DWTS Claims Its Latest Victim

November 7th, 2007 / Author: OK! Staff

While Jane Seymour may be the latest celebrity hoofer to be eliminated from Dancing With the Stars, the actress tells OK! she wasn’t shocked by the results.

“I kind of thought we were going to be leaving,” Jane admitted to OK! after Tuesday’s results show. “I’m thrilled by the run we had. It’s more than I
ever imagined. I don’t think anyone anticipated anyone of my age lasting this long… I’m by far
the oldest woman ever to do this.”

Like many of the show’s contestants, the grueling training and performance schedule has helped get the 56-year-old beauty into great shape, but now Jane tells OK! she might needs to actually put on some weight! “I lost 22 pounds,” Jane confides. “I went from a size 4-6 to less than a zero. I’ve been trying to [gain weight]. I’ve been eating like a horse.”

Jane faced many trials and tribulations during her time on DWTS. On Oct. 1, her 92-year-old mother passed away. A few weeks later, she told OK! she’d had to temporarily flee her Malibu home, which was threatened by the devastating California fires. And last week Jane was rushed to the hospital with food poisoning.

The consummate professional, Jane continued to perform well through it all. “I learned dancing was really important in my life,” Jane says. “It brings me joy, it’s part of who I am, and I need to continue it for the rest of my life in some form.”

With the writers’ strike leaving Jane’s TV acting career up in the air, she plans to pursue her art projects, charity work, and produce movies with her husband, James Keach. And she’ll go off the “healthy living” diet plan she was following while on DWTS. “I cut out all alcohol [but] tonight I shall be drinking a glass of wine!”

Judging Scandal on Dancing With the Stars?

October 30th, 2007 / Author: cwillett

Is age-ism rampant on the Dancing With the Stars judging panel? Well, contestant Marie Osmond tells OK! that the show’s older women might be getting the shaft on the hit ABC show.

“I think they’re trying to get the older chicks off the show, and I say shame on them,” Marie said to OK! after she and fellow over-50 contestant Jane Seymour earned the lowest scores of the night on Monday night. “I mean, come on — compare us to a 20-year-old! We’re doing good! That’s why you appreciate the viewers and their voting.”

Just one week after her shocking on-air collapse, Marie earned just 23 points for her paso doble. Meanwhile, Jane got 22, the lowest score of the night, for her performance of the jive.

While Jane has never cited age discrimination as her problem on the show, she is perplexed about the judging. And her devoted husband, James Keach, who sits in the audience every night, can’t believe what he is seeing. “Her dance deserved a much better score than it got,” James told OK!. “If I gave you my true opinion of the other dancers, I wouldn’t be a popular guy here tonight. I’m very honest.”

Referring to her competitors, All My Children hunk Cameron Mathison and Marie Osmond, James said, “I’m not voting because I watch a soap opera; I’m not voting because I watch the Donny and Marie Show; I’m obviously a little prejudiced towards my wife, but you know what? For the amount of work that she’s done, the ability that she’s given to this and the class that she brings to it, I don’t think there’s any comparison.”

Jane added that she has less dance experience than some of the other competitors. “There are some people here who dance for a living,” she said, in an apparent reference to limber Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan and Spice Girl Mel B., who both are getting ready for concert tours.

Jane Seymour’s Home Threatened By Fire

October 23rd, 2007 / Author: OK! Staff

The devastating fires raging around Malibu caused Jane Seymour to flee her home just hours before performing live on Monday’s Dancing With the Stars.

“I haven’t dared think about it or talk about it ’til now,” Jane, who lives in Malibu with husband James Keach and their twin
sons, confided to OK! after Monday’s dance-off. “It’s scary. The fire is a quarter mile from our home, but if the wind changes, we’re definitely in the direct line. They’ve mandatorily evacuated way past our house. My husband really shouldn’t be there, but he wants to support the fire brigade and he has water pumps and two friends with him. He’s determined to stay there.”

Meanwhile, Jane ran for her life. “I grabbed the kids, threw them in the car. I grabbed a couple of pieces of jewelry, some passports and I ran.”

The elegant British-born beauty confessed to OK! that she’s coping with the stress as best she can. “I’ve been trying to focus and James keeps telling me he will leave if it really gets too frightening. He can escape either into the pool or run down the back of the property into the ocean and as the car is already packed and outside, I have to believe he won’t risk his life. He promised me he wouldn’t.”

Art lover Jane said she could lose priceless memorabilia. “I have costumes and clothing going back to the 17th century. Honestly, I couldn’t begin to take anything out of the house. I looked around and just [thought], if this goes, I really will have lost so much. I can’t even bear thinking about it.”

Incredibly, Jane, whose mother passed away on Oct. 1, was the embodiment of the phrase “the show must go on,” managing to perform a graceful rhumba with partner Tony Dovolani that had the judges comparing her to a professional.
