Brooke Shields’ Virgin Regret

May 26th, 2009

Brooke Shields is a beautiful, successful actress and devoted mom. But even this former model had some issues with her body, which led to her hanging on to her virtue longer than she would’ve liked.

She admits in the new issue of Health that one regret she had is "not learning to love the way I looked earlier."

"And I think I would have had sex a lot earlier!," she laughs. "I think I would have lost my virginity earlier than I did at 22. I had the public and all this pressure, and I wish I had just gotten it over with in the beginning when it was sort of OK.

I think I would have been much more in touch with myself," she reveals. "I think I wouldn’t have had issues with weight—I carried this protective 20 pounds [in college]. It was all connected. And to me, that’s a health regret."

All’s well that ends well, it seems, as Brooke is now happily married to Chris Henchy and is a proud mother to two girls.

Howie Mandel Doing “Just Fine”

January 22nd, 2009

Howie Mandel is making the rounds, calming fears that his health is not up to par.

In a new interview with Extra, the Deal Or No Deal host says he’s doing great after experiencing a recent health scare in Toronto.

"I am fine. They said my heart is healthy and strong and I just have a different rhythm than most people," Mandel said. "I hadn’t eaten or drank anything so it was just due to that."

"That" being when Mandel passed out in the lobby of his hotel. He had just returned from having an outpatient procedure to correct an irregular heart beat. He had been told to fast beforehand, which probably caused him to faint.

"In the middle of doing Howie Do It, which is a prank show…lying unconscious in the lobby of a hotel and people are going, ‘Ohhh…’ and somebody else is yelling, ‘911!’ they’re going, ‘this is a joke. You’re kidding. He’s kidding.’ And I wasn’t kidding."

Howie says he’s now doing great and wants to reiterate that he did NOT suffer a heart attack, as previously suspected.

However, an admitted germaphobe, he said he wouldn’t even get undressed when taken to the hospital.

"I was on a gurney…and there I was in my boots and pants and parka…"

Jermaine Jackson Denies Talking About Michael’s Health

December 23rd, 2008

Amid the reports that Michael Jackson has a rare illness requiring him, among other things, to need a lung transplant, his big bro, Jermaine Jackson, has jumped to his defense, assuring the world he had nothing to do with rumors claiming Michael is sick.

Jermaine released a statement through his attorney on Tuesday, stating:

"Contrary to various news and media reports, Jermaine Jackson has advised me that he has made absolutely no comments about the health of his brother, Michael Jackson, and that any comments or statements attributed to him regarding the health of Michael Jackson are a complete and total fabrication.  Further, nothing is to be construed or concluded from Jermaine’s lack of comment because such a conclusion might, in fact, be erroneous."

On Monday, a doctor from the King of Pop’s camp released a statement denying the reports that he’s suffering from Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency and calling them a "total fabrication."

The statement, purportedly written by a Dr. Tohme Tohme, who is referred to as Jacko’s "official and sole spokesperson" takes issues with the recent claims of
writer Ian Halperin that the oddball pop star suffers from emphysema and internal bleeding, and has lost 95 percent of the vision in his left eye.

Oprah: I Fell Off the Wagon

December 9th, 2008

While Oprah Winfrey may inspire others every day to change their lives, she admits she’s had a bit of trouble doing that in her own life, especially when it comes to her weight. The daytime diva confesses that she has "fallen off the wagon" of healthy living and now weighs in at 200 pounds.

"I’m mad at myself," she writes in the January issue of O, published by the Associated Press

”I’m embarrassed,” she writes. ”I can’t believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I’m still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, `How did I let this happen again?’ "

Winfrey also says it’s not just about being thin, that now she wants to be fit and healthy. However fitting into a dress for President-elect Barack Obama’s inaugural ball next month is also on her mind.

”I had a dress on the vision board, but I’m not sure that’s gonna fit,” she confesses. ”So I have to work on something else.”

Oprah, who has worked hard to help others attain their hopes and dreams, seems to be taking her weight loss failure straight to the heart.

”I definitely wasn’t setting an example,” she writes. ”I was talking the talk, but I wasn’t walking the walk. And that was very disappointing to me.”

Getting Fit with Josie Maran

January 10th, 2008

One glance at Josie Maran and you’re left with the image of a tall, thin, athletic woman. But looks can be decieving. On Dancing with the Stars, Josie’s partner, Alec Mazo, called her “deceptively unfit,” and a nation of viewers simply couldn’t understand that although she was skinny, she wasn’t necessarily in top shape.

Fitness Magazine set out to change that with a 30-day fitness makeover. With the help of a trainer and a nutritionist, Josie, 29, was quickly on her way toward healthier living. “Before, it was crash and burn, high and low,” she tells the magazine, on stands January 15. “It’s not like I had no energy, it just was really inconsistent. Now, I feel very even throughout the day.”

Fitness guru Michelle Austin and nutritionist Ashley Koff, who had Josie working out 30 to 40 minutes every other day and eating every three hours, helped Josie strive for her goal of getting toned without dropping weight. The results, Josie says, were amazing. “I still wear the same size jeans!” she jokes. Three weeks into her makeover, Josie reveals that she can feel her “pelvic wall getting really strong. I feel stronger in my core than I ever have, especially since I had my daughter, Rumi Joon, 18 months ago.”

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and actress adds that despite her profession—or perhaps because of it—she ultimately underwent the makeover for herself. “In my business, if you look good, no one is going to be checking up on whether you work out,” she says. “So it’s up to me.”
