New Cast of Dancing with the Stars Announced

There’s been a lot going down on the Dancing With the Stars set, besides the mamba and the quick-step, that is.
Shawn Johnson has thanked fans after a stalker with two loaded guns in his car was found near the Dancing With the Stars set in L.A. on March 24. A restraining order has been issued against Robert O’Ryan, 34.
“Everyone keeps telling me to ‘just keep smiling’ and go on like everything is okay,” the gymnast, 17, wrote on her blog.
Meanwhile, an injured Holly Madison, 29, described her bruised rib as “not too serious.” She told NYC’s radio station WPLJ on March 30, “There’s nothing I can do but rest.”
The same advice goes for Steve Wozniak, 58, who has a fractured foot.
“He wasn’t created to dance, but he’s found a way,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba tells OK!.

Rabble-rousing do-gooder Sheryl Crow wants others to get involved. At a recent concert for Mercedes-Benz’ House of BlueTec she chided the crowd for not helping out more, reports Rush & Molloy. “How many of you have been to New Orleans after Katrina?” After minimal applause, Crow crowed, “Wow. One person. That’s a start, right?” She then laughed and said, “We’re all screwed.”
Maybe the show should be called Dancing Naked With the Stars? DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba admitted to Steppin’ Out magazine that her favorite part of performing as a back-up dancer on tour with Madonna was performing topless. Carrie Ann! “It was so liberating," she said. "Madonna knows how to push all your buttons.”
Actress Leelee Sobieski was spotted out and about with a new guy: super preppy Legally Blonde star Matt Davis, reports Page Six. Sobieski’s previously been linked to Sean Lennon and Josh Hartnett. The two attended a party together in L.A., and "Matt had his hands all over her, touching her waist and rear end. It was very cute, and they definitely looked together," a witness said.
OK! Interview: Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli
January 16th, 2008
Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli put their War aside — Dance War, that is — to sit down with OK! for a meal and a chat. Over lunch at Ketchup (click here for recipes), the choreographers, who are each training a team of dancers/singers to face off with each other on the show, opened up about their dancing days, what’s up for the next season of Dancing With the Stars and their favorite meals.
What do you think of Dance War so far?
Carrie Ann: I’m very excited. They’re such great performers and I really want people to get to know them. It’s about people feeling attached to not only Bruno and me, but also the performers and the groups and I think they all did really well.
Bruno: I couldn’t be more pleased. The kids are good; it’s entertaining. I’m proud of them. They did a great job.
What do you hope for in the coming weeks?
Carrie Ann: I hope for a lot of quality time with the kids in the studio because that’s where you start to find each other’s personalities and when you’re developing a team like this, it’s about learning how to work with each other and collaborate. I think the only way you can do that is in the studio. I really want these kids to start to feel comfortable with each other, like they can explore and push their boundaries in rehearsals.
Bruno: You see them do all these live numbers, different styles and, of course, the horrible elimination process, which is part of the game. There’s a lot of drama and a lot of entertainment and a lot of fights, I believe.
Carrie Ann, what do you think of Bruno?
I love Bruno. I think he’s one of the most colorful people I’ve ever met and I know he’s so creative and he’s very intelligent. We have very different ways of doing things so I think we’re fairly matched. But people say I’m at a disadvantage because he’s had more experience than me, but I’m not afraid!
Bruno, what do you think of Carrie Ann?
She’s a friend. We work very close together. You couldn’t wish for a better partner. It just clicked in from day one. Perfect casting. It’s unusual because Len [Goodman] and I did it before, we came here and usually when you put something new in the equation, you don’t know if it’s going to work and Carrie Ann was her own self from day one. That is great. It’s really teamwork and it just happened.
Carrie Ann: I’m always blown away at how creative he can be with those comments and sometimes I’m envious he’s able to say things so eloquently, with so much color!
Do you guys hang out or go to dinner?
Carrie Ann: Not that often. I don’t go out that much. I have a boyfriend [dancer Artem Chigvintsev] at home and so any minute that I don’t have to be at work, I try to spend it with my friends and my family and my boyfriend.
Carrie Ann, you were raised in Hawaii. What did you grow up eating?
Spam! [laughs] And hot dogs. But also a lot of fresh fruit. I’m very lucky because I love fruit and to this day, that has saved me because I’d much rather have fruit than cookies. In regards to my diet now, I eat more for nutrition. I think as a dancer, most of my life, I ate to remain thin whereas now I eat to give my body the nourishment to get through these grueling days.
And you, Bruno? What did you grow up eating in Italy?
My grandmother used to cook for eight every day — sitting down lunches and dinner, the way you do it in Italy, you sit down. And when my parents could afford their own place, I went with them but still my mother used to work but used to come back from work to cook lunch for my father, come back from work, cook dinner for my father and me. First, we didn’t have microwaves, anyway, but it was a prepared meal every day, twice a day. My mother, on Sundays, used to prepare things to use during the week, like freshly made broth. It wasn’t chicken stock or pasta sauces. She always made her own homemade pasta. So, the amount of dedication that goes into what these people used to do — it was a long time ago but you come to appreciate the hard work and the care about little things.
Dancing With the Stars starts up right after Dance War ends. Is that correct?
Carrie Ann: We’ll have maybe a couple weeks off and I’ll maybe go off to a spa or something and pull myself back together and get ready.
Bruno: Well, I have to go back to London because I got something else cooking which you’ll know about. I’ll be back here on 10th of March.
How will you top last season?
Carrie Ann: How can you top Marie Osmond fainting? Is that what you’re asking? I don’t think that’s possible.
Bruno: You can always do better. We always want to do better. It’s the same, but better!

OK! Cookbook: Dance War Feast
January 16th, 2008
Though they may get into heated arguments on Dancing With the Stars, there was no food fight between Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli when they dined with OK! at Los Angeles restaurant Ketchup. Currently facing off on ABC’s Dance War, the two forgoed diets to chow down on burgers, hot dogs and fries, topped off with strawberry shortcake for dessert! And you can do just the same — check out the recipes below!

Strawberry Shortcake
Serves: 10
Prep time: 30 mins.
Cook time: 12-15 mins.
Difficulty: Medium
Cake ingredients
2 3/4 cups cake flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp. + 1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
10 tbsp. chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1-ounce pieces
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp. orange zest
1 tbsp. Grand Marnier
Instructions
1. Combine all the dry ingredients in the Kitchen Aid mixing bowl. With the whisk attachment, work on medium until mix is combined.
2. While the flour is working in the mixing bowl, put the orange zest in a cold stainless steel saucepan, and put flame to medium. When you can smell the orange zest, add the Grand Marnier and flambé. Remove as soon as the flame dies out, and add the zest to the butter.
3. Add the butter to the dry ingredients.
4.When the mixture has come together, use the dough hook and pour the cream in a smooth thin stream. Before the dough forms a ball, remove from the mixing bowl and finish on a lightly floured surface by kneading.

Fired Celebrity Apprentice Speaks!
January 16th, 2008
Here’s the real reason Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comaneci got kicked off the second round of The Celebrity Apprentice. It’s not because she had nothing to contribute. “The only task I was given to do was to pick the music, the same music the guys picked, which was a winner,” she laughs. Nadia’s got to get her moves down to audition for her next dream reality show, Dancing With the Stars!
“I wanna do that. I like to perform,” she tells me. “At the semi-finals, I met Carrie Ann Inaba. She said that she watched me when I competed in the Olympics in Montreal, and then she made a big pause and said, ‘You have to be on the show!’”
We’ll have to wait until March when DWTS returns to see if Nadia got her wish. For now, Nadia’s focusing her energies on a project close to her heart back in her native country of Romania. “I’m building a children’s hospital called the Nadia Comaneci Children’s Clinic for children who are orphans or whose families can not afford to treat them if they get sick,” she says.
Nadia, who’s married to fellow Olympic gold medalist Bart Conner, has also got her hands busy with 19-month-old son Dylan Paul. “We take in the gym. He can hold himself on the bar for a few seconds. We put him in a handstand and he loves it,” she says. But there’s no pressure on for Dylan to follow his famous parents onto the professional gymnastics floor. “He may end up being a great piano player,” she laughs.
As for her early ousting, Nadia said the Empresario’s second loss may have been avoided, if they had just tapped into their celeb status like the boys did. “They wouldn’t have used my voice because I have a Romanian accent, but I could have done some tricks with the dog,” exclaims the gymnast.

Carrie Ann Inaba Has Baby Fever
January 8th, 2008
January has turned out to be a big month for Carrie Ann Inaba. The Dancing With the Stars judge blew out 40 candles on Jan. 5 and celebrated the premiere of her new show Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann on Monday night.
So what more can she ask for?
“I would love to have a show like this and to have a child in one year," Carrie Ann tells OK! after the live Dance War debut at the PAMA sponsored event. "It would be too much to ask for. But it would be amazing. But, you know, you have to wait for God to bless you."
The former Fly Girl, who’s "happy and very excited" about turning 40, has been dating dancer Artem Chigvintsev, 25, for two years, and he made sure to go all out for his lady’s big birthday.
"He had an amazing dinner planned for us at the Peninsula [Beverly Hills Hotel] and it was the most fabulous setup," she says. " They set the table; we had a private room; we had the most amazing food and wine. It was just a really intimate evening with my dearest friend.”
Extending the festivities, Carrie Ann also threw a party on Jan. 7 at Les Deux in Hollywood to celebrate both her 40th milestone and the debut of Dance War, a seven-week reality series in search of the ultimate entertainer who can both dance and sing.
Fittingly, as she thinks about becoming a mother herself, Carrie Ann tells OK! she feels like a “mom” to the 14 young contestants whom she will help train on the show. “I’m so proud of these truly talented kids.”
DVR THIS: DANCE WAR: BRUNO VS. CARRIE ANN
January 7th, 2008
Back in the day, men used to settle a dispute by getting their boogie on in the streets (West Side Story and Michael Jackson’s "Bad," anyone?). Now Dancing With the Stars’ vocal judges, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba, will get their chance to work it out on the new series Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann, premiering tonight on ABC. They’ll each create their own singing and dancing super group to compete against one another, and let America decide who belongs on top. “We have auditioned across the country and found some incredible talent,” Carrie Ann tells me. “Instead of sitting behind the podium, we’ll be in the rehearsals with the kids, working our groups nonstop.” Hope those kids don’t need to sleep or eat! The 40-year-old dancer-turned-mentor says the most important objective for her group is “doing our best to make something we can be proud of.”
Better be careful Carrie Ann. Knowing Bruno, he’ll be all about copping that trophy!
Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann premieres live Mon., Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
