Dexter Co-Stars Elope!

January 9th, 2009

They play brother and sister on Showtime’s Dexter, and barely anyone even knew they were dating, but now Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are playing husband and wife.

The co-stars eloped on New Year’s Eve, according to Michael’s spokesman, Craig Bankey. Apparently the twosome have been a couple for some time now, secretly dating for a year and a half.

And now the newlyweds are set to debut their relationship in a big way – by walking the red carpet together at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.

Way to start out the New Year off right!

Dexter: Season Finale Secrets!

December 12th, 2008

OMG! Is Dexter actually wrapping up its third season this weekend?

The time went by so quickly, with Dexter pretty much throwing his serial killing code out the window, getting girlfriend Rita preggers and making new friends he feels comfortable enough to kill with!

I can barely hold my breath for the finale on Sunday, so I called up series star Lauren Velez, who plays Lt. Maria LaGuerta, to get a little scoop on what to expect in the explosive season ender. (I’m still recovering for the finale epi of season two!)

She also gave me a peek inside Maria’s head when it comes to men (yeah, it’s never pretty!).

Dexter has really tossed the rules out the window this season, so to speak.

Well, he and Rita are getting married. She’s hormonal and pregnant and he’s dealing with his dual life even more so now. But Dexter will come to his senses with his code as he commits to having his life with Rita.

How does Maria feel about her failed relationship with D.A. Miguel Prado?
They were involved at the police academy, but Maria is ambitious by nature and wanted something different. They parted ways, and she’s regretted it. She’s been revisiting her past, and it came up again for a quick minute.

Is Maria still grieving over Sgt. James Doakes death?

He was more than her love interest. With Doakes, he was the only person who absolutely understood her and saw her warts.  He was the epitome of being the best friend she could have ever had. They knew each other’s secrets. Maria isn’t somebody who makes friends easily. Because she lost him, she tried to make friends with defense attorney Ellen Wolfe, who is now gone too. With new people, Maria comes out fighting. She came to the U.S. by herself on a boat as a child and had to create, on her own, a completely new life for herself. That fighting quality is also her downfall.

What would Maria do if she learned that Dexter was the real killer?

I think she would take him down.

What would you like to see happen in season four?
I think the theme for next season season should be women on top!

Catch Dexter,  season fnale, Sunday, Dec. 14 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.

Dexter’s Salsa Kills!

October 28th, 2008

Emmy nominee and star of  Dexter, Michael C. Hall, 37, won’t be butchering his Salsa dancing anymore! Michael and his co-star girlfriend Jennifer Carpenter, 28, recently spotted new castmate Jimmy Smits on the dance floor at Monsoon Cafe in Santa Monica and an insider tells OK!, "They were so impressed, they asked him for private lessons and he agreed!"

Who knew Jimmy could shimmy?

In the meantime, it looks like Dexter will continue his killing spree for two more seasons. The Showtime series has been picked up for a fourth and fifth season totalling 12 episodes each. Showtime describes Michael’s character as "an incredibly likeable forensics expert for the Miami Metro Police Dept., who moonlights as a serial killer with a penchant for inflicting his own brand of justice – he kills people who truly deserve it."

Perhaps the writers can work a little Salsa action into the upcoming seasons!

DVR This: CSI

October 15th, 2008

If you loved the character Yola from the Showtime sitcom The Chris Isaak Show, then you’ll definitely want to tune in to CSI tomorrow night.

Kristin Dattilo, who played Yola from 2001 to 2004, is guesting and my L.A. counterpart, OK!’s Carole Glines, got the scoop!

“It’s quite a departure from all the comedic roles I’ve been doing,” Kristin says.  “I play a drug and gambling addict.  She dies three quarters of the way through the episode and it’s finding the killer in flashbacks."

She got to work with the show’s leading man, William Petersen. “We had two different scenes and I was dead in both. I kept thinking just don’t breathe, because dead people don’t breathe," she laughs.

"On one of his close-ups, I said , ‘I’m going to sit up and say boo during this take’ and he’s like, ‘please, don’t.’ We made jokes about that."

There must be some deja’vu casting going on in Kristin’s life.  She’s got a recurring role on Showtime’s killer series, Dexter.

She plays Det. Barbara Gianna, a vice cop who gets Angel mixed up in her sting. Why can’t he meet a nice, normal gal?

Catch Kristin on CSI Thursday, Oct. 16 at 10 p.m. on CBS. And look for her on Dexter Sundays at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
