Amy Poehler Likens Self to Santa Claus

March 9th, 2009

Many women might complain about being pregnant and gaining weight, but not endlessly funny Amy Poehler, who gave birth to a son with fellow comedian Will Arnett, Archie, late last year.

"It’s really nice. You make people happy," she tells Elle about the experience. "There’s a reason why Santa Claus and Buddha both have big bellies. But as soon as you have your baby, nobody cares about you anymore. They just want to make sure you don’t sit next to them on the plane."

While we doubt anyone would complain about sitting next to Amy, fans did complain when she left Saturday Night Live recently after huge success entertaining audiences for years.

"It felt like the right time. My contract was ending. From coming up in improv, I know when to edit. And I think it was time to edit. When everyone’s laughing, that’s usually when I like to take my exit," she explains of her departure from the show.

Fans won’t be Amy-less for long, however – her new show Parks and Recreation hits the air on NBC this month, and it’s sure to be a hit. So how has she been preparing for a role as the leader of a small town’s local government?

"I have been pushing a rock up a hill and watching as it slowly rolls back down," she jokes.

Zac Efron’s “Being Sexual”

March 6th, 2009

Zac Efron might play a squeaky clean teen in the High School Musical movies, but this 21-year-old heartthrob is definitely a grown-up, even if his mom just figured that out.

After a picture of him and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens seemed to show them in a sex-toy shop, his mom had a surprising reaction.

“My mom is like, ’Zac, what did you buy in a sex shop?’ " he tells Elle magazine." ‘I was like, ‘Mom, calm down, it’s not a sex shop.’ She wouldn’t have any of it."

Instead of lamenting her son’s lost childhood, Zac says his mother was surprisingly supportive.

"She’s like, ‘I knew you were being sexual!’ But she understood. My stocking was full of condoms this Christmas. She buys me the economy box.”

Although he might be an adult, Zac still looks up to his elders, including mega famous actor Leonardo DiCaprio, whom he sat next to at a Lakers game recently.

“We talked the whole game, and he was just everything I thought he would be: smart, levelheaded, charming, hilarious," he reveals. "You know, the older-brother vibe. That sounds so cheesy.”

You say cheesy, Zac, we say adorable.

Reese Thinks Jake is “Fabulous”

March 4th, 2009

As if there’s any doubt that Jake Gyllenhaal is less than perfect in some way, Reese Witherspoon is her boyfriend’s No. 1 fan.

"He’s fabulous," she reveals in a new interview with Elle magazine. He really is a fantastic guy."

While she won’t say much more, the usually tight-lipped mother of two does open up a bit about her divorce from ex Ryan Phillippe in a characteristically non-Reese way.

"Very humiliating and very isolating," she says of the split. "But, by the way, if it’s not painful, maybe it wasn’t the right decision to marry to begin with. Those are the appropriate emotions.

"You see a lot of people play this blame game," she adds. "Blame, blame, blame. You know? And it’s a really easy thing to do, and I’m certainly guilty of it. [You have to] look at yourself and go, ‘What part of this do I need to own? Which part of this is my responsibility? And that’s the painful work that you have to go through to hopefully get some real life knowledge out of it.”

And although her divorce and subsequent relationship with Jake have put Reese in the uncomfortable position of being in the spotlight non-stop, she seems to have a realistic grip on her fame.

“Fascination is gonna die off. I honestly know it. But it’s just like I keep waiting and waiting, and then it’s just more tabloid magazines, and it keeps going," she admits. "I don’t take a shower everyday. I don’t put on makeup everyday. I wear a lot of sunglasses, in case you noticed.”

We hadn’t, but now we’ll be on the lookout for sure!

Jen’s Moved On… Really!

March 2nd, 2009

When it comes to setting the record straight on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and how their relationship has affected her, Jennifer Aniston is just not that into opening up about it, okay?

‘No matter what I say, things will always be taken out of context and misinterpreted, will always be turned around to make it seem as though I won’t let something go, or that I just keep talking about it over and over," she tells Elle UK in the April issue. "I don’t owe anybody anything. I don’t owe anybody my side of the story."

<a href="http://www.okmagazine.com/pixandvids/gallery/9410/" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3379/3182836637_f69d108eed_o.jpg" width="426" height="70" alt="aniston" /></a>

In fact, Jen doesn’t even see the situation as a battle to be fought or won, claiming, "There are no sides! There is no bad guy and there is no good guy. There are no villains and there is no heroine in this story. It’s just not the case."

The star, who seems to be happily dating John Mayer again after their brief split last year, insists that she’s not to be pitied in any way.

" I remind myself every day that I am lucky. Look what’s out there. Look what people are really living through. There’s no comparison. I am happy," she says in the interview.

As for getting older, the He’s Just Not That Into You actress, who just turned 40, has a sensible approach to the coming years.

"I’m a realist," she admits. "I know that if I eat nothing but burgers and chips, I’m not going to be hired for the parts I normally would. That might be fine one day, but not right now."

Jessica Alba Cried While Getting Into Shape

February 4th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

It’s easy to envy beautiful stars for their astounding paychecks and amazing figures, so once in a while it’s refreshing to know not everything in life comes easily: Jessica Alba, who’s featured on the cover of the new issue of Elle, admits that regaining her pre-baby figure so quickly after having Honor was not a fun experience.

"I did it for the Campari job," she confesses in the interview. "[The workouts] were horrible. I cried. And I haven’t worked out since."

Working out wasn’t the only thing helping her regain her hot bod, as Jessica admits she wore a girdle to coax her tummy back into flatness.

"Eight weeks after my girlfriend had her baby, you could see her six-pack. She told me to put an elastic band around my waist – any kind of band or girdle works," Jessica shares. "I didn’t recover as fast as she did. I don’t have a six-pack – that’s just not my body at all."

Despite all the hard work that went into her campaign to get back into shape, Honor’s birth itself wasn’t so painful, says the brunette beauty, and holding her new daughter more than made up for any discomfort.

"That moment when they put the baby on your chest – that’s deep," she confesses. "It’s a deep experience."

Gwyneth Gets Even

February 2nd, 2009

Gwyneth Paltrow wants to get a few things off her chest. First, she’s aware of the negative reviews her new web site, GOOP, has received from critics, and she’s not taking them lying down.

"F**k the haters! I saw this blog of people writing horrible things about me and, for a second, your ego is so wounded," Paltrow, 36, says in the March issue of Elle UK. "How could people hate me, my intentions or what I’m trying to do? I’m a good person and I’m trying to put good things into the world."

Paltrow may be obsessed with ‘nourishing the inner aspect,’ and it’s a reputation she’s known for touting. But if you think she’s a prude, think again.

"I’m probably less square than people think," she insists. "I never get drunk to the point of throwing up. But I get very talkative."

She also tells the mag she misses her days as a smoker. "Man, I wish smoking didn’t kill you," she reveals. "I’d be smoking right now. I miss it."

Another beaten subject that just won’t seem to die is the state of her relationship with husband Chris Martin. When asked why they are never pictured together, Paltrow says, "It doesn’t behoove us to be a public couple. He certainly doesn’t want to be that."

She adds, "I mean, we’ve never walked down a red carpet together, and we never will."

The March issue of Elle UK hits stands tomorrow.

Eric Dane: I’m Faithful

December 12th, 2008

While he might play a promiscuous Lothario of a doctor on Grey’s Anatomy, Eric Dane in real life is quite content to stay faithful to his wife, Rebecca Gayheart.

"After five years, I still love sleeping with my wife," he tells Elle in a new interview. And for me, that’s the best option out there."

But aren’t their ladies everywhere willing to see if actually is McSteamy?

"They’re not taking their tops off for me in elevators, man," he admits. "I’m not getting panties thrown at me. There’s no free love anymore."

Speaking of taking tops off, Eric says he’d like to destroy any photo of his with his shirt off, after appearing on "Bad Beach Body" lists.

"I go eat a sandwich for lunch and have a milk shake and miss going to the gym for 10 days, and somebody snaps a picture of me on the beach, and all of a sudden, I’ve lost it," he confesses. "Why do I need to be perfect all the time? I don’t give a s**t. Why should you?"

We don’t, just please, keep taking your shirt off!

Beyonce: Split Personality

December 4th, 2008

It’s safe to say, Sasha Fierce is getting almost as much attention as her as her superstar alter-ego, Beyonce Knowles.

"Her cousin Angie gave her that name," mother Tina Knowles reveals in the December issue of Elle Magazine. "We’d tease Beyonce about having a split personality. Beyonce would come off stage between sets and start screaming, ‘What’s wrong with you? Where’s my shoe?’ ‘Uh-oh,’ we’d say, ‘Sasha is here.’"

Now pushing both a new album, I Am Sasha Fierce, and the film Cadillac Records, the 27-year-old is busier than ever. But the singer credits the years she spent in Destiny’s Child as keeping her grounded in the midst of her rising fame.

"We were really sheltered," she says of those days with fellow Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. "We would get on the tour bus and read the bible."

In April, Beyonce married longtime sweetheart and rap mogul Jay Z in a secret NYC ceremony. This year the couple topped Forbes list of richest couples with an estimated worth of $162 million. But the singer says it bothers her when comparisons are made between her family (who all work for team Beyonce in one way or another) and another rich and famous African-American family.

"I grew up upper-class. Private school. My dad had a Jaguar," she recalls. "We’re African-American and we work together as a family, so people assume we’re like the Jacksons. But I didn’t have parents using me to get out of a bad situation."
