diane_lindsayIt was a battle of the gorgeous blondes at a screening of Inglourious Basterds in NYC on Monday night.

A stunning Diane Kruger dazzled the red carpet in an embellished mini and strappy heels while Lindsay Lohan showed some skin in a sexy sheer top and mini skirt.

The Basterds cast and crew (with the notable exception of Brad Pitt) continued their grueling promotional tour, partying the night away at the after-party for the Cinema Society screening sponsored by Grey Goose vodka at the Standard Hotel alongside stars Chace Crawford, Michelle Monaghan, Emma Roberts, Padma Lakshmi and John Stamos.

Forget the scrubs, we like Eric’s shirtless look even better!

Hollywood hunk Eric Dane ditches his shirt, talks on a cell phone and plays bongos as he shoots scenes for the romantic comedy, Valentine’s Day, on a yacht in Malibu on August 6. The Grey’s Anatomy actor will co-star with Patrick Dempsey in the all-star cast of Valentine’s Day, which includes Queen Latifah, Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Garner, Shirley MacLaine, Bradley Cooper, Topher Grace, Hector Elizondo, Carter Jenkins and Jessica Biel.

Wow, we hope all these big time actor’s egos don’t get in the way of filming!

Emma Roberts Grows Up

April 2nd, 2009

It’s sheer madness at the Gen Art Film Festival premiere of Lymelife held Wednesday at NYC’s Visual Arts Theater.

Alec Baldwin plays a workaholic dad going through a divorce in the coming-of-age drama set during a Lyme disease outbreak in the 1970s. The 30 Rock star got his teeth kicked out during a scene. “I have a huge mouth guard I wear now,” he says.

That’s not the only tension point.

Emma Roberts, 18, experiences her first love scene with Rory Culkin, who looks like a carbon copy of brother Macaulay.

“It was very delicate,” director Derick Martini tells me. “We wouldn’t allow anyone on the set. The monitors were all off, and it was just me, the camera, Emma and Rory in the room. She’s a marvelous actress, and when you give her a good idea, she runs with it, so it wasn’t hard at all. She actually hit it every single time. We did it in one or two takes.”

Was she nervous?

“I’m certain she was, but more anticipatory anxiety,” the director says. “Whatever anxiety she had worked for the scene.”

Here comes Emma, who playfully shuns questions about her note-exchange apology with Nick Jonas at Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards several days ago. (She told April’s Teen Vogue, “I used to have a crush on Nick, but he’s kind of making his rounds in Hollywood, and I don’t know if I like that.”)

“This is my first role that’s a transition to more adult roles,” she says. “The script was so well-written, and such a perfect part for me to transition from teen star to more adult films. It’s hard to find great material that’s not too over-the-top edgy, but still shows you in a different light.”

How does Emma avoid falling prey to the scandals that have befallen her peers a la Miley Cyrus and countless other teen stars?

“I have a really good group of friends that I hang out with all the time,” she says. “I have a great family that keeps me grounded. I do my own thing. I don’t really try and draw attention to myself unnecessarily.”

Jill Hennessy plays Alec’s wife. What was that like?

“I had the best time with that guy,” she tells me. “He’s such a g–damn actor. That’s the kind of person you want to work with when the scenes get really intense and terrifying, because he loves to play. He was begging me to hit him harder in scenes. ‘Jill, you can do whatever you want to me. Touch me in any area you would like. Let your mind wander with that, by the way.’ I love the guy. I’ve known him for ten years, and he always treated me like gold.”

As for his famous temper that he unleashed on his then-11-year-old daughter Ireland, calling her a “thoughtless little pig” in 2007?

“We had to play like we had tempers,” Jill says, shunning the notion that Alec is easily angered. “He’s one of the sweetest, most incredibly articulate, funniest people I know, and he always has been – even before he did 30 Rock.”

 Lymelife opens April 8.

Taylor Momsen, Jimmy Fallon Give Props To Topshop

April 1st, 2009 / Author: Valerie Nome

It’s a British invasion during day one of the Topshop and Topman launch events held Tuesday at NYC’s Balthazar.

The grand opening of the UK clothier that counts Ashlee Simpson and Estelle as fans coincides with Tartan Week.

“I love that it’s so innovative,” Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen says moments after paps race to snap the shot of her getting out of a car. “Their shoes are ridiculously comfortable. It’s so hard to find shoes that are really comfy, and every pair I put on are great.”

Jimmy Fallon sneaks a photo-opp kiss from wife Nancy Juvonen.

“I really don’t have time to shop at all, but I hear it’s a good thing,” the Late Night host says. “You get good deals.”

Santigold steps up.

What was her most memorable April Fools’ joke?

“I never do April Fools,” the singer born Santi White, 33, tells me. “I’m not that clever about jokes. I’m always like ‘oh!’ And I never get anything. I’m the slowest – I’m gullible. I probably get jokes played on me all the time, but I don’t remember which ones were April Fools.”

New mom Michelle Monaghan can’t get enough Topshop.

“I love that it’s totally affordable, it’s fabulous clothes and accessories. It’s just so much fun to wear and the shop is great. The store’s fantastic.”

Emma Roberts
confesses she’s “really excited” to go to college in NYC. “I’m excited to start a new chapter of my life,” Julia’s niece says.

Emily Mortimer tells me she’s obsessed with finding the perfect bra.  “A good bra has eluded me,” she says.

Perhaps Topshop has the answer.

Topshop celebrates its grand opening in NYC Thursday. Check it out at Broadway and Broome.

Emma Roberts Disses Lindsay

February 2nd, 2009

Emma Roberts has a lot on her side – including famous relatives like superstar actress Julia Roberts (she’s Emma’s aunt), a successful child acting career and roles in both family-friendly movies like Hotel for Dogs and indie flicks like Lymelife – but don’t ask Lindsay Lohan to line up behind the (almost) 18-year-old starlet any time soon.

In a new interview Emma gives advice on how to successfully move from child roles to more mature movies and characters, and let’s just say she doesn’t think anyone should take a page from Lilo’s book.

"I just think it’s very thin ice you’re walking on, to make the transition from child actor to adolescence. Because, you know, so many people just mess it up, and they do things that are so outrageous."

Hmm, whoever could she mean?

Emma goes on to hold up Anne Hathaway as the perfect example of a young actress moving from Disney movies on to award nominations, and says Lindsay didn’t complete that transition successfully.

"Like, Lindsay Lohan, you still know that she was in Freaky Friday and The Parent Trap, and it’s hard to take her seriously," she admits. "So that’s why I really like –  like, Anne Hathaway is a great example. I think she’s been nominated for so many awards this year. And the fact that she starred in a Disney movie when she was in her teens – a lot of people don’t even know that, I don’t think."

Thanks for clearing that up, Emma.
