William Balfour Indicted on Hudson Murders

December 30th, 2008

The man accused of killing Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew has been formally indicted on murder and home invasion charges.

William Balfour, 27, was indicted on the same four counts he was formally charged with earlier this month–three counts of first degree murder and one count of home invasion, E! online is reporting. Balfour appeared in court on Tuesday where he continued to deny any involvement in the Oct. 24 slayings of Darnell Donerson, 57, Jason Hudson, 29, and Julian King, 7 in Chicago.

Balfour’s attorney has asked that he be transferred to the Cook County Jail in order to be nearer to his family. The next hearing is set for Jan. 20.

Suspect Cleared in Ruffalo Shooting

December 9th, 2008

Shaha Mishaal Adham, one of the two suspects the Beverly Hills Police were holding as a suspect in the shooting death of Scott Ruffalo, has been released after she told police that Ruffalo shot himself while playing with a gun.

An attorney for Adham said his client has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

"This was an accidental shooting by someone that plays with guns," lawyer Ronald Richards told the Associated Press. He said the police had been "more than impartial with the facts," and that Adham had only been a witness to a game of Russian Roulette.

Richards claims that Scott Ruffalo’s wound was self-inflicted and that Adham left after retrieving her car keys. Scott died Monday after being removed from life support, and his family released a statement thanking well wishers.

"Mark Ruffalo and his family deeply appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support during this most difficult time of the passing of Scott Ruffalo, beloved son, brother and husband. The funeral service will be private. A memorial fund has been established in Scott Ruffalo’s name."

The family is asking that donations be made to:

Jealousy Possible Motive for Hudson Murders

December 3rd, 2008

William Balfour, the man charged with murdering Jennifer Hudson’s family members, may have had one of the oldest motives in the book for killing.

Just hours after his bail was denied on Wednesday, prosecutors say Balfour, 27, may have been plain jealous that his estranged wife Julia (Hudson’s sister) was seeing another man. He reportedly threatened to "harm" her family if she continued to see a new man and confronted them, prosecutors say, on the day of the murders.

TMZ is reporting that Balfour was just brought to Cook County Jail, booked and is now being housed in the general population.

OK! Interview: LeAnn Rimes Talks Family

November 16th, 2007

At 25, country pop star LeAnn Rimes has accomplished quite a lot. For six years, she’s managed to juggle a hugely successful music career with a happy marriage, and do it all without, seemingly, blinking an eye. The country superstar tells OK! that her new album, Family, reflects on her own experiences as a public figure and how it would all mean nothing without her, well, family.

“You know, ‘family’ is a very multifaceted word for me. It’s an interesting word when you’ve grown up with the world as your family, and you’ve gone through public ups and downs with your family,” she explained to OK! when she sat down with us at the Go Green and Small with all event in New York City.

“I’m thinking about having my own family eventually,” the singer added. “And then there is my extended family of friends. All of those relationships are covered on this album — very honestly, very openly, so I thought it was the perfect title.”

Like many A-listers her age, LeAnn shot to stardom as a teenager. But unlike several of her contemporaries, this platinum-selling artist has managed to avoid garnering negative attention. That being said, LeAnn’s the first to point out that she wasn’t always the perfect kid.

“I had a lot of respect for myself and I had great parents that taught me how to make proper decisions,” she recalled. “But you know, I was just a teenager and God knows I’ve had my moments — I’ve never been a saint — but I think I’ve learned from my mistakes and moved on and I’ve tried not to make them over and over again.”

Her family is definitely something she hopes to expand on in the future. And her next album (yes, she’s already starting writing for a new album) will reflect those desires even more. “ I think there’s a little of that on the record; I think there will be even more of that on the next one. Yeah, there’s talk of future plans with kids, absolutely.”

Maybe she can use those mistakes as lessons for her future kids!
