Aubrey O’Day to Become Godmother?

March 19th, 2009

Aubrey O’Day has likely met best friend Jenna Jameson’s twins, Jesse Jameson and Journey Jett, who were born Monday. (Dad is boyfriend Tito Ortiz, 34.)

After all, the former porn superstar, 34, first broke the news of her pregnancy to the ex-Danity Kane singer.

“I was the first person she wrote,” Aubrey, 25, says. “I still save the text messages. She was like ‘I just want you to know, my best friend, that I’m pregnant. Tito and I are expecting.’”

In fact, Aubrey’s hoping to be named godmother of the twins.

“Hell yeah!” she says. “I’m going to be the one who stands next to Jen and buys the babies everything.”

What makes Jenna a great friend to Aubrey?

Jenna’s a little bit older than me, and she’s been approached in similar ways I have,” she tells me. “Not to the same degree because we have different professions, but anytime you’re a person who is heavily scrutinized, which I am – that’s just a role that I got – I think it can be discouraging. You start to question yourself, and it becomes trying. She’s helped me breathe through all those emotions.”

Aubrey O’Day Wants To Adopt, Practice Law

March 3rd, 2009

Aubrey O’Day may be known for her salacious outfits and sexy poses, but there’s more than meets the eye to the former Danity Kane singer.

What’s her plan B?

“I was actually going to Columbia for law school, and I wanted to do international law,” the fun, friendly star, 25, tells me. “I wanted to save refugees. That’s what I probably would be doing. I come from a family of attorneys, so I’ve constantly been in a political mind state since childhood. If I weren’t doing that, as far as more fun careers, I always wanted to be a professional ice skater. Like, win the gold medal, or I’ve always wanted to be Miss America.”

Why Miss America?

“I always wanted to be in a place where I got to do art, and once I got there was able to affect as many people as possible. I spent my college years traveling around the world. I have two charities internationally, and I do a lot of really good things. But I would say I have a great voice and I’m very honest. I represent all kinds of women. I show that you can be extra sexy and also be extra smart.”

This California girl is a big advocate for believing the world is her oyster.

“Traveling around the world and being exposed to everything that I have has made me an interesting person,” she says. “Not in a cocky way, but I’m very proud of the woman I’ve struggled to become. I think if you believe it in life, the world is at your feet and you can do anything that you want to do.”

And Aubrey has a laundry list of things do accomplish. For instance, she’s ready for a big family. (She already pampers her little dog, Ginger.)

“I want to be a movie star, a solo artist, a television star, I want to be an amazing philanthropist and then I want to adopt a whole bunch of babies from a ton of different countries and have my own little rainbow tribe like Josephine Baker.”

Aubrey O’Day: Bisexual or Just confused?

January 6th, 2009

Aubrey O’Day likes to stir the pot–and now, with her recent suggestion that she might be bisexual, rumors are not only flying about the former Danity Kane singer’s sexuality, but that she also posed for an upcoming issue of Playboy Magazine.

"I think it’s funny that so many people care," O’Day said in an interview with MTV. "I mean, half the time, I don’t even know who I’m gonna love or what I’m gonna feel comfortable exposing myself to."

Rumors about her bisexuality began after Aubrey began hitting the clubs with girls on her arm. While she may thrive on attention, O’Day admits all the hype did make her a bit self-conscious.

"I think [the fact] that so many people are wondering along with me definitely puts pressure on my choices!" she said. "But one thing that I have to say about me that’s really always gonna be true, whether people like it or not, is I’m just gonna be me."

Aubrey continues, "I’ve never gone into an interview in my life and said that we can’t talk about something. "I’ve seen since I’ve been in this industry, probably most of the people that I’m around do that. I don’t wanna be that person. I don’t wanna be someone who can’t talk about who they are — the good and the bad. I just want to be real," she said. "I think we’re missing a lot of real people, and just the idea that you can be real and be comfortable with that. I think people are scared to be who they are. And if anybody’s gonna go out there and let everybody know, ‘Be who you are. I’m OK with it. No judgment here.’ I want it to be me."

Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce Do ‘Traitor’

August 27th, 2008

Don Cheadle gets his yuks at the Traitor premiere in NYC. He stars in the spy thriller in theaters now.

When asked if he has any well-wishes for his Ocean’s costar Matt Damon, who recently welcomed daughter Gia with wife Luciana, Don deadpans “They did?! Is it his? I don’t know.”

Alright, well, Guy Pearce, why should we see your movie?

“It’s an intelligent script that looks at a part of the world and a particular culture that has been shoved in the corner and limited in a way,” the Aussie actor tells me. “Hopefully it’s about broadening one’s perspective.”

Danity Kane’s Aubrey O’Day struts through wearing a barely-there white halter, skintight pants and boots. She’s the friendliest – I really like talking to her. She’s always good time. Where did she get her style inspiration for this potential wardrobe-malfunction-to-be?

“I definitely am a very fearless girl,” she tells me. “I think outside of the box, and I love to take risks. I don’t like wearing anything that anybody else would wear, so I would say my personality creates my outfits. I’m always the little white girl, and I wanted to be more urban and fun. I never wear my hair back, and I wanted to wear the gold hoops and be sassy. Today is my vixen outfit.”

Estelle confesses she’d like to spy on her business manager, and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star Jesse Williams tells me he wants to spy on his fiancée before he changes his mind.

“I’d like to spy on somebody in our government – someone in power you don’t have access to in real life aside from through a filtered source,” Jesse says. “Somebody in the new administration – somebody in the Obama administration, probably.” (Wow! Jesse is thinking positively about his presidential pick.)

Traitor is in theaters now.

D. Woods dishes on New Season!

August 19th, 2008

Making the Band 4 is back tonight.

Don’t expect a repeat of  Day 26 and Danity Kane shacking up together in a house. This season, the bands are taking their acts on the road.

Our lovely former OK! intern Katie Misata caught up with Danity Kane’s D. Woods to get the scoop on the new season.

Donnie Klang and Aubrey O’Day were at item last season. Are there going to be any hookups this time around?
None for me. I’m not really into the Day 26 boys like that. They’re like my brothers. We crack on each other and play pranks on each other, but no we’re not having any romantic hookups. I do like to talk junk back and fourth with Mike [McCluney] and Willie [Taylor], they are just a comedy team to me and we just go back and fourth all the time. Brian [Andrews] and I actually knew each other before Making the Band when we were in other groups and we ran in to each other a lot performing, so we have a special relationship. You saw how Robert [Curry] and I came to blows, but we’re friends now, and we have an understanding.

There was a rumor you and Dawn Richard got into a fight over Qwanell Mosley, a.k.a. Q, in Vegas?
There are so many! People were speculating that Dawn and I got in to a fight over Q backstage and I was like wow, I missed that one. It’s hilarious.

Are he and Dawn still seeing each other?

I guess they’re still seeing each other, but I’m not going to put out other people’s business like that! You’ll just have to wait and see.

This season, you took your act on the road.

I actually enjoyed filming this one the most because it wasn’t as much as just being in a house and being like a little science fair project where you’re just watched. We were actually able to do our own thing and really be in our element, which is to perform on stage and be on tour.

Must have been nice to get out of the house.
And getting to see the reaction from the fans, which is off the chain. I feel like the fans are a whole new cast member because we did a lot of meet and greets. We had sold out shows in every city and the energy that we felt while we were doing these shows is communicated in the right way. When you watch you’ll understand what we do on stage and what it takes for us to take it that step further and dance harder.

How long were you on the road?
About three weeks. It was really short. By the time it was over we were just getting warmed up!

What was your favorite location?
Each city has its own personality, but I really have to say it was the energy in New York, especially because that was our opening night. Usually you don’t want to have your opening night in New York because you want to get all the kinks out first. But it actually went really really well. The line was wrapped around the building to get in and the crowd was crazy.

What’s the hardest thing about being on the road?
We were juggling that tour and other Danity Kane commitments, so it was like a split personality. Usually you like to just be on the bus and get in that rhythm of city to city and venue to venue,  and you  get a little camaraderie with everyone on the tech crew and the other acts on the road with you, but we were kind of ripped out of that off-and-on.

Speaking of other projects, you have a new movie that you’re working on with choreographer Shane Sparks?
It’s called The Jump Off. I’ve seen Shane Sparks since he’s been on America’s Best Dance Crew critiquing the dancers. I’m nervous he’ll be hard on us on set. But I’m looking forward to that because I haven’t really been in my dancer head, so I think there’s going to be a lot of great energy.

Making the Band 4, season three, premieres Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 9 p.m. on MTV.

Stars Dish Out Beauty Tips

August 12th, 2008

Stars have access to the best in beauty, and are eager to share their tips for looking good.

“I always say natural’s the best way to go because when you go to a nice dinner and you darken your makeup up, they think ‘wow, that’s a difference’ rather than wearing the same thing every day and you just look normal every day,” Selena Gomez tells me.  “Natural’s always the best way to go.”

“Drink lots of water – that always helps – and I don’t really go out in the sun anymore, which is a good thing because I used to go out in the sun a lot ‘cause I’m from Florida,” Brittany Snow tells me. “My skin has changed drastically when I don’t. I’m kinda just trying to stay away. Bronzer. Bronzer’s my best friend.”

“If you want to look more awake, you can put white eyeliner in either side of your eye and it makes your eyes look like they pop,” Natasha Bedingfield says.

“I don’t take off my makeup, I eat fast food, I do everything bad,” Danity Kane’s Aubrey O’Day tells me. How does she get photo-ready? “My biggest thing about pictures is how you feel. The pictures where I don’t look as good, I’m not as happy, I think, so however you’re feeling inside as a person that day kind of comes out in photos.”

“Sleep!” Diane Kruger says.

“I wear a big smile,” Sara Bareilles tells me.

“Moisturize before you put your makeup on, always,” Emmy Rossum tells me. “It’ll make you extra-glowy in the summertime.”

Rihanna can’t get enough of Cover Girl makeup.

“I love their products, so I always use their products.”

Kelly Ripa tells me, “Hire a good makeup artist and hairstylist. That’s it. I mean, really. I’ve tried to do it myself and it never works out. I need experts. I need all the experts I can get.”

Bijou Phillips
has odd advice.

“Go in the sun and don’t wear sunblock,” she tells me. “It’s true. Sunblock changes the molecular structure of UVA and UVB rays and turns it into something else that isn’t real molecules so they sort of become free radicals. The second the sun hits your skin, the UVA and UVB molecules turn into foreign molecules that our bodies don’t really know how to identify. So your face is covered in free radicals, which I think is the main reason people get skin cancer.”

Oh really?

“Yeah because it’s changing the molecular structure of these molecules and cancer is a large amount of free radicals. You’re putting this thing on to not get cancer but you’re actually putting the most horrible thing you can on your face, which is free radicals that your body doesn’t know how to identify. I think it’s increasing the chances of skin cancer. But there are natural sunblocks you can get, but if you get a good base tan and you don’t burn, you’re pretty much OK. Just wear hats and sunglasses. You don’t need to cover yourself in 45. It’s bad for you.”

Ashanti swears by her own OPC-3 Beauty Blend.

“It’s a powdered vitamin,” she tells me. “It’s really good for skin and nails and internally for your immune system. With me traveling so much and going in and out of airports, there’s a lot of germs. It helps build up your immune system and gives energy.”

“Water,” Kim Raver says. “No, I’m joking, but there is some truth to that. I find that if I don’t drink enough water, it definitely shows in your skin. But then I would say mascara, eyelash curler, and Clarins makes this easy facial soap at night, which is the best thing ever.”

Aubrey O’Day: “I Love to Stand Out”

July 15th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

If you think Aubrey O’Day has a bad rap, think again.  The  singer is proud of her reputation as the bad girl of music group Danity Kane and even has a single featuring Missy Elliot called "Bad Girl" coming out soon.

So when OK! caught up with O’Day at the Vitamin Water Homers in the Hudson Event, she was happy to set the record straight.

"I don’t know, I think every woman has every side of them you know?" O’Day told OK!.   "I think every girl in our group is the bad girl and the nice girl and funny."

Aubrey has a busy summer ahead of her, to say the least.  She is starring in Hairspray on Broadway as Amber, and is releasing a clothing line called Heart on My Sleeve Shop.com.

"I’m sure there will be a tour or something coming up for Danity Kane," she adds in  at the last minute.

When asked about her unique sense of style, O’Day agrees  wholeheartedly.

"I love to stand out, I love to be the center of attention," she says.  "I love to steal all the attention in the room and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.  I think it’s a fabulous thing to be if you’re comfortable, so I look for clothes to do that."

She adds, "I just look for anything that’s bright, that stands out. I’m fun, I take chances, I think outside the box.  I don’t like to have anything regular or anything everyone else does, so you’ll never see me in anything like that."

Gifting Miley Cyrus

May 23rd, 2008

Miley Cyrus sweeps into the Izod Fragrance Artist Gift Lounge backstage at Z100’s Zootopia wearing a huge smile on her face, a Topshop dress and a jacket so expensive she would never buy it herself.

Shocking? Nah. The Hannah Montana star, 15, is a penny-pincher. “She had a Blackberry but she lost it, and she’s too cheap to get another one,” I hear. Luckily, she receives a Blackberry Pearl in her stash of goodies.

Miley
curls up on the couch to chat with Z100 before taking inventory of her new accessories. She raids the stainless steel jewelry line from Black and Blue taking one of everything. She’s eager to schedule her new Roomba to vacuum her room while she’s away on tour. And, during a round of The Box Girls Box of Questions Conversation Starter Games, she says, “I’d sit in my boxer shorts and play video games all day if I was a boy.”

Well, if she was a boy she might be just like half-brother Trace Cyrus, who is in the electro-pop band Metro Station. Miley joins him onstage during the pre-show, and the crowd goes wild.

“She was chilling,” he tells me. “She was sitting there watching it.”

One thing Trace has that Miley doesn’t is a body filled with tattoos. His favorite? “This one right here,” he tells me, flexing his arm. It says ‘This time here will never last.’ It’s lyrics to one of my dad’s [Billy Ray Cyrus] songs.”

Lunchtime! I grab a meal ticket and scope out the catering section, where I bump into New Kids On The Block. I’m enjoying my roast beef sandwich, French fries, potato salad and sugar cookie when the guys roll through. “It’s too crowded in here,” Donnie Wahlberg laments. “Let’s eat in the dressing room.” (Bummer!)

The guys roll into the gift lounge. The highlight is the Roomba. Danny Wood, who is a single dad, is excited to get housework help from the gadget. And Jordan Knight says the device will free up the time his wife would spend vacuuming. Joey McIntyre walks up and announces “We are in the future.”

Here’s Gavin DeGraw. I’ll never forget the first thing he said to me years ago when we met in a club: “Are you married?” And then, he had the hit single I Don’t Want To Be. I have the worst luck with this. Anyone whose advances I’ve dismissed always hits the big time. (Hello, Bill Rancic.) Gavin’s still got it. “Hi gorgeous,” he says. Hm, is he dating anyone now? “I’m too busy right now to fail at a relationship.” I see…

Another fun guy is Simple Plan’s Chuck Comeau. He’s up there – he cracks me up, and his Quebecois accent makes me smile. I once interviewed Simple Plan on a bed at The Time Hotel in NYC. (Not my idea – theirs.) He remembers. What’s his status? “Single and open for business,” he tells me. I was also there when he asked Kelly Clarkson out a few years ago at a Z100 event. “Nothing ever happened with that. I thought I had an ‘in’ – I thought I was in, but it’s OK. I’ve moved on. I’m stalking other people now like Megan Fox. She’s so hot … she has an amazing talent at acting. She’s absolutely gorgeous.” (Ooh, he’ll have to fight Jesse McCartney.)

Whoa! Love Song singer Sara Bareilles is getting lavished with praise by each member of Danity Kane. Sara is loving the adoration – she’s on top of the world.

Does Sara ever get tired of performing her megahit?

“I have my moments of not being so excited about it, but overall it’s so very fun,” she tells me. “It’s at the point now where people are knowing the words and singing along. That’s very rewarding.”

Danity Kane’s Aubrey O’Day admits she loves to buy handbags. “I’m disgusting about purses,” she tells me. “There’s a purple Prada bag that I really want right now. I just feel like a couple more shows and I’ll feel like I deserve it.”

Here come the Jonas Brothers! Shhh …
