfaithful during his 11-year marriage.
The Californication star is suing the British newspaper Daily Mail over a story suggesting he cheated on Leoni with a tennis instructor named Edit Pakay.
The lawsuit, filed in a Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges defamation and invasion of privacy. Duchovny is seeking $1 million in damages.
The X-Files star, 48, separated from Leoni several months ago. They have two children together.
"This is false. It never happened," the lawsuit stated. According to the suit, the Daily Mail’s story was taken down from the paper’s Web Site on Tuesday. However other news outlets picked up on the story and several versions were posted on the Internet which caused "additional and further damage to David Duchovny," the lawsuit stated.
The lawsuit also stated that Duchovny never hired Pakay to be his tennis coach. Pakay, who says she is a friend of the actor’s, said they played tennis a few times.
David Duchovny has left a rehab center where he was being treated for sex addiction, his lawyer, Stanton "Larry" Stein confirmed on Monday.
"David is out of rehab and about to start a new movie. He successfully completed his treatment," Stein said in a statement to the press.
The actor, 48, voluntarily checked into a facility to treat his addiction in August. Duchovny, who plays Hank Moody on Californication, has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. The couple have two children, daughter Madelaine West, 9, and son Kyd, 6.
Hot Californication casting scoop!
Justine Bateman, last seen dealing drugs and getting popped on Desperate Housewives, is getting down and dirty in an upcoming episode.
My fellow blogger, Red Carpet Confidential’s Valerie Nome, got the exclusive on the Family Ties alum’s steamy guest spot.
“What every female over 18 does on that show – that’s what I do,” she declares. “Everybody has to get together with David Duchovny.”
Not that she’s (or we would be) complaining.
“I love David. I’ve worked with him before. I played his wife in a film called The TV Set,” she says. “He was doing this Californication episode and wanted me to play the part.”
Justine also reveals that David is one smart cookie.
“Within a conversation, he can make references to all kinds of things that you never read,” she says.
Hank Moody has time to read?
Californication airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on Showtime. Check out Justine’s performance on Nov. 9.
On Showtime’s Californication, David Duchovny’s character, Hank Moody, tries to restrain himself when it comes to his unsuppressible appetite for sex with beautiful women. Now in a bizarre real-life twist, David himself is dealing with his own sexual issues.
In a statement released yesterday by David’s lawyer, Stanton "Larry" Stein, he says, "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction. I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
David has been married to actress Téa Leoni since 1997, with whom he has two children.
Some former child stars choose to announce their move to more adult fare in a shocking way. Drew Barrymore posed nude in Playboy. Fred Savage played a babbling junkie in The Rules of Attraction. And The Nanny’s Madeline Zima — she got naked and punched David Duchovny in the face.
Last year the 22-year-old actress sure made a huge splash with that brutally hilarious scene in the premiere episode of the Showtime hit Californication, and she tells OK! she can understand why it might be jarring for her long-time fans, who have seen her on TV and in films since the age of 8.
"I have the naked scene, it’s like ‘Oh it’s the little girl from The Hand That Rocks the Cradle or The Nanny and she’s f**king and punching on that show," Madeline explains rather bluntly at the Third Annual Hot in Hollywood party. "It’s a little weird for them, I guess. But everyone grows up."
And as for what fans can expect when the raunchy show returns for a second season in September, Madeline says, "More of the same… Midway through, there’s some really funny stuff that happens, which is outrageous even for Californication."
While she won’t divulge details Madeline did reveal that one episode in particular had the cast really excited. "When everyone on set read this one script, they were like ‘Holy hell this is so funny!’"

Make sure you pick up the latest issue of OK! magazine for TV Fanatic’s exclsuive deets on Pete Wentz’s upcoming guest role on the Showtime Series, Californication. Pete’s not making too much of an acting stretch — he’s playing himself! Wife Ashlee Simpson (and baby-to-be) must be beaming!
As the year rolls to a close, it’s a perfect time for me to reflect back on five new shows that won over my heart in 2007.
5. Private Practice (ABC): I was skeptical after watching that awful Grey’s Anatomy episode that first introduced me to the doctors of Oceanside Wellness Center. And the first stand-alone episode of Practice was no treat neither. But slowly, the show started to find its own footing, reorganizing itself less around the antics of Santa Monica implant Addison and more on the ensemble cast. The writing is sharp and snappy like Grey’s was in its heyday (and returning to this season!). With less characters running around like in a busy hospital, there’s more time to develop each one as an individual. And yeah, the guy who plays Dell is hot.
4. Flight of the Conchords (HBO): It’s probably the accents. I’ve always had a thing for guys from other countries. Or maybe it’s the fact they break out into song at the strangest times. Whatever it is, this quirky comedy about a fictional folk duo from New Zealand seeking fame and fortune in New York City, played by real-life musical parody duo Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, is pretty hilarious. Now if they would only let psycho fan, Mel, get a piece…
3. Saving Grace (TNT): Academy award-winner Holly Hunter plays boozing, sexing New Orleans detective Grace Hanadarko, who always get her man, especially if he’s a criminal. Of course, Grace has to answer to a higher power for her devious behavior, an angel named Earl who fancies denim and plaid. One of her biggest? Her illicit affair with fellow detective Ham Dewey (hunky Kenny Johnson), who she often gets in to compromising positions. One of these days they’ll have hell to pay, but for now, I’m just taking it all in.
2. Gossip Girl (The CW): How the heck did I get pulled into a teen drama? Probably because my high school experience was never quite like this! Designer wardrobes, elite private schools and debutante balls (okay, I had that one). The show is fast paced, so I’ve got to stay in overdrive just to keep up. And hey Blair, if you really don’t want Chuck, feel free to toss him my way!
1. Pushing Daisies (ABC): Anyone who doesn’t love Ned, the soulful pie maker who can bring the dead back to life (but just for a minute without consequence), doesn’t deserve to be touched. Of course, he’s in love with the one woman he resurrected and can never touch again since it will leave her permanently dead. Watching all the ways Ned and Chuck find to make out without contact is always a wacky romantic romp.
And three shows I should have watched last season (and plan to watch on DVD!).
Mad Men (AMC): It takes place in the ’50s, but the themes of love, betrayal and climbing the corporate ladder by any means necessary are still relevant today.
Damages (FX): Glenn Close plays an evil lawyer who will do anything to win her case, and I certainly don’t want to be on her bad side.
Calfornication (Showtime): Globe Golden nominee David Duchovny is naked most of the time. Need I say more?
