Heath’s Friends Present His Final Role

May 22nd, 2009

Heath Ledger’s last role in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was an unfinished one, but his co-stars and other friends rallied to complete it in honor  of the late actor. Director Terry Gilliam told the audience at its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival that Heath’s zeal and dedication inspired those around him.

"Heath was enjoying himself so much, and he was ad-libbing a lot, which I don’t normally allow … but Heath was just brilliant at it, and he got everybody else going," Gilliam said. "Everybody was just energized by Heath. He was extraordinary. He was almost exhausting because he had so much energy."

Heath’s inexhaustible energy affect everyone else, Gilliam added.

"That just passed on to everyone else. Everyone’s part grew because they were full of Heath’s energy," he said."What I thought was interesting was to watch people filling the void that Heath left. Everybody was just growing to make sure that there was no void left in the space that Heath had left us."

After Heath’s death to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, the filmmakers had to scramble to figure out how to complete his unfinished work.

"Fortunately, I was surrounded by really good people who insisted that I couldn’t be such a lazy bastard and that we had to go out and find a way of finishing the film for Heath," Gilliam said of casting Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell to play incarnations of Heath during otherworldly portions of the fantasy film.

"This is the movie Heath wanted to see, and this is the movie that we will do. And I hope he would be pleased with it. I think he would be," added Gilliam.

The movie closes with the dedication: "A film from Heath Ledger and friends.

Robert’s Lips Make a Mint

May 22nd, 2009

A kiss on the hand can be quite continental, but is a kiss on the cheek from Robert Pattinson worth thousands?

Apparently two proud papas thought so during the amfAR benefit in Cannes last night, as they shelled out some pretty serious dough to earn their daughters the right to have those highly-prized lips grace their faces.

E! News reports that Harvey Weinstein joked onstage about his daughters going gaga for R-Patts and changing their names to Pattinson after seeing him in Twilight

"Harvey then suggested auctioning off an opportunity for someone’s daughter to meet and get a kiss on the cheek from Pattinson," a fellow partygoer tells E!. "There were two bidders who paid 20,000 euros each for their daughters to have that kiss."

Do the math, vampire-lovers… that’s $55,000 total!

"Harvey put him on the spot, in a playful way," the source says. "And Rob agreed to it in his usual brooding, modest way."

Robert Pattinson Makes it Official

May 19th, 2009

File this one under "D" for "Duh": Robert Pattinson will appear as Edward Cullen in Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final movie in the Twilight saga.

While at the Cannes International Film Festival, R-Patts confirmed today to The Hollywood Reporter that he is committed to starring, but doesn’t know when production will begin. The cast and crew is currently filming New Moon, which will be released in November, and then moving right on to shooting Eclipse in October.

In the book version of New Moon, Rob’s character Edward Cullen plays a voice in Bella’s head. However, he reveals the screen adaptation will have more Edward than just a voice.

"You’re playing a figment in Bella’s imagination so I was trying to do it in a 2-D way. I hope it doesn’t translate onscreen as being boring."

In addition to his busy schedule full of Twilight commitments, Robert has plans to star in another Summit production, Remember Me, about a man who spends six weeks after meeting someone working out if he is in love or not.

When it comes to R-Patts, that’s something we don’t need time to figure out.
