Lil’ Kim: DWTS “#1 Show in Prison”
February 27th, 2009
The latest competitor to take on Dancing with the Stars, rapper Lil’ Kim, says she’s thrilled to be part of the show.
"I’m a huge fan!" she tells The Insider. "When I was in prison, me and my girls used to watch it. My girls were like, ‘Kim, you need to be on that show.’ In prison you have to all agree what shows you watch. If we can’t agree, it doesn’t get watched. Everyone watched it faithfully. It’s like the #1 show in prison!"
Kim’s partner this season is Derek Hough, who says he was initially nervous to meet her, "but she’s so soft-spoken and nice," he says. "We gelled immediately."
Of Derek, Kim says, "I was hoping and praying that I got Derek for my partner!"
In the meantime, the pair is busy rehearsing their dance moves for their first performance on the season opener of DWTS.
Check out the entire interview when it airs on March 2.
Warren Sapp Says #2 Ain’t Bad
December 8th, 2008
‘Tis the season to be jolly? Just a few weeks after the Dancing with the Stars finale, runner-up Warren Sapp tells OK! that he is alright with the his second place finish.
“It was unbelievable,” Warren told OK! recently of his DWTS experience at the Baskin Robbins Wrapped with a Bow event in L.A. “But the reaction after the show has been even more unbelievable, because people tell me I got robbed. They say, ‘You should have won. I was voting for you!’ You get all the support and the love and it’s just absolutely been wonderful.”
While rumors swirled that Warren and DWTS rival Derek Hough got into a fight towards the end of competition, the former NFL star says that is all in the past.
“Have you talked to Derek?” he asks. “You might want to ask him about that because it wasn’t nothing. Absolutely nothing.”
Regardless of how it ended, Warren and his dancing partner Kym Johnson are still good friends. “I talked to Kym the other night.” He says. “She’s like ‘I’m in L.A. rehearsing,’ so I’m going to go check her out tomorrow when I get off the job.”
When he’s not dancing, Sapp can be seen on Inside the NFL on Showtime Wednesday nights and the NFL Network on Sundays. In his off time, he’s also wrapping presents for the Jayneoni Moore’s Children Fund alongside stars like Melissa Joan Hart and Ali Landry at Giggles ‘n Hugs in L.A.
“It’s always a good time when you can come out and lend a helping hand, especially this time of year when it’s tough right now,” he says. “It’s tough to have that merry, merry Christmas and these gifts are going to go to kids that really need them.”

DWTS Stars Defend Rivals After Fight
December 2nd, 2008
It was a ballroom blitz during the Dancing With the Stars finale on Nov. 25!
After TMZ.com alleged the runner-up, football star Warren Sapp threw first-place dancer Derek Hough — who took the trophy with Brooke Burke — against a wall, their co-stars have come forward to defend them.
The video site claimed that Warren got mad at Derek for showing up late to rehearse the group dance, then complaining that he was having trouble following the routine, although Derek later said that it was more of a war of words than a real fight.
Comedian Jeffrey Ross told OK!, “I happened to be at that rehearsal. They got into a little thing, but it’s about the intensity of the moment.”
Another DWTS dancer, Mark Ballas, agreed. “When you’re working together, sometimes people get heated.
"Sometimes you just talk to each other out of frustration. But both of them are cool now.”
‘Dancing’ Stars Rally Behind Cloris Leachman
November 18th, 2008
Cloris Leachman may have wowed audiences and fans with her wise-cracking remarks and quirky moves on Dancing with the Stars, but she also proved she’s won the love of her fellow dancers.
Following her hospitalization and treatment for symptoms of pneumonia, Leachman’s fellow DWTS castmates are rallying behind the 82-year-old Oscar winner, making sure she gets the rest she needs.
"I spoke to Cloris today…She sounded okay," Derek Hough told Extra. "She’s in good spirits and I just hope my girl gets better. I love her."
Lance Bass and partner Lacey Schwimmer, who sailed to the top of the leader board during last night’s competition, also had warm wishes for Leachman.
"Cloris, I got you some chicken noodle soup with your name on it! I’ll bring it over!" Lance said. Lacey laughed, saying, "Knowing Cloris, she’s going to be back with rhinestones next week. You watch." Bass adds, "Kicking back whiskey. She’s fine!"
Leachman sought medical attention late last week reportedly due to pneumonia. On Monday, her rep confirmed the Oscar winner had sought treatment for a "bad cold" and was home recovering well.
Brooke Burke Sizes Up Her Competition
November 18th, 2008
It’s getting down to the wire on Dancing With the Stars, and stand-out competitor Brooke Burke is definitely feeling the heat, especially after earning a perfect score.
"I just feel the pressure of, like, the two dances in the end and now the mirror ball trophy’s in sight," she told OK! on Friday at an exclusive Jonas Brothers concert to launch American Eagle’s 77Kids line at the Roxy in L.A.
"In the beginning it was all about having fun! You know what I mean?" she adds. "It’s so much pressure, but Derek [Hough] and I are, like, we gotta have fun, we gotta chill out, we gotta keep doing what we’re doing but maybe it’s because we’re so close. It has to be amazing now, whereas before there was room for error."
So who does Brooke see as her biggest competition?
"Well in the beginning I thought it was Warren [Sapp]," she admits. "Now I kind of think it’s Lance [Bass] and Lacey [Schwimmer] only because they’ve kind of broken the rules and they’ve been underdogs."
The reality star also thinkgs that Cody Linley, whose partner Julianne Hough just came back after having surgery, could "get the sympathy vote," especially with their devoted fan base.
"Cody’s pretty adorable! He cried last week," she says. "He’s young and sweet and crazy!"
Keep your eye on the prize, Brooke!
Cloris’ Pick For DWTS Winner
November 4th, 2008
It’s time to start placing your bets for the winner of season seven of Dancing With The Stars — and Cloris Leachman who no doubt who her money’s on.
Brooke Burke will two-step to the top, predicts the show’s most controversial contestant.
“I always thought it would be Brooke,” the twinkle-toed octogenarian tells OK!. “Derek [Hough]’s an incredible dancer and she’s excellent.
"The judges give them extremely high marks.” But they face tough competition from Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson.
“They could win,” says Cloris, 82, who was eliminated with partner Corky Ballas on Oct. 28.
“Warren just tiptoes through it. He’s a wonderful spirit.”
