Adam Lambert Comes Out… Officially

June 9th, 2009

Drumroll, please… Hear ye, hear ye, citizens of the world: Adam Lambert is gay (cue unsurprised silence, and cries of "duh!").

Yep, American Idol’s Glambert is officially coming out of the closet in the next issue of Rolling Stone, candidly admitting, “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay."

In the interview, the rocker opens up about his childhood, revealing, "I started to realize I wasn’t like every other boy,” as well as why he stayed officially mum on the topic of his sexuality for so long.

"Right after the finale, I almost started talking about it to the reporters, but I thought, ‘I’m going to wait for Rolling Stone, that will be cooler,’ " he says. "I didn’t want the Clay Aiken thing and the celebrity-magazine bulls**t. I need to be able to explain myself in context.

"I’m proud of my sexuality," he adds. "I embrace it. It’s just another part of me."

But don’t expect him to be out marching against Prop 8 anytime soon, as he confesses he’s not ready to be the poster boy for gay rights.

“I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader,” he says.

We can just hear Perez Hilton’s seething rage right about now…

Kara DioGuardi Outs Adam

May 29th, 2009

Adam Lambert has always been about entertaining and singing, and less about answering personal questions about his sexuality. In fact, he’s been quoted as tellinig people to "keep speculating" when it came to his orientation.

But American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi says it’s no secret that he’s gay.

In an interview for ABC’s The View, Barbara Walters asked if Adam’s sexuality might have influenced voters, to which Kara replied, "Well, first of all, I hope not… because we should be judging on talent and viability in the music industry and they both [Adam and winner Kris Allen] had that."

And when it comes to whether he’s gay or not, Kara thinks it’s no secret to be speculated on.

"I don’t think that Adam was ever in [the closet]," Kara adds. "I think he was always openly out."

When Barbara asks if he really was open about it, Kara confirms that she never thought otherwise, replying, "I think he was. I mean from what I’ve seen… I do. I never thought he wasn’t."

Any way you cut it, Adam’s proved to the world that he’s got talent, plain and simple.

Kelly Clarkson Does Not Kiss Girls

March 12th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Kelly Clarkson wants to make one thing clear – just because she doesn’t have a boyfriend doesn’t mean she wants a girlfriend.

"No!" she tells Entertainment Tonight in an interview airing tonight when asked if she goes for girls. "I went to Europe and it was in the press everywhere and I was like, ‘I don’t get it, was I sleepwalking and kissed a girl and there’s a picture or something?’ Just because I’m single and don’t date a lot, that doesn’t make me a lesbian."

In fact, she’s got quite a list when it comes to her requirements for a dateable guy: "A confident guy that has his own thing going on. Anyone that can make me laugh," she reveals. "Guys are usually so nervous, they don’t talk. Every guy I’ve dated, I’ve worked with and we knew each other before."

KELLY’S STYLE EVOLUTION:

So if it’s not the lesbian thing holding her back, maybe things like admitting she pees in the shower and looks at her snot could be preventing Prince Charming from stepping forward. Just a thought.

Kelly Clarkson Says She’s Not a Lesbian

February 3rd, 2009

If you’re a single lady hoping to take Kelly Clarkson out on a date, don’t get your hopes up – the American Idol alum insists she’s straight despite rumors that she might hit for the other team.

"I get that all the time," she tells PopEater.com of the gay gossip. "People are like, ‘Are you secretly a lesbian? Because I’d really love it.’ Lesbians tell it to me all the time. I’m like, ‘I’m glad it works for you and I wish I liked women like that because oftentimes men are very hard for me, but I happen to like boys.’"

While she says she could "never be a lesbian," it’s not you, ladies, it’s Kelly.

"I would never want to date [someone like] myself, ever. I’m a crazy person," she admits.

So who completes the requirements needed to inspire a song like "My Life Would Suck Without You"?

"I need some kind of stable, quiet man. I don’t really care if you’re black, white, yellow, gay, straight, crazy, whatever," Kelly reveals. "As long as you’re cool and you like the music, and you’re coming out to have a good time at the shows, I don’t really care."

Danielle Fishel’s Dating Block

January 2nd, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Danielle Fishel has dater’s block. She’d love to marry one day but can’t forget her romance with former ’Nsync-er Lance Bass, who came out in 2006.

“I don’t assume anybody is straight anymore,” the Boy Meets World Star, 27, who hosts Style Network’s The Dish, tells OK!. “I’m always like, ‘Hmm, wonder if he’s gay?’ ”

She and Lance were never intimate in their 1999–2000 relationship, she says. “I was naive, 17 and a good girl!” After they split, she confronted Lance, who told her, “ ‘I knew if I wasn’t happy with you, I wasn’t going to be happy in a relationship with any woman.’ ”

Danielle adds, “I wish he’d felt he could have been honest with me then!” Despite that, she and Lance are still friendly — and she hopes to follow him on Dancing With the Stars: “There could be no better way to get into incredible shape!” she says.

Clay Aiken’s New Life

December 1st, 2008

While the rest of the world might not have been too shocked when Clay Aiken came out to the world a few months ago, the American Idol alum struggled with his sexuality for a long  time before he was ready to stop avoiding the topic.

"I’m from the south and we don’t talk about our problems," he tells Entertainment Tonight in an interview airing this evening.  "We sweep them under the rug. We avoided discussing things beforehand."

However once fame came knocking on his door, due to his exposure on Idol and his subsequent singing career, Clay says he didn’t have a chance to sweep up anything anymore.

"There was no more opportunity for denial," the new dad admits.

These days Clay is busy, reprising the role of  Sir Robin in Monty Python’s Spamalot on Broadway and caring for his three-month-old son Parker, whose mother is his good friend Jaymes Foster. .

"It was probably a week before [Jaymes] had to change a diaper at all!" the devoted dad admits. "I’m trying my best to be the one who doesn’t always let him get what he wants, but he owns us."

Be sure to tune in to ET tonight for more!

Gay Survivor Spills on Aiken

September 24th, 2008

If there was ever a way to promote your reality television debut, this is it!

Star of the new season of Survivor: Gabon, Charlie Herschel, is telling everyone he was Clay Aiken’s confidant just prior to the American Idol runner up’s decision to come out of the closet as an openly gay man.

Charlie, 29, tells The Advocate he was Aiken’s online chat buddy for about two years.  The two started chatting on a popular social networking site and the casual chat-fests soon developed into a friendship while Aiken was in NYC performing in Spamalot.

"There was a point when I was in law school that I was on IM almost every day," Charlie, an openly gay New York attorney, says, adding that the two have maintained a friendship ever since.

Survivor: Gabon premieres Thursday, Sept. 25.

Mariska Hargitay, Tim Gunn Get GLAAD

March 26th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Mariska Hargitay, Alan Cumming, Graham Norton and Project Runway star Tim Gunn step out for the GLAAD Awards held at Marriott Marquis in NYC.

“Whoever can say my name gets a smile,” Mariska chuckles to photogs, as she clutches her hubby Peter Hermann.

How does it feel to be back to work on Law & Order: SVU?

“Awesome,” she says.

“Hi, hi, hi,” Alan says. The actor, who is legally wed to his partner in Europe, urges closeted gays to come out.

“I think it’s a great thing to be able to live the life you want to live and not to have to lie. I feel sad for people who are not able to do that. As a performer, I think all the stuff that people say about ‘it will affect my career,’ I think that’s just stupid. A) It’s all hypothetical and b) Do you want to have a career that is about lying and living a lie and not being the person that you are? I don’t think people care that much about who’s gay and who’s straight when they go and see a film or a play.”

BTW, he tells me his Gray Matters co-star Bridget Moynahan is “lovely” with her 7-month-old son John.

How does Tim feel about being a role model for the gay community?

“It’s the greatest honor I have,” he says. “I mean that. I am so proud that people see me that way, and so proud that people respond positively to who I am, because I can only be who I am. I know how in need I was of positive role models when I was growing up. It was not easy. You had Paul Lind and I didn’t want to aspire to that, so I’m very touched by it.”

Despite hosting his own show on BBC America, Gucci-clad host Graham admits he’s stressed about heading up the evening.

“I think this is harder. It’s a big live event, and I don’t know this audience. I don’t know who’s going to be there. I’m sort of out of my comfort zone. My own little show, I just roll out of bed and do it.”

Xanadu star Cheyenne Jackson says he feeds his dog Zorra his protein shake. “I dribble it in a like a mama bird,” he says. “She’s mostly Rottweiler, with Labrador, maybe Doberman. We don’t know for sure. There is a $60 test you do — you swab the inside for their mouths, and send it away. They’ll tell you exactly what’s in your mutt. It’s kind of fun not to know, but I kind of do want to know.”

I bump into Mariska and hubby and Alan — holding a glass of chardonnay — again at the cocktail party. Time to join Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick and Barbara Walters inside.
