Sharon Stone “Deeply Sorry” About Earthquake Remarks

May 29th, 2008

Sharon Stone has apologized for suggesting China’s devastating earthquakes were the result of "bad karma."

"Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people," Sharon said in a statement. "I am willing to take part in the relief work of China’s earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people."

During an interview at the Cannes Film Festival, the actress said the May 12 disaster, which killed 68,000 people, was connected to China’s policy on Tibet.

"I’m not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don’t think anyone should be unkind to anyone else," she said.

As a result, the 50-year-old was dropped from Christian Dior’s Chinese ads and the Chinese government banned Sharon’s films from the country’s cinemas.

"We don’t agree with her hasty, unreflecting remarks and we deeply regret them," a statement from Dior read. "Dior was one of the first international brands to enter China and has won the affection and respect of the consuming public. We absolutely do not support any remark that hurts the Chinese people’s feelings."

Qin Gang, China’s Foreign Ministry has also expressed disappointment in Sharon’s remarks.

"We hope that as an American actress she can contribute to our two people’s trust, understanding and friendship," he said.

OK! Interview: Survivor Champ Todd Herzog

December 17th, 2007 / Author: OK! Staff

After outwitting, outplaying and outlasting his fellow castaways for several months, Todd Herzog was crowned the ultimate winner of Survivor: China during a live broadcast from L.A. And OK! was there to ask the 22-year-old Utah-native just how he plans on spending his hard-earned million-dollar prize. “I’m going to enjoy that money!" the flight attendant tells OK!. "I’m going to go to Disneyland, buy a car, get a Merry Christmas for my family, invest and go back to school.”

Todd, the second openly gay champ of the CBS reality hit, earned his victory by being simultaneously backstabbing and charming. “I would say I’m just me," Todd explains. "I don’t try to be somebody else. I’m proud of that. If people don’t like me, they can kiss my butt.”

Todd’s advice for future contestants?: “I would honestly say never give up. I auditioned three times and the third time was the charm. I made it. As long as you keep trying, you will make it. It was my dream. I’m so proud to be here. It was magical. As cheesy as it sounds, this is something that I’ve always wanted.”

The resilient winner says that the first thing he did when getting home from China was to chow down. “I got four Snickers bars and I dipped them in peanut butter and rolled them in M&Ms and ate all four within about five minutes." But he wasn’t done just yet: "Then I ate an entire can of Pringles, half of a pizza, and seven cups of coffee, followed by a bowl of chocolate ice cream.”

Top Model’s Exotic Location Revealed

September 19th, 2007

America’s Next Top Model launches its ninth cycle tonight, but you won’t have to wait to find which country the models-in-training will visit for their international modeling experience.

“It’s China,” judge Nigel Barker told OK! last night during the Gossip Girl premiere party at Tenjune lounge in New York City. “It’s the farthest we’ve ever gone on the show, and when we get there, we decide one city is not enough, we have to visit two.”

Nigel also revealed the show has another plus-sized model this season and its first autistic contestant. “The models are so much more flamboyant and so much more interesting, and it becomes wilder and wilder,” he declared. “This is probably going to be the best season ever."

America’s Next Top Model, cycle 9 season premiere airs tonight at 8 p.m. on The CW.
