Anna Nicole’s Pal Says Stern “Took Advantage” Of Her

May 13th, 2009

On the day that Anna Nicole Smith’s ex boyfriend appeared in court charged with contributing to her death, a friend of the former Playboy model told OK! that he "took advantage of her".

A fellow Playmate of the Year and one-time pal of Anna’s, Victoria Silverstedt, said that the reality show Anna and Howard K. Stern appeared in together may have been the catalyst that lead to the collapse of her life.

Victoria, who now stars in her own reality show, The Perfect Life, says that she intentionally avoided making a show like The Anna Nicole Show, which aired on E! in 2002, five years before Anna died from a drug overdose.

"That was my guide lines — not to go that way," said the Swedish pin-up.

"I don’t know if it was that show that really got [Anna Nicole] more and more messed her up — because there was the fame, and Howard and everyone were taking advantage of her," added Victoria.

"It was a disaster."

Victoria’s own show follows her ultra glamorous life as she flits around the world from New York and LA, to London, Paris and Rome via her home in Monaco and the village where she grew up in northern Sweden, as she goes to celebrity parties, hosts TV shows and looks for love.

"I just wanted it be light-hearted, fun, easy to watch," Victoria told us. "I’m not trying to prove anything to anyone, I’m just doing my thing, enjoying having a good life, but not taking life too seriously.

"I really wanted to be careful not to go along that line [like the Anna Nicole Show]."

Howard K. Stern in Trouble with the Authorities

March 12th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

We (and probably you) thought we’d heard the last of Howard K. Stern. But alas, on Thursday night, the former lawyer and lover to the late Anna Nicole Smith is expected to turn himself in–along with two other doctors–for allegedly conspiring to fuel an addict (Smith) with prescription drugs.

TMZ is reporting that Stern, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich are being charged with a total of 8 felonies. According to the L.A. County D.A., the conspiracy counts allege that the 3 defendants conspired to give controlled substances to Anna Nicole from between July, 2004 and January of 2007.

California drug officials recently raided the Los Angeles office of Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, looking for evidence against Stern. Stern has denied doing anything illegal in connection with drugs and Anna Nicole.

Rumor Mill: Did Ashton Steal His Show From Anna Nicole?

March 12th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

E! seems to be trying to clear up any rumors that it’s newest show Pop Fiction wasn’t an original idea from professional pranker Ashton Kutcher, but that it was, in fact, stolen from none other than,, Anna Nicole Smith.

It’s been reported that over three years ago, Anna Nicole and her crew, including Howard K. Stern, pitched the show to E! and even registered the idea with the Writer’s Guild. E! ultimately decided the show wouldn’t work.

Cut to Pop Fictions’s premiere this past Sunday. The show’s concept, which uses celebs to make up fake news items to see if the media will run them, is almost identical to the one that Anna Nicole came up with. Today E! released a statement to OK! maintaining that the show is all original to Ashton.

They said, "Pop Fiction is a program independently created and developed by Ashton Kutcher’s company, Katalyst. Pop Fiction is not based on any idea or concept that may have been pitched to E! by any other party."

There’s rumors of a lawsuit being filed by Howard K. Stern. Stay tuned to see what happens next. Or, maybe we’re just all getting punk’d!

Howard K. Stern Wants Anna Nicole’s Money

October 23rd, 2007 / Author: OK! Staff

Several months after the death of Anna Nicole Smith, the drama surrounding the late Guess model still continues to swirl. In the latest development, Anna’s one-time lawyer and common-law hubby Howard K. Stern has filed a claim against her estate asking for 6% of any money the estate might inherit from Anna’s late husband, oil tycoon Howard Marshall.

According to documents obtained by CelebTV.com, Howard’s claim involves a purported existing agreement between Anna and Stern regarding claims against the Marshall estate. “A contingent fee agreement on file with the Bankruptcy Court and incorporated by this reference pertaining to the Marshall litigation, payment of which is conditioned upon recovery in the Marshall litigation, and the amount will be six percent (6%) of the Estate’s net recovery, if any,” the papers read.

Stern also recently filed paperwork asking the court to name one-year-old Dannielynn as the sole beneficiary of the late beauty’s estate.

Howard K. Stern: Gay Allegations “Totally Absurd”

September 12th, 2007

In the media maelstrom surrounding Rita Cosby’s book Blonde Ambition, which alleges that Larry Birkhead and Howard K. Stern were caught canoodling, Stern has remained quiet while Birkhead has been very vocal in his denials… Until now. “Most of these witnesses, or, you can’t even call them witnesses, but sources to Rita Cosby’s book, they were doing media after media interview after Anna passed away and they took every shot at me that their imaginations could possibly dream up,” Anna Nicole Smith’s former lawyer and sort-of-husband explained to Entertainment Tonight. “And all of a sudden, the same people are coming back and they’re saying, ‘Oh by the way, I forgot… Howard and Larry are gay and there’s a video of them together.’ It’s ridiculous. I mean it’s absolutely absurd.” For a complete look at the first year of Anna Nicole’s daughter Dannielynn, check out the new issue of OK!, on stands everywhere Thursday.

Inside Dannielynn’s First Birthday

September 9th, 2007

One year ago, in virtual anonymity in the Bahamas, Anna Nicole Smith experienced the greatest and worst days of her life in less than a single week. First, on Sept. 7, she welcomed a baby girl into the world. And then, three days later, she lost her son, Daniel, to a mysterious cocktail of narcotics in the same hospital room. What followed was a media whirlwind that could never have been imagined, including a quickie quasi-marriage to attorney/advisor Howard K. Stern and, ultimately, Anna’s tragic death on Feb. 8, 2007, which only seemed to stir the tempest further as Howard battled Anna’s mother and her one-time boyfriend Larry Birkhead for custody of Dannielynn.

What seemed to be lost in all of this to-do was the little motherless girl, who never asked for her name to become a media buzzword, who never held a press conference to discuss her talking points, who will never get the chance to talk to her mother about boys or clothes or school. In Dannielynn’s first year, she’s experienced more bad news than many people get in a lifetime.

With that in mind, Dannielynn’s first birthday, held at the Louisville, Ken., home of socialite Tricia Barnstable, was a fairy-tale affair, complete with pink balloons, a castle and a white carriage. Guests carrying huge stuffed animals walked through the front yard of the home where a hot-air balloon decorated as a birthday cake was tethered.

But perhaps the most-important thing for friends and admirers of little Dannielynn to give her this weekend is their prayers… that she’ll live a happy life… that she’ll be able to someday step out of the shadow of the scandal surrounding her birth… that she’ll grow to know and cherish her mother’s memory.
