Contrary to rumors reported on Latina.com last Friday that singer M.I.A. had named her newborn son Ickitt, the Oscar-nominated Brit took to the Internet over the weekend to say it just ain’t so.

In a post on her MySpace.com blog, a caps-lock happy M.I.A wrote:

M.I.A. Reveals Baby Name!

March 6th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

It’s been almost a month since British music star M.I.A. strutted her 9-months pregnant stuff on the stage at the Grammys. The Oscar-nominated singer gave birth to a baby boy a few days later on Feb. 11, but a name for the tot was never revealed — until now.

According to Latina.com M.I.A. — real name Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam — and her fiancé Benjamin Brewer have decided to go with the… unique name of Ickitt for their newborn son.

No explanation for exactly what — if anything — "Ickitt" might mean. But in a world where rock stars can name their children Bronx Mowgli without having to undergo court-ordered psychiatric exams, anything is possible.

During an interview with JohnJay and Rich on their radio show, Cyrus said she was dissed by Radiohead at this year’s Grammy Awards, despite forcing her manager to beg them for an introduction.

"My manager asked and said, you know, ‘Miley, she’s really obsessed and she’d really like to meet them,’ and they were like, ‘Yeah, we don’t really do that,’" Miley told JohnJay and Rich. "I left ’cause I was so upset. I wasn’t going to watch!"

"I’d already texted all my friends, we were all freaking out. This is someone who I like would have cried to [have met]," she continued. "Stinkin’ Radiohead!"

Chris Brown’s Half-Hearted “My Bad”

February 15th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

One week to the day after singer Chris Brown was arrested for an alleged attack on his girlfriend Rihanna, the 19-year-old finally came out from under whatever rock he was hiding to issue an apology of sorts.

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," reads the statement released through Brown’s rep. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person."

And while it may have been good for most people to just leave it at that, Chris — who doesn’t exactly admit any guilt or explain his side of the events — goes on to defend himself against unspecified rumors and reports.

"Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong," he claims. "While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds."

This is the first public statement from either side of the Feb. 8 incident. Brown, who was released on $50,000 bail after only a few hours in police custoday, is next due in court on March 5.

How Katy Perry Deals With Drama

February 9th, 2009

Katy Perry rocked the Grammys with a banana-and-cherry flanked performance of her hit single I Kissed A Girl.

How does she deal with drama — given her hectic schedule — when her personal life is imploding?

“I am learning how to meditate,” the singer, 24, tells me. “Drama has existed since junior high in my life, and that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. I just continue to put one foot in front of the other, I’m extremely focused, and if I’m not, my sister makes sure to keep me focused.”

In December, the California girl split from Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy, 27, after a year-and-a-half of dating. They exchanged promise rings last summer.

“I’m in love, and I haven’t really been this head-over-heels for anyone since third grade,” he told me in October. “That’s a good feeling. Yeah. My cheeks are tingling.”

Still, Katy couldn’t be happier with the path her life has taken.

What’s the biggest perk of fame?

“The gift lounge,” she laughs. “I guess it’s not the exact biggest perk, but it’s kind of the bigger-picture perk because we get a lot of stuff, and we get to give it back, and in life I think you generally want to do that in your career. You want to leave a Paul Newman legacy, honestly, and – not to sound cheesy – but I get a lot of extra stuff. I know that my girlfriend backstage has a real cracked-out BlackBerry, and I got a new BlackBerry. She’s getting it.”

Even though Katy didn’t take home the Grammy for best female pop vocal performance, she’s still in great spirits.

Catch Katy Perry on tour. She performs at In The Venue in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Tuesday.

Travis Barker Explains Arm Sling

February 9th, 2009

Seeing Travis Barker sporting an arm sling at last night’s Grammy Awards was a stark reminder of the fatal plane crash he and DJ AM survived last September.

No need to worry too much over the recovering musician, however, as Travis explained to Extra.

"I kind of rushed out of the hospital and my hand was numb, but I didn’t tell anybody. I just wanted to get out. The numbness didn’t go away," he says. "It was like in four or five of my fingers. I really wanted to fix it as soon as possible. I had bad nerve damage, so I just got surgery. I have eight to ten weeks to recover."

Helping him to get better will surely be his longtime friends and Blink 182 bandmates– the guys recently announced they’ll be reuniting to make music together once again.

"When you’re in a band, you have this unspoken bond. You’re kind of family with your boys. We took a break for a little bit," explains Tom DeLeonge. "I think when Travis had the event happen to him it was something that pulled us back together… We always knew it was inevitable."

Chris Brown Arrested for Alleged Assault

February 8th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested 19-year-old R&B singer Chris Brown for suspicion of making criminal threats and they are investigating allegations of domestic violence battery.

The incident in question occurred Saturday evening after Chris and girlfriend Rihanna attended the pre-Grammy party to honor music-industry legend Clive Davis.

According to the booking sheet obtained by OK! from the L.A. Sheriff’s Dept., Chris was released on $50,000 bail shortly after being officially charged with the crime on Sunday night.

Scroll down to see the booking sheet.

"At around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 8, 2009, an alleged domestic violence felony battery involving R&B singer Chris Brown and a woman occurred," LAPD public-information officer Karen Smith tells OK!.

"Brown and the woman were in a vehicle on North June Street in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles when, according to the victim, they became involved in an argument. After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out, and the argument escalated. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker."

"The LAPD received a 9-1-1 call reporting the disturbance. When officers arrived, they found the victim, but Brown had already left the scene. The LAPD is conducting an investigation into the incident."

Both Chris and Rihanna — who police will neither confirm nor deny is the woman in question — were scheduled to perform at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards. However, both called off their appearances.

"We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending tonight’s 51st Annual Grammy Awards," the show’s producers said in a statement to OK!. "We’re sorry she is unable to join us this evening."

Katy Perry Takes a Vow of Celibacy

January 21st, 2009

She may sing about kissing girls, but Grammy nominee Katy Perry won’t be kissing anyone–girls or boys–anytime soon.

According to TVGuide, Perry, 24, has announced she’s taking a vow of celibacy this year. The topic sprung up when Perry was asked who she’d like to kiss at the Grammy Awards this year.

"I’ve actually taken a vow of celibacy this year…no kissing anyone," Perry said. "Just my cat, Kitty Purry."

The first-time Grammy nominee also shared that her parents are still reeling from the nod. "They can’t believe they created something that is Grammy-nominated," she said.
