Judge: Kevin Gets the Kids!

October 30th, 2007 / Author: OK! Staff

After days of waiting for commissioner Scott Gordon to issue his ruling in the Britney Spears/Kevin Federline custody case, it’s finally happened — and neither side is walking away with total control.

According to the just-released ruling, Kevin will maintain custody of boys Sean Preston and Jayden James, while Britney is allowed two visits per week — one for seven hours from noon to 7 p.m., and the other an overnight stay from noon until 10 a.m. the following day.

Per the judge’s ruling, a major reason for the decision was the testimony of court-appointed parenting coach Lisa Hacker, who reported that Brit failed to meet with her on three separate occasions. Also, Hacker noted that while the singer “loves her children and the children are bonded to [Britney],” she also felt that the pop-tart’s “interactions with the children are not child-centered.”

As the document released by the court this afternoon reads, “It seems that [Britney’s] choices are more dependent on what she wants to do at any given time rather than on what would be more enjoyable for the children.” Hacker added that during her three visits to the Spears home, “Ms. Spears rarely engaged with the children in either conversation or play.”

The parenting coach also expressed concern about the lack of childproofing in Britney’s home. To that end, the court has ordered that Brit must have her entire pool area childproofed by the end of this week .

Furthermore, Britney must continue with twice-weekly random drug tests for the next 60 days, after which the tests are reduced to once a week.

Lawyers for both parties are to provide the court with a schedule of proposed visitation dates by November 2.

Britney Loses Her Kids… Again

October 18th, 2007

It was going so well for a few days there…

Earlier this morning, court commissioner Scott Gordon issued an order suspending Britney Spears‘ recently re-earned visitation rights to her two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James.

According to the order the singer can’t hang out with her young ‘uns until after she learns to comply with the court orders requiring her to take twice-weekly random drug tests and undergo counseling.

Here’s the document:

Update: Britney Flees Intervention

October 6th, 2007

After a marathon intervention session with her mother, sister and ex-husband, Britney Spears appears to be back to her usual unusual behavior.

Around 7 p.m. PST on Saturday, the pop star stormed out of her Malibu home, where she had been locked in conversation with her family since the early morning hours, and sped off once more in her white convertible with a parade of more than three dozen photographers trailing her.

Her first destination was the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica — though it was more of a drive-by than a pit stop, as Britney only pulled into the valet area, had a brief discussion with a parking attendant and then got back on the road; all without leaving the car.

Next on Brit’s latest tour of SoCal’s celebrity hotspots was only 100 yards down the road at the Ivy at the Shore restaurant. Once again, her visit here was exceptionally brief as she left without eating and headed straight back home to her gated community off Mulholland Drive.

No statement yet from Britney or her family as to how and why their talks broke down.

OK! Exclusive: The Final Straw for Britney

October 5th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Access Hollywood
and Celebrity Exposé host Tony Potts talked to OK! about the twists and turns in the Britney Spears/Kevin Federline custody war.

"I’m not surprised at all that she lost her kids based on the way she has behaved since the first order came down," Tony, who has followed Brit closely over the years, explains to OK!. "She was out at a club that night, and last Thursday or Friday she was out in Newport Beach."

And as for Brit’s bizarre behavior, Tony has a theory. "Drugs will do it to anybody. If you give me a drug, in an hour I won’t be the same person."

And while the Hollywood insider is convinced that Brit’s career isn’t completely done and gone, he does warn that "there is a fatigue factor with the public." I think people are pulling for her because of the kids. They hope for her well-being, and in the music industry, if you have a great song, you can come back."

But he feels all is not lost for the pop star, as long as she’s willing to get herself together. "Well, I hope that losing your kids is the final straw and that she gets some help, but nothing with her is ever predictable."

"If people around her are suddenly worried, they’re idiots," he added, "They should have been worried for months and months and months. My hope is that this is a wake-up call and she powwows and brings her mom back and goes into rehab like Lindsay did."

Next week on Tony’s new MyNetworkTV show, Celebrity Exposé (Mondays, 8 p.m. ET), he dedicates the entire show to the wild ride of Britney’s life and career.

Dr. Phil Chimes In On Britney Spears

October 4th, 2007

On today’s episode of Dr. Phil, he examined Britney’s case from all angles, including those of her mom, Lynne.

He said he knows Lynne and feels she is a "solid asset" for Britney and thinks that Britney should start taking her mom’s advice and reconcile with her family.

He added that he knows "she loves Britney." And that Britney needs to get help for her "toxic brain" and that he thinks that Britney really loves Jayden and Sean.

Is Britney Hurting Her Children?

September 26th, 2007

When Britney Spears took her two-year-old son Sean Preston shopping on Sept. 21, the frenzy of the paparazzi caused the infant to cry. And this wasn’t the first time the beleaguered pop star has been accused of putting her kids in harm’s way of the media.

And new court papers are raising the question of whether or not Britney has been overly physical with her kids — Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James. In the papers, L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled “each party is restrained from using corporal punishment with the minor children and from allowing anyone else to use it.”

And while Brit was known to get physical with ex-husband Kevin Federline — “She threw things at him,” one insider reveals to OK! — Would she dare act like that to her own children?

Britney Spears Charged With Hit & Run!

September 21st, 2007 / Author: OK! Staff

According to papers filed today, Britney Spears, who allegedly got into a parking lot fender bender on Aug. 6, has been charged with one count of hit-and-run causing property damage and one count of driving without a valid California license. If found guilty, the troubled pop star could face up to six months in jail.

This afternoon, Britney broke down into tears as she entered her lawyer’s office. "She pulled up in the car, and then suddenly tears started streaming down her face," one eyewitness tells OK!.

What effect these charges will have on Britney’s continuing custody battle with ex Kevin Federline remains to be seen.

Britney’s Wild Night

September 19th, 2007

Considering the last two days of Britney Spears life, in which a former bodyguard came forward to allege that the pop star abused drugs and alcohol, and the judge in her ongoing child custody battle ordering her to undergo regular testing for illicit substances and to meet several hours a week with a parenting counselor, you’d think the last place she’d want to be seen was out and about is an L.A. club. Well, you’d be wrong.

At 12:45 a.m. last night, OK! witnessed Brit exiting L.A. club Winston’s with Avril Lavigne and a handful of others. They all piled into a black Cadillac Escalade and headed over to Hyde nightclub, where they met up with other young celeb-types, including Cisco Adler and Leelee Sobieski.

While Avril made her exit from Hyde at 1:45 a.m. with billionaire layabout Brandon Davis and Britney’s cousin, Alli Sims, Britney remained inside until after 2 a.m., at which point she slipped out in a white Mercedes convertible with a female friend.

No word yet on whether or not the pop princess needs to be worried about failing that first court-ordered test.

Britney: “I’ll Starve Myself!”

September 19th, 2007

UPDATE: Only hours after being ordered to undergo drug and alcohol testing, Britney was out and about on the L.A. club scene, first hitting up Winston’s nightclub with her cousin Alli Sims and fellow pop star Avril Lavigne, and then moving on later to Hyde. More to come on this one…

As the judge in her custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline orders Britney Spears to undergo testing for drug and alcohol use, OK! can report that friends of the beleaguered pop star are worried sick that her starve-and-bing relationship with food may be pushing her even deeper into despair.

"Britney told me, ‘I’ll starve myself because I’m fat,’" one friend of the singer reveals to OK!. "She kept telling me she thought I was fat and disgusting."
