In an effort to help Barack Obama get his controversial health care bill passed through Congress, Jimmy Fallon — with the help of supermodel Carol Alt — has created a workout video that he believes will really sell the legislation to the American public. WATCH THE VIDEO AFTER THE JUMP!

Cindy, Eva Are Linked Against Leukemia

May 20th, 2008

Eva Mendes amps up the attitude during the DKMS Links Against Leukemia Gala held at Capitale in NYC. We’re told she’s not talking to print, so it’s time for a shout-out.

As caviar, smoked salmon and champagne go around, my well-connected reporter friend takes the fall. “Scarlett got engaged, are congratulations in order from you?” she says. (They both star in the forthcoming flick The Spirit.)

Eva shoots back, “I call and tell my friends. I don’t need to tell a reporter.”

Luckily, honoree Cindy Crawford is willing to open up because the cause is close to her heart. She tells me she was 10 when her brother Jack died of leukemia at age 4. What a heartbreaker.

“The technology that could’ve saved his life wasn’t available,” the Cavalli-clad supermodel says. (In person, her voice is small, her mole is prominent and her heart is huge.)

Sex and the City’s Mario Cantone urges everyone to “get swabbed in the mouth.”

“I was unaware of the small percentage available to find a match for a bone marrow transplant for leukemia,” he says. “It’s not just about matching a blood donor, it’s about matching the DNA. It’s impossible. And the bone marrow transplant is just a blood thing. The blood comes out, goes back in, they take the nutrients they need and it goes back in. It’s an outpatient process.”

Natasha Bedingfield lights up when she sees my P.A. pal, who also hails from England. “I miss the accents,” she pines. When asked for her first crush, she busts out. “There’s my first crush, right here,” she says to a male reporter. Hahaha!

Outgoing Carol Alt is thrilled to chat about everything under the sun. She’s the best! She says she’s skinnier than ever thanks to a raw food diet. “I have to eat to keep my weight on, and that’s a blessing. I starved as a model. Starved!”

Morgan Fairchild says “hi.” Wait! I have a question for her! The publicist tries to chase her down, but alas, no luck.

Get this – DKMS raises more than $1 million during this event. Woo-hoo!

Celebs Play Pranks For April Fool’s Day

April 1st, 2008

Celebs love to catch their friends and family off-guard on April Fool’s Day.

“One time I pranked my mom and told her that I was married,” Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester star tells me. “That was really, really mean. But then she got me back and told me something terrible that I forget, but I really believed it. I fell really hard for that one. So she got me back. It was so mean.”

Mya pulled a fast one on a friend.

“This is really bad,” she warns. “One of my friends is a producer in California – we have a brother/sister relationship – he pulled a prank on me so I figured I owed him one. I was on the House of Blues tour in 2003, and I invited him to one of my shows in Anaheim, California, on a date when I had already performed in Anaheim. So what he did was rented a limo, invited people and showed up the day after I performed. I gave him backstage passes and told him he was on the guest list for seven. He was totally embarrassed, but I owed him one.” (She cracks up laughing.)

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz likes to dress as a woman on this day of pranks. “Anytime I’m wearing anything I’m probably borrowing it from my girlfriend.” Watch out, Ashlee Simpson!

Daughtry goof while touring with Bon Jovi.

Chris was up there singing acoustic, so right as he paused, we just slammed our instruments as loud and as metal as we could,” bassist Josh Paul tells me. “He didn’t know what was going on; he couldn’t see us. All he knew was uh! As quickly as it began, it stopped, and he had to go back to the song.”

Chris adds, “Yeah, but it took about five minutes to get to the second verse because there was a lot of hysteria going on after that. It was a very serious song, but I found it very hard to get serious again after that. I was laughing through the second verse.”

Ashleigh Banfield tells me, “I’m no George Clooney, I’ll tell you that. I’m not that clever. I guess I hoodwinked my husband into asking me to marry him. That’s a good one!”

We won’t see Celebrity Apprentice contestant Carol Alt spoofing.

“I’m not a prankster,” she tells me. “I’m more of a serious person, believe it or not. I don’t play pranks.”

Three Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold tells me, “We don’t play pranks much because we know that we’ll get carried away. If one person does something, the other person’s going to come back and it’s just going to get bad.”

Singer Chrisette Michele tells me, “I hated my math teacher. In tenth grade, I told all the kids in math class that at 11:01 to drop their pencils and put their heads down and go to sleep. I will never forget that day. It was wonderful.”

Did they listen?

“Of course they did,” she says. “I was a leader! I didn’t do very well in math though.”

In the spirit of April Fool’s Day, Tom Hanks shares his best dirty joke.

“A guy is standing in an elevator with another guy,” he tells me. “They’re going up a lot of floors. The guy turns and goes ‘excuse me, have you ever been camping?’ And the other guy goes ‘no, I’ve never been camping.’ The guy goes ‘well, if you were to wake up one morning with your pants around your ankles and your buttocks smeared with Vaseline, would you tell anybody?’ The guy says ‘well, I don’t suppose I would tell anybody if I woke up with my pants around my ankles and my buttocks smeared with Vaseline.’ The other fella says ‘you wanna go camping?’”

Have fun, everyone.

Carol Alt Eats Her Way To Beautiful

March 20th, 2008

Celebrity Apprentice star Carol Alt sings the praises of raw food.

“I look pretty damn good for 80, don’t you think?” the former supermodel, 47, chuckles. “You’ve gotta eat those raw nuts, baby! Both kinds.” (Yikes!)

She claims she doesn’t work out, and attributes her flawless physique to her raw diet, which she wrote about in 2004’s Eating In The Raw and her forthcoming tome Recipes From All Over That I Collected That Were Really Easy. Among her favorites are raw ice cream from Pure Food and Wine and raw carmelized nut mixes from Good Stuff By Mom And Me.

“Technically, I eat more now than I ever ate as a model,” she tells me. “I stay the same weight and my energy’s unbelievable. Everybody touches my hair and goes ‘you’ve got so much hair!’ Most people I touch their hair and it goes right to their scalp. It’s absolutely the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

Does she believe in plastic surgery?

“Absolutely. If you’re unhappy, life’s too freakin’ short. Do what you’ve gotta do to make yourself happy. Just try not to do anything too radical that it kills you. Check your doctors out. Make sure you’re getting somebody really good.”

Scandal Brews During ‘Pettigrew’ Screening

March 5th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Amy Adams is the draw for the special screening of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, which takes place at NYC’s Tribeca Grand Hotel.

But the Narciso Rodriguez-clad redhead wearing a cutesy gold-and-black bow doles out a hug and saunters into the theater, snubbing print reporters. I certainly can’t imagine why. I was going to ask her if she would record an album since she sings in the flick. Scary, right? Hmm. A fellow red carpet reporter fills me in. Apparently, PETA is picketing outside because Amy dons a fur in the film.

Morgan Freeman and his wife swan by, but Frances McDormand eschews press completely. “She’s enjoying the night with her family,” a rep tells me. Hmm, isn’t it her movie? Isn’t she supposed to be working — pimping her product?

Celebrity Apprentice star and former supermodel Carol Alt gives out her best financial advice. She urges couples to keep their personal bank accounts completely separate because she got burned in divorce court.

Here’s Tom Payne, the Brit who plays Phil Goldman in the dramedy about two women who switch places in the 1930s.

“I was naked in bed during my first scene with Amy,” he tells me. “I’m with Frances and Amy in this bed with only a small something to cover my decency, and that was hard. I had to leave out of bed and put my clothes on in front of these actresses I admire and respect. That was crazy. The sheets were silk, so there was a lot of sweat going on. It wasn’t the most romantic, but it was great.”

The lights begin to flash. Time to start the show.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day is in theaters Friday.

Ousted Celebrity Apprentice Speaks!

February 28th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Ousted Celebrity Apprentice contestant Marilu Henner may have been sacrificed by a teammate last week, and surprisingly enough, it wasn’t Omarosa!

As project manager of selling a product on QVC, Marilu’s team lost because they didn’t tap into the network’s EasyPay payment plan, a little gem of information her team member, Carol Alt, failed to mention. “Carol and I had worked together before and she was very supportive that day,” Marilu tells me. “But now, after seeing the show and seeing her face, I realized she must have known, and she was just trying to take me out.”

Ouch! Even though Carol may have sold Marilu down the river, she admits the crown of cruel still belongs to Ms. O. “Omarosa’s a great girl, but you don’t get to see it, because you’re watching the character she’s chosen to play,” Marilu explains. “I watched the first episode and thought, ‘Damn, she’s got the best part. She’s the villain!’”

The QVC task was even more of a challenge since Marilu, who was her team’s on-air talent, suffered a technical glitch on live TV. “I was hearing another show in my ear piece,” she reveals. “I could sort of hear Piers [Morgan], but it was all garbled. They fixed it for the next guys.”

Double ouch! It just doesn’t seem fair that Marilu, who was one of the show’s nicer players, would walk away from this charity fundraising opportunity empty-handed. “Just keep watching the show, that’s all I’m saying,” Marilu teases.

Back in the real world, Marilu is getting ready to release her next book. “It’s called Wear Your Life Well: How to Use What You Have to Get What You Want,” she says. “The chapters are based on the best of classes I teach on my Web site, Marilu.com, which is everything from learning to love the foods that love you to using acting techniques to help create the life you’ve always wanted to have.”

Carol and Omarosa may want to sign up, soon.

The Celebrity Apprentice airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Celebrity Apprentice Brawl!

February 14th, 2008

On The Celebrity Apprentice tonight, nemeses Piers Morgan and Omarosa really get into it. “They really hate each other,” ousted Apprentice Nely Galan admits. “They just don’t get along, and I think it’s just going to get ugly.”

Luckily, our on-the-scene reporter, Ravi Yande, who attended The Celebrity Apprentice viewing party last week at Tenjeune, a nightclub in New York City, got to mingle with the remaining celebs who have managed to keep themselves in check. Here’s what Carol Alt and Marilu Henner had to say about their apprenticeships so far…

Carol Alt

What did you take away from the show?
I learned that my gut is usually right on…that when you are doing the right thing and you are spirited in the right place, everything will fall into place.

What was it like being in that famous board room with "The Donald?"
I was across the table from him quite often as everyone saw (laughs). I was dragged into the board room every night except for the night that I won, and in that case it was interesting. Every time you went into the boardroom he was giving you pearl of wisdom on how to win the game. And if you weren’t listening you lose.

You are a big advocate of raw food. Did you bring any on the set with you?
I lived on green bars…because they were bringing in pizza and Chinese and I was not able to eat that. I was not going to compromise my health and the way I eat. And I really couldn’t eat it cause we were so stressed and pushed. It was 21 hours a day with only three hours of sleep.

Marilu Henner

Did you enjoy being on the show?
I loved it! I was a big fan of the show, soI jumped at the chance when they asked me to do it. The challenge of waking up everyday and not knowing what we were going to face and doing everything on the run, it sort of suited my energy.

You look incredible. How do you stay in great shape?
No dairy, no meat, no sugar. And I eat small meals throughout the day. I eat fish, grains and brown rice and drink lots and lots of water.

What are you doing for Valentine’s Day?

We were going to spend the night at home, but we have been invited to Barry Manilow’s concert in Los Angeles, so we’ll probably be there.

The Celebrity Apprentice airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
