It looks like the rumor is true: Drew Barrymore really is being considered to direct the third Twilight film, Eclipse.
The 34-year-old Charlie’s Angels star confirmed the news in a recent interview, saying, "I’m one of the directors that is being talked about, which is great, because I’m a director now. But you know, they’ll make their choice."
This would not be Drew’s directorial debut if she were to be picked. She directed Whip It, starring Juno’s Ellen Page, which is slated for release this year.
News that the actress was being considered to helm the third installment of the teen vampire films broke last month. The first film, Twilight, released last year, was a box office hit, based on the extremely successul books by Stephenie Meyer.
Eclipse is slated for a summer 2010 release. The second film, New Moon, hits theaters this November.

At the Z100 Jingle Ball Official H&M Artist Gift Lounge at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on Dec. 12, Twilight’s Peter Facinelli talked to OK! exclusively about the film’s sequel, New Moon, and the studio’s decision to go with a new director this time around.
"You know, I was bummed a little because I love Catherine [Hardwicke], but I always knew she wasn’t signed up for the second and third [movie]," Facinelli, who’s married to 90210’s Jennie Garth and plays Cullen family patriarch, Carlisle, tells OK!. "She never really knew if she was going to do the second one. It wasn’t like she was signed on to do all of them and then it stopped."
Summit Entertainment announced it had hired Golden Compass director Chris Weitz to direct the second installment of author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series. It’s not unusual–Each of the Harry Potter films have had a different director. Facinelli says he’s confident the studio knows what it’s doing.
"I would have loved to work with her [Hardwicke] again, I hope I get to work with her again. But I’m more than confident that they’ll pick somebody that will keep that tone. It will be great."
He adds, "I’m just excited we’re doing another movie and hopefully that will lead to a third."
