Taylor Lautner’s Got New Moon Fever

Now that it’s been confirmed that Taylor Lautner will be reprising his role as Jacob Black in New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, the actor is happy to tell OK! just how excited he is!
"I’m just really excited to get back to it really!" the young star tells OK!. "I’m so excited and appreciate all the support from my fans and I think Catherine Hardwicke did an amazing job on Twilight. I’m a fan of Chris Weitz and his work too so I can’t wait to work with him as well."
In New Moon, the character of Jacob undergoes a major physical tranformation.
Lautner, who’s put on 26 pounds since Twilight, says he’s training regularly.
"I was always training no matter what the outcome was," he says, referring to the rumors that he wasn’t continuing on to the sequel. "I’m glad I get to grow with the role, it’s a great job to have and a great project to work on. I just want to keep pleasing the fans."
And about all that drama — an industry insider tells OK! it wasn’t as drastic as it seemed. "Despite what’s out there, there was never any drama. It was really blown out of proportion — but it seems like fans enjoy Taylor because it made them pretty upset to think he’d be away from the next chapter!"

Taylor Lautner to Play Jacob in New Moon

It looks like Twilight’s Taylor Lautner will reprise his role as Jacob Black in the film’s sequel, New Moon.
Twilight author Stephenie Meyer confirmed the news on Wednesday, posting the following statement from New Moon director Chris Weitz on her official Web Site:
"I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.
The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part.
I think that fans of Twilight, the book and the movie, will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

Twilight’s Taylor Lautner: In or Out?

Amid swirling reports that Twilight star Taylor Lautner has been replaced in the upcoming sequel, it seems the actor may still reprise his role as Jacob Black.
In an interview with Extra, Lautner says he plans to meet with New Moon director, Chris Weitz.
"I’m meeting with [Weitz] in two days, so I’m very excited," Lautner said at Wednesday night’s Golden Globes’ Young Hollywood party.
So does this mean the actor will be returning in the second film? "Nothing’s official yet for anybody except for Chris Weitz," Lautner said.
As for Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke’s departure, Lautner says, "I got along with Catherine so well. [But] I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about Chris Weitz…I know he’s very talented, so I can assure the fans that they’ll be very pleased with him."
No matter what happens next, Lautner says he’s ready to reprise his role as Jacob in New Moon. "I’ve been preparing for that quite a while," he said. "I’ve been preparing since the day I finished Twilight. I’m most definitely ready."
