modern bride 25 trendsetters 110509As a busy mom of four married to an ex-NFL player, Holly Robinson Peete takes her free time when she can get it – in the morning.

“You have to force yourself up in the morning before the house wakes up,” the actress, 45, who is a celebrity friend to Ronald McDonald House Charities, tells me. “Once everybody gets up and the sun rises and things get going, my timeframe shrinks. The only time for me to get a real workout in is somewhere between 5 and 6. That’s not always easy, but it’s the best time.”

Mommas Love Obama!

November 5th, 2008

Nobody could deny that Barack Obama’s victory was a incredible moment in history. But it will have had a special meaning for many African Americans, and for many mothers whose babies will be the first to grow up in an age when a black person can be president of the United States.

After the results were announced last night momlogic.com, a Web site for parents, spoke to some African American celebrity moms who can’t wait for the new administration to get the keys to the White House.

21 Jump Street star and mom of four, Holly Robinson Peete, told the site,"Tonight America grew up enough to kick the race obstacle out of our way to progress.

"I so wish Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Barack’s grandma, my Aunt Sheila, my dad and so many others could be here to witness this transformation towards a more perfect union," she said.

Another Hollywood mom, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, says the result has filled her with life already. "I woke up this morning with an electric energy going through me," the NYPD Blue star told the site, "I can’t explain this feeling except to say I knew something special was about to happen. I knew history would be made today."

Lisa Nichols, teacher of self-help phenomenon, The Secret and mom of one, said, "Tonight I asked my thirteen year-old son, Jelani, what did Barack Obama’s win mean to him and he responded, "Mom, you’ve always told me that I can be anything, but now I have real evidence in Barack Obama."

Meanwhile, TV host and wife of Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker, Keisha Whitaker, said: "If I could put a label on this occasion, it would be: ‘Life is endless possibilities!’"

Holly Robinson Peete Pays Tribute to Donda West

November 15th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Among those paying their respects to Kanye West’s late
mother, Donda West, who passed away last week, is actress Holly Robinson Peete,
a close friend of the former college professor.

“Donda was one of those women that walked in a room and just
lit it up… just a mega-kilowatt smile,” Holly tells MomLogic.com about her fellow
mom and author.

The two met in 2005 at a music industry event and continued
to keep in touch after forging what Holly says was an “instant connection.”

“Immediately I was drawn to her as someone who was just so
magnetically special,” the 43-year-old recalls, adding that she’s going to miss everything about Donda.

“I’m going to miss her. I’m going to miss her smile. I’m
going to miss her integrity… and I’m going to miss seeing her and Kanye
together.”

Donda passed away at the age of 58 on Saturday from complications following a
plastic surgery procedure.
