Shia LaBeouf’s Driver’s License Suspended

January 20th, 2009

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf has had his driver’s license suspended as a result of his July 2008 car crash.

According to Access Hollywood, LaBeouf was hit with a suspension because of a "refusal of chemical tests" in the wake of his accident, according to the DMV.

The license suspension will last for a minimum of one year. In September, the LA County DA’s office announced there was "insufficient evidence" to charge the actor with drunken driving for his involvement in the crash, which left his hand badly injured.

LaBeouf was arrested for suspicion of DUI following the accident after showing "physical signs" of being impaired, according to LA Sheriff’s Dept. spokesperson Steve Whitmore.

Sheriff’s deputies said later that LaBeouf was not at fault in the accident.

Beckham: ‘What Car Crash?’

August 28th, 2008

Everybody was surprised last week by the news that David and Victoria Beckham had been in a horrific car crash in France — not least David and Victoria Beckham, who knew nothing whatsoever about it.

The press were foaming at the mouth on Sunday over reports that the Brits’ BMW had spun out of control on the drive from their home in Bargemon to Nice airport, where they were catching a plane to London.

But the soccer star just wrote in his blog that there never was a crash, and that the whole rumor was started because their car got a little knock in a parking lot!

"I know many of you would have been concerned to read about a supposed car crash involving me and Victoria," Becks wrote on his blog.

"I want to assure everyone there never was any crash at any time; our car had been dented many days before whilst vacant in a car park."

Morgan Freeman Released from Hospital

August 7th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Morgan Freeman has been discharged from a Tennessee hospital nearly one week after flipping his car in a serious crash. A spokesperson at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis confirmed the discharge but gave no other details.

The Dark Knight star told ET, "I left the hospital today just after 12 noon, Memphis time. I’m doing very well. I feel real good. I just really, I thank the staff at Elvis Presley [medical facility] and many, many thanks to my many well-wishers. It’s great to know people care about you."

The Oscar-winning actor, 71, was treated for a broken arm, elbow and shoulder damage sustained in Sunday night’s accident in Miss. He underwent surgery on Monday to reconnect nerves and to repair damage to his left arm and hand. Freeman’s passenger, Demaris Meyer, was also injured in the crash.

On Wednesday, Freeman’s lawyer confirmed to Access Hollywood that the actor is divorcing with his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee and that "for legal and practical purposes, have been separated since December of 2007." The couple own a home in Tallahatchie County, Miss.

Morgan Freeman Injured in ‘Serious’ Car Crash

August 4th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Morgan Freeman has been injured in a "serious" car crash.

Cops say that the 71-year-old Dark Knight star was in a one-car smash in the small town of Ruleville in Mississippi at around 11:30 last night.

The Oscar-winner was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis, Tn.

UPDATE: Freeman’s rep confirms the actor broke his shoulder and his arm, but is expected to make "a good recovery."

Freeman’s passenger has been identified as Demaris Meyer. The actor was driving Meyer’s 1997 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Highway 32 when he ran off the edge of the road and flipped the car. Authorities say both were wearing their seat belts.

According to the AP, when a passerby whipped out a cell phone at the scene of the crash and tried to snap a picture, Freeman joked, "No freebies, no freebies."

Clay McFerrin, editor of Sun Sentinel in Charleston, said he arrived at the accident scene on Mississippi Highway 32 soon after it happened about 5 miles west of Charleston, not far from where Freeman owns a home with his wife.

”They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle,” McFerrin said. ”He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point.”

Cops say alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash. There’s no word yet on the condition of Freeman’s passenger.

LaBeouf’s Lawyer Reveals Accident Details

August 1st, 2008

Shia LaBeouf’s attorney is revealing the full extent of what happened during last weekend’s truck-flipping accident that left the Transformers actor with a crushed left hand and a DUI charge.

In a statement released on Friday, attorney Michael Norris said:

"As you know, Shia was involved in a traffic collision last Sunday. He and his passenger were struck by another vehicle, as Shia was completing a left turn. The force of that impact immediately flipped Shia’s vehicle over, and, as a result, Shia’s left hand was crushed.

We have continued to cooperate with the police, and the Sheriff’s Department has now released information that the other vehicle ran the red light while striking Shia’s truck.

Our independent investigation of the accident is ongoing, but we have also received information that suggests that the other driver may have been traveling upwards of 50 mph, and that said driver may not have been looking forward at the time of the accident.

Shia and his family are very thankful for the efforts of medical personnel at the scene, and for all the care and understanding that we have received at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Shia underwent four hours of surgery on Sunday and has been recovering since then. His doctors remain hopeful that he will fully recover, but due to extensive surgery and the nature of the injuries, there remains a substantial risk of both infection and other complications.

Shia’s left arm remains fully immobilized from the elbow down, and he will need regular medical supervision until his doctors clear him to return to work. We are hopeful that this return will be sooner rather than later, and the ‘Transformers 2′ production company has rearranged their shooting schedule to accommodate this injury. We remain very grateful for their understanding.

We are very appreciative, again, of the patience that everyone has shown us, and of the many concerned citizens who have stepped forward to provide information regarding this collision. We would encourage anyone who has information to contact Mr. Norris’ office at the telephone number listed below so that our investigators may follow up.”
