Who knew that a nudity scandal and a lip-syncing debacle could end happily?
Pete Wentz admits that when cell phone pictures of his nether regions hit the Internet, now-wife Ashlee Simpson knew just how to help. "Penisgate," Pete’s phrase for the incident, helped get the couple together – Ashlee had just been through a whirlwind of publicity for lip-syncing on Saturday Night Live and could relate.
"She just called me up and made me feel a lot better," he tells Details in the December issue.
Beyond any genitalia love story, Pete’s feelings for his wife run a lot deeper than any tabloid buzz.
"I’ve had a thing for that girl for a really, really long time," he admits.
And now that love has expanded to welcome new son Bronx Mowgli Wentz, a baby whose arrival was announced to Pete via a snapshot of a pregnancy test while he was on tour, waiting to play a show in Antarctica.
"I was like, ‘Oh my God, this might be the worst possible time to have this conversation,’" he says. "I was definitely scared, just thinking, ‘This is something that’s going to exist for the rest of your life and you can’t f–k it up. ‘ "
Although the pregnancy was unplanned, Pete has no regrets about his little bundle of joy.
"It was a happy accident," he says. "But I think that certain things happen for a reason in your life, and maybe it was time to put the wild child in a cage."
Tom Cruise is One Powerful Dude

Tom Cruise has been doing the dad thing a lot these days, but don’t let his proud papa demeanor trick you – the original Maverick is still a powerful force on the scene.
The Valkyrie star graces the cover of the new Details, and is top-ranked celebrity — and #7 ovreall — on their Power 40 list of men who have the ability to effect change in the country right now. Others on the list include #1 dude Barack Obama, the fellas at the U.S. Secret Service, John Mayer, Sarah Palin’s boys and more.
In his new movie, Tom plays a German military officer who stages an attempt to murder Hitler, a role that garnered some less than positive reviews from the Deutschland critics.
"That was always just a small group," he says of the German naysayers. "When there was finally dialogue between us and they realized what it was we were doing with the story, they relented. This was a hard movie to make on many levels—but that was just one challenge."
This isn’t the first challenge Tom’s faced in his long career, however.
"There’s always someone telling you not to make a movie," he says. "When I did Born on the Fourth of July, they said, ‘This is going to ruin your career. What are you doing?’ Suicide? I’ve committed it. There were people who didn’t want me to make Top Gun."

Report: Sarah Wynter & Hubby Expecting

According to a report in the New York Post, Australian actress Sarah Wynter, best known here for her two seasons opposite Keifer Sutherland on Fox smash spy hit 24, and her hubby, magazine magnate Dan Peres, are going to ring in 2008 with their first child.
While this wonderul news has yet to be confirmed by either party involved, OK! sends its congratulations to the 34-year-old blonde beauty, who married Peres in in August 2005.
New Details on Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt sat down with Details magazine and candidly talked about his kids, Angelina Jolie and his private life. He said he had to adjust to having so many kids, but now that he has he assures the magazine: “We’re not done."
He got in depth on his feelings on the paparazzi invading his personal space and the prospect of them getting near his kids. He said, "It’s not going to keep our kids caged in. the only thing that frighten me today is something happening to my kids, or something happening to Angie, or something happening to Angie and I. That happens when they follow you, right. It is the defining annoyance of my life. “
“I don’t want them to be tensing up, and I don’t want them to see or feel any kind of threat,” he continued, “But man, when [photographers] cross the line, you know-if it happened to one of your kids, it’s hard not to want to take them down."And even though Angelina and Brad seem like the most glamourous couple to hit Hollywood’s red carpet, Brad admits he likes to be more low key. He said, “"Without question, relaxing in bed and watching a movie is one of my favorite things to do. I’ve settled down in many ways-when we get invitations to this club or this party, I pick and choose. The best times are quiet times at home."
