Britney’s Circus Goes Platinum!

January 30th, 2009

Congratulations Britney Spears! Her album, Circus, has officially been certified platinum by the R.I.A.A.

The announcement was made on Monday, ahead of the pop singer’s North American Headline tour, set to kick off in March.

What a difference a year makes! The success of Brit’s album is the topper to what has truly been a remarkable comeback by the "Womanizer" star. Since her father Jamie Spears took over as her conservator, Britney has recommitted herself to her career, slimming down to her original fit figure and reconnecting with her family.

Noticeably gone from the singer’s life are former "friends" Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib. According to TMZ, Brit’s conservators obtained a restraining order against the two on Thursday. A source close to the conservatorship tells TMZ that Brit herself asked her conservators to "protect her from Sam and Adnan."

She reportedly told her conservators that she is afraid of them both and hoped they could be locked up in jail.

The conservators believe that Lutfi and Ghalib conspired to undermine Britney’s conservatorship in a way that would have been extremely harmful to her. And remember attorney, Jon Eardley, the guy Lutfi used early last year to mount an attack against the conservatorship? He was allegedly in on the conspiracy as well.

Britney Not Getting Overnights for a While

May 6th, 2008

Although it was truly a monumental day for Britney Spears — the singer showed up to court for the first time since October to face off with her ex, Kevin Federline, in their ongoing custody battle — sources tell OK! that it didn’t go as well as some online reports would have you believe.

Reports that the pop superstar will get overnight visits with her boys within the month, and that 50/50 custody with K-Fed is imminent, are false, sources close to the case confirm to OK!.

"Britney will not get automatic overnights in the future," the insider tells OK! exclusively. "Right now, the amount of time she gets for her day visits has been increased, but no overnights are planned."

According to the source, more information is needed before the issue of overnight visits is even considered.

"The court needs to see how this first step goes for a significant amount of time," explains the insider, adding that things won’t be able to move forward until after a review of this latest expansion. "It’s not about how well she does with the boys," the source said, "But how well the boys do. That’s what it’s all about."

Until today’s decision to expand her time with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, the singer has had the boys three times a week for 3-hour, supervised visits.

Another source close to the case tells OK! that reports that the commissioner was pleased with Britney’s progress are also false. According to the insider, a return to split custody is still many, many months away, and it could be years away if the conservatorship is dissolved at its next review date on July 31.

The source says Britney’s progress is based solely on the presence of the conservatorship. The singer’s father and conservator, Jamie Spears, has a "duty to be there, not as a father or grandfather, but by law. That is what’s made the turnaround in her. Take that away, and who knows what will happen. We don’t know what she’d be without the company of the conservator."

Brit’s Lawyers Say “Pay Up!”

Britney Spears‘ conservators were back in court again on Thursday afternoon, where they discussed, among other things, the subject of payment.

Commissioner Goetz agreed to advance Andrew Wallet, Sam Ingham and attorneys for the conservators exactly half the money they are expected to bill for.
Ingham, Brit’s court-appointed attorney will be getting $10,000 a week through July 31.

Co-conservator Wallet gets $100,000 and the Luce Forward law firm will get $175,000 — and that’s just for work done through March 31.

Clark Byam, another attorney, will get $22,500. Stacy Phillips, the lawyer repping Brit in the family law case, will get $75,000 — also for work through March 31.

Meanwhile, Comm. Goetz once again struck down a March 17 filing by Jon Eardley to present ‘on record’ the declaration of retired UCLA Law professor William McGovern. Eardley still claims he is working for Britney and that the current conservatorship is violating her civil rights.

After throwing the motion out, the judge said, "Judge Gutierez in the federal court, as well as this court several times, have made findings that show Eardley is not an attorney of record for Ms. Spears. There has been no finding that he represents her."

Everyone will be back in court on May 29 for the next conservatorship hearing.

Regarding Brit’s custody case, the singer is required to complete a 730 psych evaluation by May 6. She has repeatedly refused to turn in any form of evaluation in the past, so it will be interesting to see if she complies this time.

Also on May 6, Britney is expected to ask for overnight visits with her sons. However, if she once again refuses to complete a psych evaluation, Commissioner Gordon may not consider that request.

Brit’s Dad Is Selling Her Cars

March 17th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

After being ordered on Monday to pay more of Kevin Federline’s legal fees, the conservators for Britney Spears are wasting no time tightening her purse strings.

During Monday’s hearing, Commissioner Goetz authorized Jamie Spears and co-conservator, Andrew Wallet, to sell a few of brit’s cars. The exact makes and models were not available and it’s not clear how many of the singer’s cars will be sold.

But just for fun, let’s think: there’s the white Mini-Coup, the grey Audi, the black Mercedes, the white Mercedes and at least two leased black Escalades…

Co-conservator Andrew Wallet made the request today in court. Britney’s court appointed attorney, Sam Ingham, was also there. His response to the request: "I have no objection to that."

Meanwhile, the commish also signed off on an extension to the conservator’s restraining order against Sam Lutfi. The order remains in effect until April 16. As OK! reported yesterday, the request was granted swiftly and without a showdown because Sam reportedly agreed to having the order extended. Apparantly he thinks it’s best for both him and the Britster.

And, our reaction to that, as it was yesterday, is: UH-HUH!

Sam Agrees to Back Off Brit for Another 30 Days

March 16th, 2008

Sam Lutfi, the one-time confidante of Britney Spears, has agreed to have the restraining order against him… extended.

The order, which forbids Sam from coming within 2 1/2 football fields of the troubled pop star, and from basically having any contact with her, expires on Monday.

Brit’s conservators were ready for another showdown tomorrow to extend the order — but chances are that won’t happen, now that Sam is agreeing to their terms.

The commissioner will sign off on the extension at Monday’s hearing.

So why Sam’s sudden change of heart?

TMZ is reporting that there was a meeting between Lutfi and the conservators last week, and that during the meeting, something occurred that changed Sam’s mind about fighting any future extensions on the restraining order.

Lutfi reportedly believes the extension is a good thing, for both him and Brit.

Uh huh….
