Cynthia Nixon’s Wedding Plans

May 18th, 2009

Although Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni announced just yesterday that they’re engaged, their betrothal happened a month ago, plenty of time to start planning.

First things first, though: is there jewelry involved?

“There is a ring. There’s a beautiful ring," Cynthia tells Extra. Christine doesn’t have one yet, as Cynthia explains, "She will have a wedding ring but she does not want an engagement ring."

As for the place and time, that’s already being discussed between the twosome, who have been together since 2003.

"We’re hoping to do it in New York. We’re not going to wait forever, but we’re hoping it’s just around the corner," she says. "Sometime I think before the end of next summer, but we don’t have a date.”

Cynthia Nixon Engaged

May 18th, 2009

Looks like wedding bells will be ringing for one of the ladies of Sex and the City: E! News reports that Cynthia Nixon announced her engagement to girlfriend Christine Marinoni this weekend in NYC.

Her rep confirms the engagement, which Cynthia revealed to audiences during the Love, Peace and Marriage Equality rally. Cynthia and Christine are currently involved in supporting the new gay-rights bill proposed by NY Gov. David Paterson to achieve equality for same-sex unions.

The couple have been together since 2003, shortly after Cynthia split with longtime companion Danny Mozes.

Congratulations!

Cynthia Nixon: Brad & Angie Inspiring

September 19th, 2008

While many in the Hollywood community have been known to be generous, it seems Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been hit hard by the philanthropic bug.

Just last week the power couple donated $2 million to fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in daughter Zahara’s birthplace of Ethiopia, and then this week Brad gave $100,000 to an initiative that is working to stop a ban on gay marriages in California.

"Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8," Brad said.

Other stars have definitely noticed the Jolie-Pitt family’s generousity, including Cynthia Nixon, who ended her 15-year relationship with Danny Mozes in 2003 and has been with partner Christine Marinoni since 2004.

"I think it’s great," Cynthia told reporters of Brad’s $100K gift, while at the Sex and the City extended DVD release party at New York’s Public Library on Thursday night.

"I think it’s great the way Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie always give their money – and the things they give it to," she added. "And the enormous amounts that they give of it, is just incredibly commendable, and I think they inspire a lot of other people to give as well."

Her SATC co-star Mario Cantone also thinks Brad’s gift is generous, and wants something else from him as well.

"I want Brad Pitt to play my boyfriend [in the SATC sequel]. Why not? He gave $100,000 to the amendment … they’re trying to turn over the gay marriage law, and it’s just awful," he says of the proposed ban.

"Why are they doing that? They hate us, boy, they hate us. They gave $100,000 towards that, which is so thrilling, and he said a few years ago ‘I’m not getting married until every one else can.’ So he should play my boyfriend in the sequel."

Good luck, Mario!

Cynthia Nixon Wants to Marry Her Girlfriend

May 12th, 2008

Cynthia Nixon would like to marry her longtime girlfriend, Christine Marinoni.

The Sex and the City star says she would definitely walk down the aisle with her girlfriend of four years if same-sex marriages are recognized in the U.S.

“If it becomes legal, I think we would," Cynthia tells The Mirror. "It’s something my girlfriend is interested in and it was not something my boyfriend ever was. I think that to get married to her would be a little act of rebellion. It’s like if you’ve never had the vote and then you get it you’re going to run out there and vote.”

Always “very wary” of marriage, the 42-year-old admits she consciously avoided exchanging vows with Danny Mozes, her boyfriend of 15 years and father of her children, Samantha, 11, and Charles, 5, because “I felt like it was potentially a trap.”

“People sometimes want the party, the gifts and the public celebration of this big love - they’re excited about that rather than about the lifetime commitment,” Cynthia says. “So I always steered clear of it."

But now Christine has changed her outlook on the institution – among other things. When news of their relationship broke, many eyebrows were raised at the actress’ sudden change in sexual orientation, but Cynthia doesn’t see it that way. She was merely a woman who fell in love with another woman, she says.

“I never felt like there was an unconscious part of me that woke up or came out of the closet,” she says. “There wasn’t a struggle or an attempt to suppress. I met this woman and I fell in love with her. In terms of my sexual orientation, I don’t really feel that I changed. I don’t feel any different than I did before.”

She continues, "I had been with men all my life and I had never met a woman I had fallen in love with before. But when I did, it didn’t seem so strange. "I don’t define myself. I’m just a woman in love with another woman."

Cynthia Nixon: “I’m in Love With Her!”

March 6th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

The usually tight-lipped Cynthia Nixon opened up about her four-year relationship with Christine Marinoni, a New York state education activist.

The SATC star told reporters, "I’m in a fantastic relationship," she continued, "We shop and cook and raise children…We both pitch in." Much like in SATC, Cynthia and her partner raise her two kids, Samantha, 11, and Charles, 6, in Brooklyn.

"I’m in love with her because she’s her. If she were a man, would I be in love with her? I don’t know."

Meanwhile, Cynthia cleared the air surrounding the infamous SATC cat fighting rumors. "I don’t feel there was any. You work with people, and you have disagreements and you move on. People have preconceptions, and women together are supposed to get catty." The movie opens May 30.
