Brit’s Ex to Stand Trial in Hit-and-Run

May 4th, 2009

While he’s out of Britney Spears‘ (non pink) hair these days, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib is still finding ways to stir up trouble. Brit’s sometime ex-boyfriend will appear for a preliminary hearing May 18 to set a trial date in the case involving a process server he allegedly hit with his car, TMZ reports.

He’s been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery and felony hit-and-run charges in the incident. Ram Mastowtiz, the process server who says Adnan hit him, also was granted a temporary restraining order. Britney and her consveratorship already have one of those protecting them from Adnan.

Adnan’s attorney requested pictures from a security camera that took photos of the alleged crime scene, ostensibly to try and help his client prove his innocence.

Ty Pennington Offers $10k To Catch Hit-and-Run Driver

January 22nd, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

The multi-talented Ty Pennington has just added ‘fighting for justice’ to his list of skills.

The celebrity carpenter and host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a hit-and-run driver.

Daniel Seeck, an attourney who is a cousin of Ty’s co-manager Bill Stankey, was riding his bicycle on Jan 17 sometime between 12.10am and 12.25am when he was hit by a vehicle at the corner of Arizona and 20th streets in Santa Monica.

A red SUV was seen in the area immediately after the crash, according to a statement from Ty’s rep, released today.

Seeck is now on life support at UCLA Medical Center, and Ty has put up the cash to help catch the driver.

Ty says he wants anyone with info to call SMPD Investigator Chris Dawson at 310-458-8427 or WE TIP at 1-800-782-7463.

Perhaps Ty sees this as a way to make up for his own driving transgressions.

He was convicted for a DUI after he was pulled over in LA in 2007.

“This was my wake-up call,” Pennington said at the time.

Britney’s Hit and Run Charge Dismissed

October 25th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Britney Spears is in the legal clear… at least for one of the charges against her. Though she did not attend the hearing, her lawyer, J. Michael Flanagan, was in the Van Nuys, Calif., court on Thursday as the misdeameanor hit-and-run charge against the troubled pop star was dismissed. Britney and the owner of the car she hit reportedly reached a settlement, with the singer paying $1,000 and rental fee costs.

But Brit still has her share of legal matters before her. The singer is next due in court on Nov. 26 to learn her fate on charges of driving without a valid California license, to which she plead not guilty as well.

Britney: From One Mess to Another

October 19th, 2007

Late Thursday evening, things seemed to be going okay for Britney Spears. It appeared that she was going to be getting back the visitation rights that were suspended earlier in the day, and her attorney in the ongoing hit-and-run case confirmed to OK! that, while criminal charges are still to be dealt with, the pop star had reached a civil agreement with the car’s owner for “around $1,000.”

That’s when things started to go haywire. As Brit exited a Los Angeles-area medical building Thursday evening, she reportedly ran over the foot of an awaiting photographer. Accordimg to video shot on the scene, Brit covered her mouth in shock after the alleged incident, but did not stop her car. Others on the scene say the photographer appeared to not require any immediate medical attention.

As of Friday morning, no police report had been filed. However, Brit is due back in court Monday to deal with the criminal charges relating to the Aug. 6 parking lot hit-and-run incident.

Inside Britney’s Booking

October 16th, 2007

When Britney Spears showed up at the Van Nuys County Jail at 9:25 p.m. on Monday night, many wondered why she chose such an odd time to surrender herself. But in an interview with CelebTV.com, Brit’s lawyer Michael Flanagan tries to explain it all.

Even though she was supposed to have turned herself in to police by 4 p.m. PST Monday, Flanagan explains, “I went into the station earlier yesterday, met with the watch commander and asked him to deviate from that time period in order to avoid a media circus.”

Another reason for the later hour? Brit’s ongoing (and frequently cancelled) auditions for dancers for her upcoming tour. Of course, Britney was yet again a no-show at yesterday’s audition.

So what’s next, “The judge ordered today in court that Britney must go to any L.A. police station for fingerprints and mug shots before Oct. 25,” Flanagan tells CelebTV.com. “She will do that, but I don’t know when.”

Just like Britney to keep us all (even her lawyer) guessing.

Britney’s Attorney Speaks About Her Hit and Run

October 10th, 2007

Britney sure is battling a lot these days. And, Celebtv.com has an exclusive with the former pop princess regarding her hit and run.

Michael J. Flanagan, her lawyer, tells CelebTV.com, “I spoke with Britney and
this is the least of her worries. This is a little aggravation, a
pimple on her a** she is trying to get rid of.”

But the hit and run’s victim, Kim Robard-Rifkin, tells the site: “This is so silly. I think that is probably what she [Britney Spears]
feels. Everything is a little pimple on her tush. Driving drunk is an
aggravation. Taking drugs is an aggravation.”

“I think he lives in the same world she does. I do not know where he
got that idea. I do not live in that world. An apology, a fair price to
have the car fixed. Yes, and an ‘I’m sorry’ and a little respect,” she added.

On Tuesday Britney was ordered to be booked for the crime, which means that we may see a Britney mugshot before her next court date on Oct. 25.

Her lawyer said, “This was not the crime of the century… they want something more out
of this than what is appropriate. Tell me what she thinks she deserves.
Britney would paint her whole G*damn car if they want. We just want to
put this case behind us.”
