Carson Daly & Girlfriend Welcome a Son

March 16th, 2009

Carson Daly is officially a dad! Congrats to the Last Call host and his girlfriend Siri Pinter, who welcomed son Jackson James Daly Sunday night, E! News has confirmed.

This is the first child for both Daly, 35, and Pinter. According to Daly’s rep, Heather Lylis, the "parents are both ecstatic. They have a happy and healthy baby boy."

Daly, who in years past was linked to Jennifer Love Hewitt and Tara Reid, revealed in November that he was going to be a father.

"He’s always wanted to be a dad, and he’s excited about the holidays and spending them together with family and friends," Lylis said at the time.

T.I. Says Chris Brown Is “A Little Concerned”

February 10th, 2009

Rapper T.I. is no stranger to scandal – as he’s about to serve a year in jail starting next month on weapons charges – so it’s no wonder he’s already advising Chris Brown.

The hip-hop star told Carson Daly on Last Call that he’d already spoken to his buddy, who was arrested on Sunday and released on bail after an alleged domestic violence incident with girlfriend Rihanna.

“He’s cool, you know. I guess he’s a little concerned about the situation, but he’s still the same Chris," T.I. revealed. “I told him this too shall pass."

While T.I. says he doesn’t know what went down between the two in the early hours of Sunday morning, he does caution the public against jumping to judgment.

“Hey man, you people gotta remember, we celebrities and we entertainers but we’re still human. All of us,” he said. "Don’t expect us not to make mistakes ‘cause we will.”

Carson Daly to Be a Dad

November 26th, 2008

Carson Daly is going to be a daddy!

The talk show host, 35, and his girlfriend Siri Pinter are expecting a child, Daly’s publicist confirmed. It will be the first child for both the Last Call with Carson Daly host and Pinter, an NBC associate producer who has worked at Daly’s show and Last Comic Standing.

Additional details of the pregnancy were not available on Wednesday.

An L.A. native, Daly got his start as a radio deejay in L.A., then later gained notoriety as the host of MTV’s TRL (Total Request Live). During that time he dated and became engaged to Tara Reid. The couple infamously broke up in 2001 after postponing their wedding.  In 2002, Daly left TRL to host his own talk show, NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly.

So Long, TRL

September 16th, 2008

At a time when many shows don’t make it 10 episodes on the air, much less 10 years, MTV’s TRL (or Total Request Live as it was originally called) is practically a dinosaur.

And now the clock is definitely ticking on the aged TV veterans – the executive producer of TRL, Dave Sirulnick, announced that the show will come to the end this November in a Saturday afternoon two-hour special. While he says the show isn’t completely cancelled, the MTV exec says it’s time for a break.

"We want to close this era of TRL in a big celebratory way, and 10 is a great number," says Sirulnick. "And 10 is the number that TRL counted down every single day for 10 years, and we hit this 10th (anniversary) and we thought, `You know what? This feels like the right time and let’s celebrate it and let’s reward it. And let’s let it have a little bit of a rest for a minute.’ Let it catch its breath! Been working hard — for 10 years!"

In the beginning the show, hosted by Carson Daly, was a vehicle that seemed to be made for jettisoning pretty young pop stars to the top, and also featured hot celebrities and movie stars.

The last installment will hopefully include many of the "folks who helped make TRL what it is — whether that’s Justin (Timberlake) and his guys in N’Sync, the Backstreet Boys, Britney, Eminem — I think we would love to see all of them here."

MTV’s newest video show, FNMTV, will return to the channel in November as well, although without the 10-video countdown format of TRL.

Carson Daly Defies Strike

Starting tomorrow Carson Daly will resume taping his late night show Last Call With Carson Daly. The show has yet to announce who will be on the show and what day next week it will begin to air new episodes.

“He wanted to go back to support his staffers,” the network spokeswoman said.

The writers’ strike has been in effect since Nov. 5 and there’s still no word on when the remaining late-night shows will go back to taping new episodes.
