Jennifer Hudson is speaking up weeks after her mother, brother and nephew were killed in Chicago on Oct 24, posting a statement on her MySpace page to express her gratitude to fans.
"I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time," the Dreamgirls actress writes.
"My sister and I take great comfort and strength from your love and concern."
The Oscar winner bade a final good-bye to her slain family members, mother Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and nephew Julian King last week at a Chicago funeral service.
William Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer’s sister, Julia, remains in police custody for his alleged connection with the murders, although he has yet to be formally charged.

No sophomore jinx for Jennifer Hudson! The Dreamgirls star has another hit with Sex and the City the Movie. And after scoring a free getaway from the Palmer Hospitality Group at the June 1 MTV Awards, she can finally unwind.
A backstage insider tells OK!, "She was saying how excited she was to relax and how gorgeous Costa Rica looked."
Whenever she goes, Jennifer definitely wants boyfriend James Payton,27, by her side. "He believes in me," Hudson,26, tells OK!. "He loves my gift, which is singing. If you love my music, you love me."

Working alongside famously petite style icon Sarah Jessica Parker and the rest of the super-svelte cast of the upcoming Sex and the City film would be enough to make most any woman self-conscious about her figure — but not Jennifer Hudson!
“I have the height of a model, the breasts that people pay for and the lips that everybody wants, so why should I change?” the 26-year-old Oscar-winner asked at the Oct. 30 Avon Foundation Gala in NYC. “I wouldn’t change myself for anything or anybody. That will never happen.”
So how is life on the set for the new girl? “I’m loving it,” the Dreamgirls star says. “I’m learning a lot. I feel like I’m at the head of the class in school.”
Oh yeah — and then there’s the show’s infamous wardrobe.“It’s amazing!” yelps Jennifer. “The first day I went to my fitting, and I was like, ‘Wow, you picked that for me?’ ”

As work finally begins on the big-screen follow-up to the long-running HBO hit Sex & the City, OK! has learned that the show’s four leading ladies will have some company in the form of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.
According to reports, Hudson, who took home the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award (and just about every other trophy known to man) last year for her performance opposite Beyonce in Dreamgirls, has been cast as an assistant to SATC’s main minx Carrie Bradshaw, played once again by Sarah Jessica Parker.
All this is great news for fans of SATC, who have waited for years to see the show’s four heroines, played by Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, strut their stuff around the Big Apple one last time.
