Brit’s Manager: Movie Shows She’s a Star

November 21st, 2008

As one of the trusted voices by Britney Spears‘ side as she reemerges into the spotlight, manager Larry Rudolph says the pop star’s new documentary, For the Record is all about telling it like it is.

"We went there with it," he told MTV news last night at preview of the movie in L.A. "You see Britney in a light you’re not used to seeing her in. She’s intelligent, she’s introspective, she’s honest. By the end of the film you really understand who she is in a way that you just never imagined. … It is so not a puff piece."

As for what fans can expect to see in the 90-minute documentary, Larry says they’ll see what they always have about Brit – her star quality.

"She’s got a unique set of talents. She’s got a blend of certain talents," he says. "She’s a great singer. She’s a great dancer. She’s got an amazing image. She’s incredibly likable." In short, he sums up, "She’s got this intangible thing that makes her a star."

The documentary is set to air on MTV on Nov. 30, a few days before Britney’s new album Circus debuts on Dec. 2, her 27th birthday.

In new promos for her upcoming documentary For the Record, airing on MTV on Nov. 30, Britney Spears is already opening up quite a bit on her troubled life.

"There’s a lot that people don’t now about me that I want them to know," she reveals in one, adding, "I don’t think that anyone can prepare themselves for what stardom really brings."

And for Britney, stardom brought a quick marriage, two children, a string of bizarre incidents and a hospitalization in only a few years, something she says has changed her for the better.

"I’ve been through a lot the past two or three years, and I’ve definitely grown up, big time," she muses. "I sit there and I look back and I’m like, ‘I’m a smart person, like, what the hell was I thinking?"

The comeback queen also admits that tying the knot with Kevin Federline might not have been the best move, saying, "I think i married for the wrong reasons. Instead of following my heart and like doing something that made me really happy, I just did it for like, the idea of everything."

"So much has gone on over the last couple of years and there’s a lot that people don’t know about me that I want them to know," Britney told MTV News in a statement about the new show. "I wanted to make this film because I started to feel like I wasn’t being seen in the light that I wanted to be seen in. This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I’ve been through and where I’m headed."

In the documentary, cameras follow Britney to the recording studio, to rehearsals, to press tours, to the video shoot for her latest single, "Womanizer," and even to her home town in Louisiana. Through it all, Britney reveals the struggle she’s had to endure to put her life back in order.

"Sometimes it can get lonely ’cause you don’t open the gate," she can be heard saying. "I’m stuck in this place, and I just cope every day."
