Howard Stern Tries “Shock” Therapy

April 11th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

To Beth Ostrosky-Stern, her sixth months of marriage to Howard Stern have been a whirlwind of "marital bliss."

"He’s the perfect husband," she told OK! at a recent party to celebrate the launch of America’s first TopShop store.

"It’s the best thing in the world. I didn’t think [our relationship] could get better, but it did."

There is one issue, though. She has recently found herself trapped between a snoring man and a snoring bulldog!

"Since we’ve got married, [Howard has] been snoring.

"I’m having a huge problem."

And, of course, Howard’s trying to solve it the way that only a radio host would.

"I’ve recorded him the last couple of nights and he’s been playing it on air. And I’m thinking that psychologically, if he hears it, he’s going to stop."

(Is that what you call shock-jock therapy?)

"But it didn’t stop. So I bought the wax earplugs today. Because I go in the other room and I have a bulldog who snores just as loud as Howard. I need to build another bedroom," laughed the model.

And what of the store that she was at the Balthazar restaurant in New York that night to celebrate?

"I’m a big TopShop fan, it’s going to do so well — it’s brilliant to bring it over."

How Stars Spend Super Bowl Sunday

February 1st, 2009

Celebrities love the Super Bowl.

Inkheart star Brendan Fraser tells me he can’t get enough “buffalo wings and suds” while Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively calls out “nachos and hot dogs” as her favorite indulgences during the big game.

This will be Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel’s first Super Bowl. Will he watch? “I guess I will, if you want me to,” he tells me. What will he eat? “I love my popcorn, and a good hot dog,” he tells me. “A big, fat, juicy hot dog because I’m a slumdog. Oh, that was bad.”

How will Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stern spend the big day?

“I will get out my Terrible Towel, and that’s something a Pittsburgher would know,” Beth Ostrosky Stern tells me. “It’s a Pittsburgh thing. It’s towel that has the Pittsburgh Steelers on it. In 1981, we were all waving our Terrible Towels. Howard and I will be watching it up on the big TV, and I’ll probably make turkey chili.”

America’s Next Top Model
judge Nigel Barker won’t be tuning in to watch the big game. “I don’t watch the Super Bowl,” he tells me. “I’m an Englishman. I’m a soccer fan.”

However, Gone Country star Justin Guarini will be watching. “My favorite Super Bowl snack is either a Philly cheese steak, if I can get my hands on one, or a nice Philly pretzel with mustard – French’s mustard,” the season one American Idol runner-up tells me. “It’s a little piece of home because I travel so much. I’ll take every little piece of home I can get.”

Fellow Gone Country star Richard Grieco will order pizza. “It came from it was easy to do back when we were kids, and it’s always been my favorite since then.”

What are his Super Bowl traditions?

“Well, I usually go for one thing, but if I don’t go, I usually watch it by myself because I don’t want any outside interference when I’m concentrating on the game,” Richard says.

Of course, Super Bowl Sunday is a big day for the former 21 Jump Street star. “I watch football every Thursday night, every Saturday, every Sunday, every Monday night. Then I watch NFL Network when I go to sleep, or ESPN when I go to sleep.”

Their Gone Country costar Taylor Dayne adds, “I’ll lay out a table and make sure we have some beer in the house. There’s been everything from nachos to tons and tons.”

Ciara
says, “I look forward to inviting some friends and just sitting down and watching the game.”

Does Saturday Night Live star – and Bride Wars writer – Casey Wilson have any traditions?

“Oh man, I don’t. Yeah, sadly. It sounds like a dumb girl – yeah, I don’t know anything about football. But the truth of that matter is I don’t.”

Keyshia Cole seconds that thought. “I am not into football. Usually I might take my dogs Lyric, Lola and Gizmo to get groomed  … or maybe clean up.”

Cassie
is more traditional. “I’m usually at home with my family eating junk food,” she tells me.

Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday, everyone!

Beth Ostrosky Stern Puts Dogs On Parade

January 14th, 2009

Beth Ostrosky Stern emcees the dog parade during the Year of the Mutt-i-gree event that takes place Tuesday at NYC’s Algonquin Hotel.

The blonde beauty married to Howard Stern rattles off their best qualities such as a “sparkling personality” while pups representing January-December are walked around the room. Later, they’ll be carted back to North Shore Animal League to await adoption.

Finding homes for these cuddly critters is a cause close to Beth’s heart. She raised more than $295,000 for the North Shore Animal League by running in the NYC Marathon last year.

“It’s my passion,” the 36-year-old animal lover tells me. “What’s so great with North Shore is the turnaround is so quick. The puppies I’ll see today — hopefully I’ll never see them again, knock on wood. But there’s an adult dog area where I know a lot of the dogs who have been there for a while because a lot of people don’t want adult dogs. So I do know a lot of them by name. I love going there and I love just giving them kisses because I think they’re missing them.”

Why should we adopt a shelter pet?

“There are so many unwanted dogs out there, and once you adopt from a shelter that will hopefully reduce the euthanasia. These puppy mills are horrific. It’s totally for-profit breeding. It’s despicable.”

Beth and Howard’s bulldog, Bianca Romijn-Stamos-O’Connell, certainly leads a pampered life.

“She’s spoiled every second of the day,” Beth gushes. “I give her peanut butter every morning with her one pill that she doesn’t like. I douse it in peanut butter. Probably not the best thing to do with your fat bulldog, but she definitely likes it.”

Law and Order: Criminal Intent star Kathryn Erbe, who is the American Mutt-i-grees spokesperson, brings her mutt-i-gree Lilah to the event. Lilah came from North Shore Animal League last year, and now lives with Kathryn, 43, her daughter Maeve, 13, and son Carson, 5.

Lilah changed the whole dynamic of the family,” Kathryn tells me. “It brings everyone together. She’s this force of love who does not judge, does not get mad … she just walks around and loves all of us. And when my kids are crying, she immediately goes to them. If they’re hurt, she immediately goes to the area where they’re hurt. She’s an incredibly empathetic being.”

Dogs are ideal for kids of any age, depending on the breed, the actress who divorced in 2006 admits.

“It’s good for kids to grow up around dogs,” she says. “A couple of my son’s friends are terrified of dogs because they’ve had bad experiences with dogs. If they grow up around a puppy or an older dog, I think it’s good for them.”

What does she love about being a mom?

“Being a mom has made me just a better person in every way. I’m much less self-centered. My heart grows every day through struggling and love of my kids. It helps balance everything else – the work and the world. It helps keep me grounded and in perspective of what is really meaningful to me. It helps me be conscious of the way that I conduct myself in my relationships and in the world.”

How does being a mom influence the men she dates post-divorce?

“I’m pretty careful about who I associate myself with,” she cautions.

Ooh! Gift bag time. We get icing-covered dog bones from the Beggin’ Beagle Bakery, a burgundy American Mutt-i-grees Club hat and t-shirt that says “Mutt-i-grees Rule!”

Video: Pete in the Doghouse with Ashlee

December 23rd, 2008

Less than a week after Pete Wentz went on Howard Stern’s radio show and blabbed about his sex life with wife Ashlee Simpson, the new dad decided to share more of his personal life with fans, revealing that Simpson was none too pleased at his loose talk.

During a recent Fall Out Boy show, Wentz told concert goers that Ashlee gave him quite the lashing for publically dishing on their sex life, informing him, "I’m going to pay you back a**hole".

A brief recap: Pete told Howard Stern that the first time he and Ashley had sex, "It was the single best sexual encounter I’ve ever had. We were in the Soho Grand Hotel, and there was a mirror, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, you’re banging the girl of your dreams and you’re watching it right now.’ "

He also revealed that Ashley loves to give lapdances and, in another interview on Monday, revealed that he has tasted her breast milk, describing it as "soury" and "weird."

Jennifer Aniston Gives Up Spotlight

December 18th, 2008

Jennifer Aniston lets her Marley and Me dog Clyde shine during the Tribeca Cinema Series screening of her comedy held Wednesday at Tribeca Cinemas Gallery in NYC.

While she’s off hitting the talk-show circuit, Clyde is being feted with congratulatory barks when he takes the screen during the V.I.P. (Very Important Pooch) event attended by celebs including Denis Leary and Beth Ostrosky Stern and their dogs. (Abigail Breslin stops by the cocktail party sans pup.)

Clyde’s trainer, Mathilde DeCagny, says working with Jennifer was a dream.

Jen was loving, and very attentive,” she tells me. “She’s such a normal, sweet, fun person. There’s no ego, there’s no complication. All she wants to do is be professional and do it right. I never thought she would be that easy and outgoing. We loved her.”

Other pampered pets – like Denis’ dog Daphne – are pleased to be in the company of the movie star pooch.

“She’s flipped out that we brought her where there are other dogs, because she likes to think of herself as special,” Denis tells me. He’s keeping a tight grip on Daphne thanks to help from wife Ann.

The comedian has no regrets for 2008 – even though he inflamed parents with particularly vile comments he made about autism in his book Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid. “I would’ve voted for Obama about ten more times if I could have,” he tells me. “That’s about it.”

This holiday season the Rescue Me star jokes that he will gift his three dogs with cars and designer clothing in exchange for the affection they give him.

“Dogs love you no matter what you smell like, no matter how tired you are, or where you just came from,” Denis says. “No matter what mood you’re in or what’s going on, they always love you. You can’t pay a human being to do that – maybe for an hour, but not much longer than that.”

Mrs. Stern moves along with bulldog Bianca Romijn-Stamos-O’Connell, who recently came home with a pink toe when she brought her along to a manicure appointment. “Howard wasn’t too happy about that,” Beth says.

What’s her dog’s idea of a perfect night?

“Lying in her bed between Howard and me,” she tells me. “She’s so happy right between the two of us.”

For the holiday season, Beth tells me the best pet gift is “lots of love.”

Certainly Jennifer would agree.

Marley and Me is in theaters December 25.

And, pick up the OK! on newsstands now for more on Jennifer Aniston and an At Home with Clyde, the dog featured in Marley and Me. Jennifer Aniston/“Obsessed With Angie” is the cover line.

Looking for a great gift this holiday season? Both Denis Leary and Beth Ostrosky Stern agree that pets make great gifts. Visit your local shelter to give one a home.

Pete Wentz: Ashlee is the Ultimate

December 16th, 2008

If your wife makes you promise not to say "anything crummy" about her while you’re being interviewed by Howard Stern, she probably also means, "Don’t dish on our sex life." Too late for Ashlee Simpson, however, as her hubby Pete Wentz offered up a plethora of personal info on the shock jock’s Sirius/XM show this morning.

"We have an amazing sex life," he says of his blushing bride and new mother to Bronx Mowgli. "Texas girls are fun."

Speaking of fun, Pete goes into even more detail about the couples’ intimate moments, including the first time they hooked up.

"It was the single best sexual encounter I’ve ever had," he admits. "We were in the Soho Grand Hotel, and there was a mirror, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, you’re banging the girl of your dreams and you’re watching it right now.’ "

As for past conquests, including Michelle Trachtenberg, Pete tried to rein himself in.

"My wife will murder me if I go on the scale," he said when asked to rate Michelle’s bedroom skills. "I will say that Michelle was a blast. My wife is the ultimate, though."

Aww, how cute?

One bundle of joy that resulted from the couples’ apparently healthy sex life is Bronx, pictures of whom Pete and Ashlee won’t be selling off anytime soon.

"At this point, it was not the right decision for us to go out and pimp our baby in that way," he says. "That’s not to say that the world’s not going to see the baby… or fans aren’t going to see the baby, but he’s not a commodity."
