She’s seen her father, Muhammad Ali, conquer opponents in the ring, and as a boxer herself, Laila Ali knows that confidence is crucial when preparing for a fight.
Her approach to tackling motherhood was no different. “If all these other women have
been able to do it, then so can I,” Laila tells OK!. “I have never been afraid that parenthood was going to be too much for me.”
Indeed, as a new mom to Curtis Muhammad Conway Jr., she’s now experiencing the happiest “challenge” of her life. On Aug. 26, Laila, 30, and her husband, retired NFL star Curtis Conway celebrated the arrival of their first child together.
That’s not to say it was easy.
The correspondent for The Early Show and former Dancing With the Stars contestant had been planning a home birth when complications forced her to deliver at a hospital instead. After 15 hours of labor, her healthy little champ arrived, weighing in at 6 pounds, 8 ounces.

“He’s brought a lot of joy to my life,” Laila says.

Daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali and boxing superstar in her own right, Laila Ali, has given birth to a son, Curtis Muhammad Conway, Jr., on Aug. 26, she announced on her official site today.
The TV personality and accomplished athlete says Curtis Jr. weighed in at 6.8 lbs and measured 19 inches long.
The healthy baby boy is named after his father, former NFL player, Curtis Conway and received his middle name, Muhammad, in honor of Laila’s father. Mother and son are resting and are healthy and happy.

Dancing With the Stars alum Laila Ali is being swept off her feet as she awaits the birth of her first child with hubby Curtis Conway. Laila, who is expecting a boy in September, says Curtis is making sure she stays relaxed, giving her foot massages!
"My husband’s exceptional!" she gushed. Of course the couple is still very much in the honeymoon stage–they’re about to celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary on July 22. And the 30-year old beauty, who makes an appearance on NBC’s Celebrity Family Feud in July, insists all the attention she gets from Curtis is no new thing.
"It’s not just when I’m pregnant," she smiles. "We both take care of each other, that’s just how it is."
