Rihanna Prepares for Stage Comeback

April 15th, 2009

Almost three months after an altercation with boyfriend Chris Brown left her bloodied and bruised, Rihanna is preparing to take to the stage once again, four months after her last concert on Jan 29 in L.A.

The Umbrella star will perform on May 28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, E! News reports.

“There will be over 25,000 tickets available,” says Mary Rachelle Cherpak, a spokeswoman for Dubai Tourism. “They will be going on sale in the next couple of days.”

As for the venue, that has yet to be determined, but Cherpak says Rihanna’s stage will most likely be special.

“Normally they create a special stage in the desert for these events," she explains.

Madonna may have invited Britney Spears to pop in during one of her L.A. concert shows, but it looks like the favor will not be returned after all!

Contrary to reports, Britney will not be collaborating with Madonna while on tour. Brit’s official website just released the following statement:

"Despite rumors otherwise, at the moment Britney has no plans to collaborate with anyone in the near future at any of her upcoming performances.

P.S.- David Alexander is not Britney’s stylist nor have we ever heard of him."

Tabloid reports claimed Madonna would be appearing on stage with Brit when she hits the Big Apple on March 23, citing a stylist named "David Alexander" as their source.

The Jonas Brothers are Mama’s Boys

February 11th, 2009

The Jonas Brothers are adding "co-host" to their list of many talents. On Thursday, Feb. 12, the band will share the stage with Entertainment Tonight’s Mary Hart and The Insider’s Lara Spencer as c0-hosts for the day. The boys will also sit down for an in-depth interview where they reveal everything from their secret Valentine to the intimate details of their lives on tour.

So who is the special lady this year? "Mom!" all three brothers tell ET and The Insider. With such busy lives, it seems mom is the only one who can keep up with the band this year. Kevin, Nick and Joe tell Mary Hart and 75 lucky fans that life on tour is different for all of them.

Kevin reveals that he is the morning person in the group, while Nick is definitely the night owl. The brothers also reveal the nicknames they have for each other on the road. Kevin is "K2," Nick is "Mr. President," and Joe is "Danger."

Tune in tomorrow to find out what those nicknames mean! We know it’s peaked our interest!

The Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience opens in theaters on Feb. 27.

Madonna Confirms European Tour

January 27th, 2009

Madonna is a machine! On Tuesday, the Material Girl confirmed she is taking her Sticky & Sweet tour to Europe, beginning this summer.

Specific dates have yet to be announced, but if the singer’s Euro leg is anything like her North American shows, fans won’t be disappointed. When she was in L.A., Madonna thrilled fans with surprise performances by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. She also drew some famous names in the audience, like rumored boy-toy and New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, who danced and cheered with the crowd at her Miami concert.

The singer seems to have thrown herself into her work over the last couple of months since announcing her split from estranged husband Guy Ritchie. Madonna has reportedly moved out of their home in London and back into her place in NYC.

She has a #1 album, recently entertained audiences on Good Morning America and shared the stage with Madonna. But with the March 3 launch of her concert tour in New Orleans, Britney Spears is hoping to regain much more: to fully reclaim the adulation and fame she had exactly 10 years ago, when her controversial single "Baby One More Time" shot to the top of the charts on Jan. 30, 1999.

But it’s no secret that, as she starts to climb back to the top, there are sacrifices she’s had to make along the way — specifically, spending less time with her two adorable sons, Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2.

Now, OK! has learned exclusivly the extraordinary price the singer is paying for her comeback, voluntarily giving up the fight to regain custody of her boys in exchange for fame.

Last fall, as her upcoming concert tour was being organized, Brit’s camp discovered that because of the star’s history, they could not purchase insurance to cover her tour unless she was still under the conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears. Until that point, the plan was for the conservatorship to be lifted on Dec. 31, followed by Britney, 27, heading to family court with a petition to regain custody of Preston and Jayden.

But an insider tells OK!, "The insurance situation changed everything."

And so, on Oct. 28, the singer agreed to indefinitely accept her father as her conservator – a decision which meant she would still legally be considered a child. No judge would give her custody of her kids, nor would her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, agree to it.

"Whether it was her decision or whether she was pressured into it, Britney’s deal with the devil put the tour ahead of the kids," the insider tells OK!.

Cover Story: Britney in Crisis!

December 2nd, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Celebrating her 27th birthday on Dec. 2 in the Big Apple with a pair of show-stopping performances on Good Morning America, Britney Spears kicked off the promotional tour for her new album, Circus, with her parents, Jamie and Lynn Spears and her two boys, Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2, by her side.

But despite this upbeat ending to a year that has seen Brit overcome some of her most challenging emotional, mental, legal and professional hurdles, those familiar with the singer tell OK! she may be jumping into the deep end too quickly, especially when March rolls around and she embarks on a grueling 2-month tour  — her first in five years.

"It is too much for her," an insider tells OK! of the star. "They packed her schedule too tight and now they’re trying to find free time."

The early signs of cracks in Brit’s armor are already beginning to show, as she pulled a diva trip on the producers of the 2008 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony, where she first pledged to perform and then yo-yoed back and forth until ultimately deciding on simply filming a pre-taped greeting.

So while the Britney PR machine swings into motion, is Britney the woman ready to launch back into the glitz and glamour of superstardom?

"She has the talent and the musical chops top pull it off, emotionally speaking, it’s a little too soon," psychotherapist Dr. Jenn Berman, who does not treat Britney, tells OK!. "I don’t think Britney will hit rock bottom, but it does leave her vulnerable to stress and burnout."

However, a source close to Brit insists she’s ready, telling OK!,"She is focused. Everything is coming together."

Madonna & A-Rod Go Public!

November 11th, 2008

Alex Rodriguez’s appearance at Madonna’s L.A. concert at Dodger Stadium on Nov. 6 certainly added more fuel to the fire surrounding reports that the 33-year-old Yankee and the newly single Material Girl are no longer afraid to hide their relationship.

"Alex seemed to be enjoying himself," an eyewitness at the show tells OK!. "He was grooving to the music and paying attention to Madonna’s every move on stage."

And with meetings in L.A., Paris and New York’s Hamptons under their belt, the couple next decided to take their budding affair to–where else–Sin City! After attending Kabbalah services in L.A. with her children Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 8, and David, 3, on Nov. 7, the singer, 50, flew with them to Las Vegas for her show at the MGM Grand. A-Rod was –shocker!–also in town, and the two got together at her exclusive $15,000 a night villa at The Mansion inside the MGM Grand.

"Madonna had two plates of raw vegetables sent up to her room from Joel Robuchon for dinner," a source tells OK!. "The kids requested Chinese Food."

It seems like the New York Yankee has been committed to fitness since he’s been seeing the Material Girl–herself an infamous health fanatic.  On Nov. 6, he was seen working up a sweat at Sports Club L.A.’s West Los Angeles location. "He was here as a visitor and we were pleased to have him," an employee confirms. "A-Rod was working out with a trainer near the weights."

The buff jock also likes to hit up West Hollywood’s exclusive Equinox gym when he’s in L.A. On Nov. 3, he was spotted entering the gym wearing earphones.

"A-Rod’s been coming into the gym three or four times a week for the last two weeks," a source tells OK!. "He’s really focused when he comes in, working out for two hours with two really buff females. The women work him really hard–and they are huge, like him!"
