I’ll write a more detailed blog tomorrow, but I just walked in the door from playing groupie at a practice session for Band from TV (Thanks Mr. Bob Guiney) and had so much fun I wanted to share right away – although now I’ve gotta go to a party for the Madden NFL 09 VIP Premiere at STK/Coco de Ville.
A former band guy’s girlfriend, I forgot how much fun going to band practice can be. People had to fill in at practice for the otherwise committed Greg Grunberg (drums) and Teri Hatcher (female vocalist) who will both be performing at the show (NETFLIX LIVE! ON LOCATION CONCERT AND SCREENING) Saturday in LA, but I got to hang out while the rest of the band, Desperate Housewives James Denton (guitar), House’s resident hottie Jesse Spencer on rock violin, Heroes’ Adrian Pasdar (guest appearance on guitar) and lead vocalist Bachelor Bob Guiney as they rehearsed for the performance, the proceeds for which will all go to charity, as does every effort from the hottest band on TV.
James (Jamie as Bob called him) Denton (such a nice guy) told me The Band from TV initially formed about three years ago when he and Greg Grunberg met at a charity event to raise awareness for autism. Later they met Bob Guiney, at a charity event to raise money for cancer research. Now, they all jam together to raise money for various charities – and they’re good, and entertaining, and I was proud to be their groupie du jour.
I remember a time when I thought the term ‘groupie’ had a negative connotation. When I was in college and used to hang out watching my share of bands I’d insist I was ‘friends with the band,’ not a ‘band groupie.’ But today, older and wiser, I wear the groupie label with pride, I mean, what’s wrong with enjoying entertaining talent and sharing your admiration/adoration? I’ve decided nothing, so I’m proud to be a groupie for The Band from TV. Maybe I’ll start a fan club. Or not, I can hardly maintain this blog, but if someone else does I’ll join ' class='wp-smiley' /> xo</p>

At the grand opening of Lamborghini Calabasas on Wednesday night, celebrities drove fast cars for a good cause as Heroes star Greg Grunberg hosted the party, which featured DJs English Mafia, to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation. But male model extraordinaire Fabio (who has two Lamborghinis at home) was just happy to get out of a charity event without a scuffle. Earlier this month, at a different charity dinner, the long-haired hunk got into it with George Clooney and now he’s telling OK! his side of the story.
“I was doing a charity for the 11-99 Foundation, which benefits the widows and children of officers killed in the line of duty,” says Fabio of the infamous Nov. 2 dinner at Madeo. “I had dinner with six women and a photographer woman and we were just having fun, having dinner and taking pictures. All of a sudden one of the ladies said to me, ‘There is this gentleman a few tables behind you that keeps insulting me, keeps giving me the finger.’ She’s like, ‘This gentleman behind you called me a fat cow.’”
“So I turn and it was him,” Fabio says of Clooney. “He was drunk and thought people were taking pictures of him. So I went to the table and explained to him that we were having a charity dinner and I said, ‘You’re more than welcome to come to my table and see if there was a picture of you.’ I apologized and he started being rude so I put him in his place. After I put him in his place — you know I’m three times his size — he got a little scared. I went back to my table and as soon as I sit down he paid his bill, got up and he started insulting the girls. He called the women names. At that point I lost my temper. I went after him and he ran out of the restaurant.”
“He has no class,” Fabio tells OK!. “You have to be a low-class, scumbag to start calling a woman a name. If you’re a man, you should never. You should be a gentleman. These women were with me and as a man I defend them. He was lucky he ran out of the restaurant. He’s not even half a man.”

Today’s the last day of the Toronto Film Festival. The tents that housed the shows for New York Fashion Week are being taken down and even talk about the VMAs have become stale. In LA celebs are swagging as they gear up for the Emmy Awards on Sunday. At the Kari Feinstein Lounge my spy witness saw Jennifer Love Hewitt downing a vitaminenergy drink, Jeremy Piven sans Entourage and Heroes star Greg Grunberg and his wife picking up ‘Booty Parlor’ products like an Intimacy Lovekit, Turn Me On Vibrating Panties and Melt Chocolate Body Fondue. Also hear that while Greg was playing with Booty Parlor’s Good Girl/ Bad Girl Whipper Tickler, he remarked, "Every ‘hero’ needs one of these to keep their wife happy!" Hmm.
Me, I’m currently debating the gym or a drink after work and looking forward to a relaxing weekend in NYC.
