George Takei & Hubby First Gay Couple on “The Newlywed Game”
September 16th, 2009 / Author: Mary Beth QuirkCelebs Parody Anti-Gay Marriage Ad
April 21st, 2009
A new ad from The Nation of Marriage making the rounds on YouTube, called "Gathering Storm," features somber, scared-looking people warning others that a storm that is somehow linked to gay marriage is on its way, threatening everyone else.
"The clouds are dark, and the winds are strong," says one person standing in front of a stormy landscape, joined by another adding, "And I am afraid."
"I am a Massachusetts parent helplessly watching public schools teach my son that gay marriage is okay," adds another person.
"My freedom will be taken away," says another, as the ad apparently tries to link the idea that giving rights to one group of people will obviously make others unable to live their lives as they usually do or ban straight marriage outright.
Now celebs like Sophia Bush, Sarah Chalke, Lance Bass, Jason Lewis, Alicia Silverstone and George Takei are fighting back with humor, in their FunnyOrDie.com parody on the ad, called "The Gaythering Storm."

George Takei Fires Back at Shatner
October 23rd, 2008
In an odd four-minute YouTube speech, William Shatner responds bitterly to the question of why he wasn’t invited to Star Trek co-star George Takei’s wedding.
"Well the whole thing makes me feel badly," he says in the video. "Poor man, there’s such a sickness there. It’s so painfully obvious there’s a psychosis there."
Apparently William thinks he was left off the guest list because of something George has held against him for years, but he plays clueless in the video.
"I don’t know what his orginal thing about me was," he says. "I have no idea."
But now George has responded to William’s video missive, saying Captain Kirk was invited to his Sept. 15 wedding ceremony.
"It’s absolutely baffling to us because we did invite Bill and we didn’t hear from him!" George tells Entertainment Tonight. "But it wasn’t surprising because it’s true to his history. He’s never responded to an invitation. Every time there was something happy to celebrate amongst us, he never showed up."
As for William’s comments that George is suffering from a "psychosis," he fires back, "I think his stability is quite questionable. Bill likes to be the star of the show. He likes the attention focused on him. It’s a big, shiny, demanding ego. It’s all typical of Bill. His ranting and raving is just silliness."
Don’t expect the newlywed to bear a grudge against his former co-star, however. George says he’ll keep doing what he always has when it comes to William.
"We keep reaching out and he takes it and turns it into something ugly. But I’ll keep extending a hand to him."

George Takei says “I Do”
September 15th, 2008
Wedding bells were ringing yesterday for former Star Trek actor George Takei (aka "Mr. Sulu") as he and his boyfriend Brad Altman said their vows in front of almost 200 people in a Buddhist ceremony in L.A., according to Reuters.
Fellow Star Trek crew members from the 1960s show joined the couple in celebrating their marriage including Walter Koenig ("Chekhov") and matron of honor Nichelle Nichols ("Uhura").
George, 71, and his new husband Brad, 54, have been together for over 21 years, and were finally allowed to officially commit to each other after the California Supreme Court struck down the ban on gay marriages last May.
The newlyweds wore matching white tuxedo jackets and shirts, black pants and bow ties during the wedding at the Japanese American National Museum. George’s family was among the interned 12,000 Japanese-Americans interned during World War II, and he has long been an avid human rights activis.
Congratulations, George and Brad!
Stars’ Talents to Remain Secret
April 11th, 2008 / Author: OK! StaffIt’s time to bring out the body bag for another premature cancellation, as CBS announced on Thursday that it was pulling the plug on its latest reality competion, Secret Talents of the Stars, after airing only one episode.
The show, which was hosted by Seinfeld and Dancing With the Stars alum John O’Hurley, featured celebrities trying their hand at skills and talents other than the ones that made them famous — country singer Clint Black gave stand-up comedy a shot while Star Trek’s George Takei tested out his ability as a country crooner — received relatively dismal ratings for its first episode.
According to reports, it will be replaced with repeats of 48 Hours Mysteries until new episodes of legal drama Shark are ready to air in a few weeks.
