Did Petra Steal Sean Penn?

Sean Penn’s been married to Robin Wright and Madonna, and now he’s set his sights on Petra Nemcova.

When the actor showed up at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar party Feb. 24 squiring the 28-year-old beauty, tongues began to wag. They were also seen at L.A. club Villa the night before.

In December, Sean, 47, announced his split from Robin, 41, his wife of 11 years and the mother of his two children, Dylan, 16, and Hopper, 14.

But the supermodel best known for surviving the Asian tsunami has been dropping hints about the object of her affection since September. (She says he’s on the advisory board of her charity, the Happy Hearts Fund, which helps kids suffering through tragedy.)

During a benefit for Elton’s AIDS Foundation that month, she replied, “my new boy!” when asked “sexiest man alive?” before adding, “I can’t say. He’s international.”

During a fundraising gala for her Happy Hearts Fund held in NYC in October, Petra tells me she brought her sister in lieu of a date.

“My date is not right here right now,” she says. “He’s in Europe.”

Anyone we would know?

“I don’t know who you know,” she giggles.

She makes a shy face and zips her lip when asked if he’s an actor.

Again, who is the sexiest man in Hollywood?

“I would say my man, but in Hollywood… there are many,” she says. “I don’t look at men! That’s the biggest lie I’ve ever told, but whatever.”

Finally, how does she keep her fab figure?

“Stress,” she tells me. “It’s the best way to lose weight.”

Petra was last linked to James Blunt, whom she dated for two years until spring 2007.

Otherwise, I do think Petra’s a nice person. She’s very bubbly and always ready with a fun anecdote.

Like this: “I don’t eat junk food, but I love dried fruits. No cookies, no candy, not for now. On Saturday, I went into the fridge and there was an avocado-salsa thing, and I ate the whole jar. It was a big jar. In the morning, I was like, ‘How come I’m full?’ I went swimming the next day.”

She also tells me she’s obsessed with “life” and her best beauty secret is happiness.

“Be happy and be passionate about what you do, and it radiates through,” Petra says.

Hopefully she wasn’t being passionate about someone else’s husband.

Couples News: Petra Nemcova Picks the High Road

At the NYC premiere of the indie flick The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, supermodel Petra Nemcova couldn’t stop from saying all sorts of great things about her boyfriend — except for who the lucky man is!

The Czech-born beauty, who tragically lost her photographer fiancé Simon Atlee in the 2004 tsunami, has been linked previously to British pop singer James Blunt, though the pair never admitted being a couple.

About all we do know regarding Petra’s newest beau is that there’s a good chance a celebrity and, at least for the moment, he’s residing overseas.

“I am heading out to Europe tomorrow to see him,” the model coyly revealed to OK!, beaming proudly as she thought of her long-distance love.

Maybe I’ll get a guitar and carry it on my back.”

Just Asking

-Why is NY Post columnist Andrea Peyser so venomously mean? Brit’s had a bad day, she’s made some mistakes, ok, a lot, I don’t even contest her temporarily losing custody of her kids, but did Ms. Peyser have to go so low as to say, “pop slut Britney Spears is unfit to raise grass, let alone kids”?

And, during a time she should be mourning loss of said kids, did Britney really need to go out to Nobu last night?

-Why has matronly Martha Stewart gone to every event lately from the 50th Anniversary of The Plaza to Usher’s fragrance launch? She keeps it up she’ll have to be added to the camera-hungry list of celebs that show up for a letter opening.

-Paris Hilton has never been known to shy away from publicity, so why was she sporting a black wig while sucking on lollipops in the VIP area of the James Blunt show in Toronto last night?

The Music Plays On

Tuesday. I went to a fashion-y party for the US launch of a Brazilian clothing line called Colcci. Few of us there had ever heard of the brand, and fewer had any idea how to pronounce it. What attracted everyone to the party was the host, Gisele Bundchen. Gisele stayed perched upstairs on a couch near the DJ. The DJ was Christian Langdon, from Arckid, aka bandmate and brother of Royston Langdon, the former lead singer of Spacehog and current husband of Liv Tyler. He’s cute, and one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He sat next to me at a dinner recently and is the kind of guy who would dramatically fall down in the middle of the street just to get a laugh.

Despite the free cocktails – martinis that were a mix of Pravda vodka, coconut water and lime – and passed food from tuna tartar to sliders, the crowd seemed somewhat bored, myself included. The only other celebrity in attendance was James Blunt who sat in the same spot all night with a friend. It was the day his album, “All the Lost Souls” was released so I asked him the significance of the year 1973, the name of his first single. James said, “I met a very close friend at a club called Pacha in Ibiza and the club was opened in 1973, so I named the song 1973.” A few minutes later, after James left, I thought about his response and realized that he could quite possibly be talking about a friend of mine as well. I met a gorgeous girl in LA, she a friend of a friend, we were all having dinner and James had joined us. He didn’t make any attempt to hide his affection for her. Too bad for him that she had and still has a boyfriend. Later she told me, “We met a while back in Ibiza.” If I’d remembered that then I would have asked if it was about her. I’ve learned that this is called, ‘esprit d’escalier,’ a French expression that translates to ‘the wit of the staircase’, and usually refers to the perfect witty response you think up after the conversation has ended.

Wednesday night: I was invited to a private listening party for the Counting Crows in an intimate studio environment. The band introduced the album and then we read the lyrics as six songs were played. The band’s fifth album, and their first in five years, is set to drop Nov. 6 and is tentatively titled, "Saturday Nights, Sunday Mornings." I hear the first single will be a radio-friendly number called "Cowboy."

 

Thursday: I’m heading to VH1’s Save the Music Gala in five. Jon Bon Jovi and John Mayer are performing!
