Taylor Swift’s Daydreams Come True

June 15th, 2009

While your mother might’ve warned you when you were little to be careful what you wished for, Taylor Swift has gotten exactly what she always dreamed about, and now she’s more than grateful.

"As far as burning out goes, I get tired a lot, but I never get tired of it," she told reporters backstage at the CMA music festival on June 14.

"I remember when I was a little kid, and I used to sit there and think about how lucky I would be if people cared about the words that I wrote. Or how lucky I would be if someday I was just walking through the mall and I saw some little girl walking by with my face on her shirt," she explains. "And when you spend so much time daydreaming about that stuff, when that actually happens, you don’t ever complain about it, you know? When I go to a restaurant, yeah, I know that a line will form in front of the table, but didn’t I used to wish for that? Yeah, I did."

TAYLOR LOVES HER FANS:

With more grace than most older stars, much less an average 19-year old, Taylor adds that she’s gotten just exactly what she’s wished for.

"So I never want to be the girl who wanted something so bad her whole life  –  just only one thing  –  and then gets it, and complains about it. I’m not going to be that girl.

Taylor Swift Is On Top Of The World

September 11th, 2008

Taylor Swift is one busy teen. During the CMA Music Festival, the 18-year-old country star signed autographs for nine hours, and took the stage as a host with Kellie Pickler and Julianne Hough during Monday’s concert special, CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night To Rock. And just yesterday, she received a female vocalist of the year nomination for the CMA Awards, which take place in November. Go, Taylor!

“She’s a golden girl,” Rascal FlattsJay DeMarcus says. “I think she’s going to be around for a long, long time. She’s such an inspiration to young girls. They want to be Taylor Swift. My niece wants to be her.”

In this interview, Taylor talks about her friendship with Carrie Underwood and Kellie, meeting fans and her dream duet.

Did you get to hang out with your pals Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler during your time in Nashville?

We haven’t gotten to hang out at all! It’s just so crazy that we all have different stuff scheduled all the time. But I got to hang with Carrie a little bit backstage because I was hosting the ABC special and so I got to see her. Kellie and I have been seeing each other all week because we’re hosting together.

What does your friendship with them mean to you?

I love them so much. They’re unbelievable. They’re like my big sisters, really, because they look out for me and they’re really, really amazing. I want to be here twenty years from now, and I want them to be right here with me.

You signed autographs for nine hours. What’s the most memorable story you heard?
Oh my gosh. I think the most memorable story is when somebody says when they were going through a breakup, your song motivated them to lose 20 lbs, get back in the game and now they’ve met the love of their life. And they give you the credit for that. Or somebody who used to love to listen to music, and then they heard my song and picked up a guitar and started writing songs and now they have a way to channel their emotions. Things like that are really moving to me.

How do you feel about your career taking off?
It’s unbelievable. I wake up every single morning and look around and I’m like ‘I can’t believe this is my life.’ I can’t believe I get to do this! Honestly, there’s a huge part of me that still can’t believe that this happened to me and that I get to do this.

Any collaborations on your next album?
I got my dream duet for this next record. I have Colbie Callait doing vocals on one of my songs, and I’m so excited about that. That was my dream duet until I had it come true.

OK! Interview: Kellie Pickler

August 28th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

American Idol alum Kellie Pickler absolutely needs her hair and makeup people, but not because she’s a spoiled, demanding diva – because she can’t do it herself.

"Well, I have a team of highly-trained professionals that get me ready because I can’t do it on my own," she tells OK!. "When I’m out on tour, I usually just do it myself but for TV and photo shoots I usually have people that help get me ready because it’s so stressful anyways."

Kellie admits that she’s a simple girl when it comes to makeup, saying "I hate wearing makeup anyway – I don’t ever wear it unless I have to." Although when it comes to mascara, she’ll hit up the nearest drug store to stock up on her favorites.

"I have 40,000 mascaras," she jokes. "For a girl that doesn’t like makeup, I have a lot."

The natural beauty definitely doesn’t need any help from makeup to catch a man either – she’s currently dating Nashville musician Kyle Jacobs. The couple keeps it casual when she’s home from tour, choosing to relax on the couch instead of hit up wild night clubs and fancy restaurants.

"When I come in off the road, I like to crash and be a bum and sit at home on the couch and just talk," says Kellie. "We don’t really have to be doing anything. We usually just enjoy each other’s company and make each other laugh."

Of fellow American Idol country sensation, Carrie Underwood, Kellie hopes she’ll find someone to laugh with too, saying the guy for her should be "someone who’s trusting and funny and a good guy who is going to treat her right."

As for any rumors swirling around Kellie herself, she’s got a positive, if not overly generous, attitude: "I’m just glad people are actually talking about me. And when they’re talking bad about me, they’re giving somebody else a break."

Watch Kellie host the CMA Music Festival special, along with fellow country gals Taylor Swift and Julianne Hough, Sept. 8 on ABC.

Carrie Underwood Longs For ‘Club Bed’

June 17th, 2008

Carrie Underwood seems to be living life in the fast lane judging by songs including Last Name, Before He Cheats, Jesus, Take The Wheel and All-American Girl.

Despite romances with Chace Crawford and others, guys needn’t worry about her poison pen.

“Oh, no, I don’t write songs about the guys I date,” she tells me backstage at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville. “Every song, though, has to have a character in it. You definitely relate certain characters to certain people. Even if I write a song, I pick a song and sing a song, I have to relate them to certain people that I know. So I may relate a little bit to friends or family or guys that I have been around.”

The 25-year-old beauty is no hell-raiser after her shows.

“I go to bed. That’s my spot. Club bed. It’s wonderful, I tell you. Yeah, there’s just so much that goes on. You get out there and boy, it’s so dang hot here! And it’s humid and everybody’s sweating. I go home and I feel like that just makes everything that much more tiring. I feel like I’ve been running a marathon in the sunshine all day.”
