Carrie: I Haven’t Talked to Tony Since May

November 3rd, 2008

Before she gets into anything else, Carrie Underwood first wants to make one thing clear: She’s not dating Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps.

"I swear on everything, on my job, on my house, my dog. That’s how serious I am," she tells the new issue of Elle Magazine. "It’s all just a lie. Anytime any [media source] ever says ‘a friend said,’–no, they didn’t! It’s just made up. None of my friends would say anything. Ever. About anything!"

Carrie has no qualms about speaking her mind. Earlier this year, she infamously revealed that ex-boyfriend Tony Romo still calls her, (Tony now dates Jessica Simpson), the result of which sparked a war of words between the two blondes, played out mercilessly in the press.

Now, Underwood says she understands where all the hoopla came from.

"It was just something that was said in passing, and I would never mean to say anything to hurt anybody or to stir up anything," she says in retrospect. "Because I’m just not about the drama. At all. I might be mad too if somebody said my boyfriend was calling some other girl. So I can definitely see where she [Simpson] would be coming from. But I haven’t talked to him since, like, May."

As for her own love life Carrie says, "If I say I am or I’m not, as soon as this magazine comes out, it might be the opposite of what I tell you now. In three months, it’ll be ‘Carrie said she’s not dating anybody,’ yet last night, I was out on the town with some guy. He’s going to get mad at me. Everybody’s going to think I’m a liar. It’s just best not to go there."

She adds, "I don’t know how people do it. It’s tiring. It’s hard. Right now I do a lot because I have no reason not to. I don’t have a husband or kids. If I go home, I’m home by myself. I have no reason not to be on the road, no reason not to just get out there and do everything right now, while I’m young enough to, while I can enjoy it. But I think when I get a little older, I definitely want to slow down, just because it’s very stressful. It’s hard on your body, hard on your mind, hard on your emotions."

"I knew what I was signing up for, and I’m not complaining at all," she continues. "I’ve learned how to deal with it, and my life is great, I’m a happy person. What are you going to do? Give it all up? No!"

Jennifer Lopez’s Baby Glow!

September 3rd, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

It’s no wonder Jennifer Lopez is known as one of the hardest working women in show business: the triple-threat diva kept on strutting her stuff on tour, rocking out in high fashion designs, months into her unannounced pregnancy, when most women would’ve called it quits.

But the road to pregnancy wasn’t easy, Jennifer reveals in the fashion-packed September issue of Elle magazine.

“We knew nothing was wrong with either one of us—I had been checked, and he had kids already," Jennifer tells Elle of her and husband Marc Anthony’s struggle to conceive. "I knew Something’s not ready here, in my head or in my life, and when it is, I know it’s going to happen.”

When it did happen, she says she says her babies let her know.

“I was sitting down doing hair and makeup and I felt a flutter," Jennifer says. "The weirdest little… flourish. My makeup artist said ‘What’s the matter?’ I didn’t say anything, but in my head, I was like, I have life inside me!”

The life inside her was fraternal twins Emme and Max, born in February. A scant two weeks later, the new family appeared in a photo shoot together.

“I was like, How am I going to rock this moment of my life?…" she says of the book of photos. "I felt very womanly. Marc was in a dream. He loved it.”

Check out the rest of Jennifer’s interview, as well as photos of the stunnging songstress with her favorite designers, in the new issue of Elle.

Jessica Simpson Abused by Ex?

August 6th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

The journey from reality TV pop star to country singer hasn’t been easy for Jessica Simpson, 28, and one new song on her upcoming album chronicles that pain.

"Remember That," a song about a past emotionally abusive relationship, seems to have come out of nowhere, but a source claims that Jess is singing about ex-husband Nick Lachey.

"Towards the end of the marriage, things got really ugly," a friend of the couple confirms.

When she’s not singing, however, Jessica’s lips are zipped. "I don’t want to talk about it," she tells the September issue of Elle magazine. "But I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run."

As for some industry insiders, they’re taking their ears and running already. "This isn’t even relevant. Nick and Jessica broke up three years ago. No one cares that much about either of them anymore," a source tells OK!.

Mariah Carey Unfiltered

July 8th, 2008

Maria Carey is still in her honeymoon phase. Married since April to 27-year old rapper Nick Cannon, the singer is clearly enjoying the prime of her life — not to mention her career.

“Most people would think, ‘Okay, please! This doesn’t happen in real life!’” she tells the August issue of Elle Magazine. “When I was in an unhappy place in my life, I always wanted to be kidnapped. I just wanted a way out, but I didn’t have one.”

Carey is talking of her past, which suffice to say is glittering with more good than bad. But the few bad times she suffered were pretty big, splayed out in the media for the world to see.

Her marriage to music mogul Tommy Mottola at 23 was an elaborate affair that began with a $10 million mansion in Bedford CT, and ended in an unhappy divorce. Then there was her controversial public breakdown in 2001 that ended with the singer checking herself into a hospital for "extreme exhaustion."

Ten years after her split from Mottola, Carey met current husband Nick, who she says literally came to her rescue.

“He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride," she says. "Then he re-proposed.”

Cannon’s first proposal took place on Carey’s roof in Manhattan a couple of evenings prior and involved the hiding of a 17-carat diamond ring inside a candy ring pop.

“They’ve been calling me Cinderella since I first started out, so, of course, being Cinderella…” she laughs, adding, "“We really kept the whole relationship aspect of it quiet,” Carey says. “Therefore, we didn’t really ‘date,’ you know what I mean? Because that would have been not quiet or private. I think we didn’t want to give people a chance to be like, ‘What are you doing? What are you talking about? This is so quick…are you sure?’”

The couple clandestinely both got their first tattoos before tying the knot — hers is a butterfly on the small of her back with “Mrs. Cannon” written down the center; his, a shoulder-spanning rendering of her name — to signify their love.

Talent and fame often come with a price, but for someone who has been a tabloid target for so long, Carey displays an admirable ability to not take herself too seriously—as witnessed in the video for her record-breaking single “Touch My Body,” in which a tech support dork from “Compu Nerd” (played by 30 Rock’s hilariously geeky Jack McBrayer) comes to her mansion to fix her computer and lives out his fantasy with Mariah.

To get ready to promote her album, Mariah enlisted the talent of her French trainer, Patricia whose favorite word during workouts is, naturally, encore.

“She’s about the size of my arm — that’s her body,” Carey tells Elle, “But it’s all muscle. It’s not like she’s emaciated. She’s happy with me. She lets me eat meals now."

Elle Pulls Owen Interview

August 30th, 2007

Elle Magazine decided to pull an Owen Wilson interview, which was going to run in the December Hollywood issue. The magazine made the decision to do that after reports of Owen’s apparent suicide attempt surfaced. In a statement editor-in-chief Roberta Myers said: "Obviously the circumstances have changed significantly. When we were to be on the newsstand with the story, it would have been quite dated. Obviously, he’s not going to update it for us. Out of respect for his privacy and anything he is going through, we’re not going to run the piece."
