Jack Tweed Gets Less Jail Time

April 14th, 2009

A grieving Jack Tweed, who lost his wife Jade Goody last month to cancer, will have to spend some of his mourning time in jail.

A judge at the Harlow Magistrates’ Court in London handed down his sentence today, 12 weeks for assaulting a taxi driver, according to Ireland’s RTE. But it could’ve been worse, bench chairwoman Margaret Webb explains.

"We have borne in mind the recent change in your personal circumstances and have reflected this in the length of the sentence, which would otherwise have been 18 weeks," she said.

Jack, who attacked and threatened to stab taxi driver Stephen Wilkins last May after a night out, will also have to pay prosecution costs and other damages to the driver.

T.I. To Do 1 Year of T.I.M.E.

March 27th, 2009

T.I. has been sentenced to one year and one day in jail.

The Paper Trail rapper could have been given up to ten years for trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers in 2007.

But he struck a plea deal, agreeing to complete 1,000 hours of community service before sentencing, pay a $100,000 fine, then do another 500 hours of community service after his release.

As part of his community service, he made appearances to talk to school kids about violence, and appeared in his MTV show, T.I’s Road To Redemption.

That extra day, in addition to the year, is believed to have been added to stop him having to serve his full term: if he had been sentenced to less than a year, he would automatically have been forced to complete the entire term.

But this way his spell inside can be reduced for good behaviour.

"Today I would like to say thank you to some, and apologize to all," the rapper said, according to E! Online.

The site reports that he has to turn himself into prison within the next 30 to 60 days, but is not expected do so before May 19.

T.I recently told OK! that he doesn’t think his career is going to have to be put on hold altoghether while he’s in prison.

"I’m still going to be able to make things happen," he said. "From where I am I’ll still be able to pull strings, call shots, put things in order that need to be put in order for his success to bring itself forth."

Boy George Gets 15 Months In Jail

January 16th, 2009

British 80s pop star Boy George has been jailed for 15 months for a nasty little incident in which he tied up a male prostitute and beating him with a chain.

A judge in England said he had no choice but to jail the Karma Chameleon singer for "falsely imprisoning" Norwegian escort Audun Carlsen in April 2007.

Sentencing the star this morning, Judge David Radford called the act "shocking and degrading" and "so serious that only an immediate sentence of imprisonment can be justified," according to E! Online.

"In my view there can be no doubt that your premeditated, callous and humiliating handcuffing and detention of Mr. Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatized him," added the judge at Snaresbrook court.

"He was deprived of his liberty and his human dignity without warning or proper explanation to him of its purpose, length or purported justification." Boy George, whose real name is George O’Dowd, had pleaded not guilty, but was convicted last month.

Man Jailed for Offering Winehouse Drugs

December 12th, 2008

A judge has sentenced a man to jail for reportedly selling newspaper footage showing Amy Winehouse doing drugs.

On Friday, Johnny Blagrove, 34, and his girlfriend Cara Burton, 22, admitted to offering to supply the Grammy-winning singer and other celebs drugs, including cocaine and ecstasy.

Blagrove was sentenced to two years. Burton has to perform two years of community service.

Prosecutors say the pair covertly filmed Winehouse at a party and sold the footage to Britain’s The Sun newspaper for 50,000 pounds ($75,000). In January the paper published the images, which appeared to show the singer smoking crack cocaine and snorting a substance from a card.

Detectives decided there was not enough evidence to charge Winehouse because it could not be proved what the substances were. But they charged the couple with offering to supply drugs.

Police who raided Blagrove and Burton’s home found a list of celebrities they planned to film taking drugs, including Winehouse. The judge said there was no evidence they actually sold the singer drugs — a fact that saved them from longer sentences.

”Notwithstanding what is clearly visible in the video, there is no evidence of drugs being supplied or even used,” he said.

OJ Sentenced To 15 Years

December 5th, 2008

OJ Simpson is finally going to jail.

The former football star — who escaped prison after he was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife — has been sentenced to 15 years for armed robbery.

According to MSNBC.com, a Nevada judge told OJ today that he wouldn’t be allowed bail pending an appeal, and that he would only be eligible for parole in six years.

Judge Jackie Glass said that he deserved to do time for being the "ring leader" of an armed robbery in 2007, which OJ claimed was just an attempt to get back family momentos.

Minutes before the sentencing, OJ — who was found guilty on Oct. 3 — claimed that when he held up memorabila collectors at the Palace Station hotel and casino in Las Vegas, he just wanted to re-claim his daughters wedding ring and photographs that he felt belonged to his son.

"I just wanted my personal things. I was stupid. I’m sorry. I didn’t know I was doing anything illegal," he told the court, his voice shaking.

"I thought I was confronting friends. I thought I was retrieving my things. I didn’t mean to hurt anybody and I didn’t mean to steal anything."

But, according to the site, Judge Jackie Glass said: "You can’t take back your own property by force. This is not behavior we can say this is OK, don’t worry."

"You went to the room, you took guns, you used force, you took property," she went on, "whether it was yours or someone else’s, and in this state that amounts to armed robbery."

He was found not guilty of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.

His co-defendant, C.J. Stewart, who helped him with the robbery has yet to be sentenced.

Wino’s Blake Heads Back to Jail

December 3rd, 2008

Will these two never learn? Troubled popstar Amy Winehouse will have more sad material to sing about, as her beloved husband Blake Fielder-Civil has reportedly returned to jail.

The music video assistant had been released to a rehab facility a month ago after serving time for assaulting a man and then interfering in the case. Britain’s Daily Mail reports that the 26-year-old had returned to drug, which would result in him serving the rest of his original sentence.

"If he had stayed in prison rather than taking the rehab option he was set to be released at the end of the month. He’s blown it," the article quotes a source as saying.

The source also says Blake rushed to vist Amy in the hospital when he found out he was headed back to the slammer, and begged her to forgive him.

Ah, young love!

Anne’s Ex-Boyfriend Headed to Prison

October 23rd, 2008

Anne Hathaway must be thanking her lucky stars she tossed ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri to the curb when she did. On Thursday, a court sentenced the Italian businessman to four and a half years in prison for fraud.

Follieri, 30, pleaded guilty in September to fraudulently obtaining $2.4 million by misleading investors to believe he had Vatican connections that enabled him to buy the Roman Catholic Church’s unwanted U.S. properties at a discount.

Follieri and Hathaway dated for four years. They split in June amid reports that Raffaello was being investigated by the New York State Attorney General’s office.

The Devil Wears Prada star admitted to being shocked by the scandal, telling W Magazine she felt like "a rug was pulled out from under me" when Follieri was arrested in June.

Nick Hogan Out of Jail

October 21st, 2008

After spending six months in the slammer for reckless driving, Nick Bollea, aka Nick Hogan, was released from Pinellas County Jail in Florida early this morning.

Hulk Hogan’s son was behind the wheel in August 2007 and allegedly racing another car, when he crashed the Toyota Supra, severely injuring his friend and passenger, John Graziano. The former Marine wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and will need medical care for the rest of his life.

Nick was set free for good behavior, and ran right into the arms of sister Brooke Hogan, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Mom Linda Bollea, who is in the middle of a bitter divorce from Hulk, released a statement on Tuesday morning to ask that the media respect the family’s privacy, saying:

"This is our time as a family to come together to support Nick’s adjustment back into the public life, keeping it as normal as possible. Neither Nick, nor we as a family, has any interest in making this anything but private. We respect the media’s role and only ask that they respect our privacy. Nick went into prison as a juvenile and has experienced something that will mold and affect him for the rest of his adult life. His focus is to make a positive difference in this world, media-free. Since his future actions will speak louder than any words, there is no need to speak to the media at this time."

Kourtney Talks About Khloe’s Jail Time

July 16th, 2008

With Khloe Kardashian days away from a three-day stint in jail for violating probation, her sister Kourtney Kardashian is voicing her opinion on the situation.

On the red carpet at the 2008 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, she told OK! how Khloe and the family are holding up.

"She’s a really strong girl," Kourtney tells OK!. "I think she’s devastated because she’s a good girl. She doesn’t normally get into a lot of trouble. But she’s so strong and she gets through - I think we’ve all been through a lot in the past and we all work through it together. I would be so scared but Khloe is such a strong girl. I think she’s upset but she knows she needs to do that for the mistakes that she has made."

When one of the girls gets in trouble the family always rallies to make it work. But, according to Kourtney, there isn’t just one rock in the Kardashian clan.

"In every situation there is a different one," she says. "We all handle things differently. We’re all strong."

While some may feel a life in front of the cameras may have led to such troubling times as of late, Kourtney feels the show just brings the family closer.

"Definitely," she says. "We are all together every day and we’ve always been really close but it definitely makes us closer since we’re together all the time. It’s so fun for people to see how close we are. That’s the one thing people always love about the show."

Kourtney found herself at the ESPYs as a backup for mom Kris Jenner who bailed on Bruce Jenner (a popular guy at this awards show) last minute. But Kourtney, a red carpet pro, put on a Gucci dress and was ready to go.

"Bruce called me today at 1p.m. and asked me if I could go," she says. "I was working at the store and had to race home. This dress is Khloe’s. We’re not even the same size. I don’t know how it worked out."

A marginal sports fan, Kourtney is looking forward to the show’s host.

"I heard Justin Timberlake is hosting so I’ll have fun staring at him the whole time," she says. "I love Justin. Bruce golfs with him a lot."
