Jamie Lynn Sigler: Be Happy With Who You Are

February 23rd, 2009

Jamie Lynn Sigler couldn’t be more thrilled with her latest love, Jerry Ferrara, the former Sopranos star tells me at the Rebecca Taylor after-party held at Dream Hotel’s AVA Lounge in NYC.

Jerry’s awesome,” she gushes. “He’s a good boy.”

The couple  — who work together on the HBO hit Entourage – spent Valentine’s Day with her family in L.A.

“It was all a bunch of Cuban people, and we cooked food and played music until, like, 2am,” the actress, who divorced manager AJ Discala in 2006, says. “It was a lot of fun.”

Her family gives the pair their blessing. “There’s not really much to not like about Jerry,” she says. “I’m very happy. Jerry’s a great person. I wouldn’t be with him if he wasn’t.”

Like Jerry, 29, there’s not really much to dislike about Jamie Lynn, 27, either. She stands up for her pal Jessica Simpson’s weight criticism.

“I think that was incredibly unfair,” Jamie Lynn says. “To me, I think she looks great if you look at her. If that’s overweight by someone’s standards, then they’re clearly not thinking straight.”

For Jamie Lynn, who battled anorexia, feeling comfortable in her own skin didn’t come easily. She preaches that weight watchers shouldn’t sweat a few extra pounds.

“I don’t think you should feel pressure,” she says. “I think you should do what’s best for you in a healthy way where you’re going to feel best. I mean, look, we’re all different shapes and sizes. We can’t change our skeletal makeup to look like somebody else. I do think you should be happy with who you are and unique with who you are. That’s what’s going to get you further.”

These days, her life is a dream come true thanks to Entourage.

“I’ve been a fan of the show for a long time, and it’s been fun to spoof myself, and now that I’m going back, it’s fun to come up with ideas … almost creating this character. I share a name, and that’s pretty much it. Everything is very different.”

How does she compare to her character?

“I find the girls that play the good girls all the time tend to be a little more naughtier in real life, and the girls who play the naughty girls tend to be nicer. I’m not as naughty as I’m playing – definitely, we don’t share the same choice of words – but yeah. It’s a playful, fun, different departure for me, and it just pokes fun at what people’s idea is of me a little bit and now getting to develop the character and develop her own arc is a lot of fun.”

On the way out, we pick up a Jurlique gift bag that includes the brand’s lavender hydrating mist, lavender hand cream and calendula cream, which is a sensitive skin-restoring moisturizer.

It’s been a great day in the gift bag department: I stopped by the Spanx lounge, and picked up goodies the stars swear by and learned some trade secrets about how to make an outfit look more flattering. Nice!

Jamie Lynn Sigler: “It’s Never Bad To Be Single In The Summer!”

June 27th, 2008

It sounds like Jamie Lynn Sigler doesn’t have too many regrets about splitting from her boyfriend!

The Sopranos star ended her two-year relationship with New York club owner Scott Sartiano back in April to move out to LA for her career.

She told OK! that she’s been getting over the break-up with a little help from her friends.

And the 27-year-old even said that she’s enjoying being single for the summer.

At the premiere of Glamour magazine’s Reel Docs movie in New York, we asked the actress, who’s shooting a new film Son of Mourning, how she liked single life.

"Well, I’ve been single before," she said, "and I have supportive friends and I’m enjoying my life.

"And, you know, it’s never bad being single for the summer!"

No More Jersey for Jamie-Lynn Sigler

June 6th, 2008

It looks like you can take the Jersey out of Jamie-Lynn Sigler! The Sopranos star (and Long Island native) has vacated her apartment in NYC and is moving to L.A.

“I’m working on a couple episodes of a TV show that I can’t tell you about!” the 27-year-old actress told OK! at The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Engraving Studio Opening Party.

And now that she’s single and ready to mingle, having recently split from nightlife entrepreneur Scott Sartiano, Jamie-Lynn also plans to live with one of her best friends. “It’s the end of another chapter in my life, but I enjoy the idea of new beginnings.”

The doting daughter brought her father, Steve Sigler, to the event, but hasn’t yet decided what to get him for Father’s Day. “My brother just had a baby boy, so we’re all preoccupied. That was the biggest gift.”

Mariah Rubs Off On Nick Cannon

May 26th, 2008

Newlywed Nick Cannon has developed Mariah itis judging by his three-hours-late appearance at Operation Smile’s Fifth Annual Smile Event held at Skylight Studios in NYC. (Mariah Carey is notoriously running behind – she was 11 hours late for interviews to promote her new album E=MC2.)

Around 8:30 p.m., Mariah’s bodyguard, dressed in a dapper white jacket, begins scoping out the scene. He’s pacing the street. Photogs crack that she could walk – she lives nearby.

But when her new hubby Nick finally arrives, he makes it all worth it. How is he feeling? “I’m good,” he beams, smiling from ear-to-ear. I’ve talked to Nick on so many red carpets over the years. He’s lapping up the attention.

Operation Smile ambassador Jessica Simspon can’t be here tonight because she celebrating Ashlee’s nups, but gal pal Jamie Lynn Sigler brings her pregnant sister-in-law Whitney and bro Mark. And, it’s Jamie Lynn’s birthday! “I slept in really, really late,” she tells me. “I got a huge balloon bouquet from my girlfriends back in L.A. It was a surprise. I got a lot of nice e-mails and phone calls. Birthdays are a nice time to catch up with people you haven’t spoken to in awhile. Later I’ll meet up with some friends.”

Donald Trump tells me he got into trouble with NBC for saying he’d like O.J. Simpson to appear on the next Celebrity Apprentice, which starts taping in October. “I wouldn’t say NBC was thrilled,” he admits.

And it’s a special night for his son, Donald Jr., who is here with wife Vanessa.

“It’s funny because a year ago at this event, on the red carpet Vanessa went into labor,” Ivanka’s brother tells me. “It’s a pretty special time for us, coming back here. Last year at this time, she was literally about to explode and literally almost exploded on this red carpet.”

Their baby girl, Kai, recently celebrated her birthday. “We had a big party for her and her 25 – I didn’t know babies had – friends. Her 25 closest friends. Vanessa set up a Mickey and Minnie Mouse-themed party. She had a lot of fun. She’s getting big and growing well.”

What are playdates like for the kids of The Donalds? “They hang around and drool on each other and play. Barron’s a year-and-a-half older, so there’s still a bit of an age gap.”

Tinsley Mortimer, sister Dabney Mercer, former Pussycat Doll Carmit Bachar and Olivia Palermo strut through. Turns out, Olivia considers Mariah a neighbor. “She lives right next door,” she tells me. “We’re happy to have her in the neighborhood.”

The Trumps call it a night before – voila – Mariah shows up. She lovingly looks on as her new hubby DJs tunes including her song Fantasy

Pick up the OK! out now for more coverage of the Operation Smile Event. Angelina Jolie: Four Weeks To Go! is the cover line.

Stars celebrate Thanksgiving with parade, family and food

For Thanksgiving, being with family is the top priority on every celeb’s list.

“I am doing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, so I will be in New York,” Jordin Sparks tells me. “And then, right after I perform, I’m hopping on a plane and going home so I can spend time with my family and eat and watch football.”

Joey Fatone plans to watch the parade with his family in NYC.

Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford will go back to Dallas to see his family. “We’ll do a lot of eating, and maybe watch the Cowboys football game,” he says.

Heidi Klum tells me she will be celebrating her son Johan’s first birthday. “I’m going to be doing a big turkey with a happy birthday candle on top of the turkey, which I just got at the supermarket. They have those ones where each letter is separate, and they have spikes. It’s going to be sitting on the turkey this year. It’s going to be a funny turkey.”

Jessica Alba can’t wait to eat candied yams and mashed potatoes; Georgina Chapman wants to drink champagne; Ashanti is dreaming of fried turkey, cabbage, corn bread, rice and peas; Chris Brown is dreaming of turkey and yams.

“Picking the pieces off the turkey before it actually gets onto the platter” is something Jason Lewis looks forward to all year.

“I love the cranberry sauce from the jar,” Jamie Lynn Sigler says. “I love that. I live for it. My family only gets it for me because nobodyy else eats it, but that’s my favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal.”

Reba McEntire tells me she’ll wear an apron this year. “I have a hamburger bean dish and Mexican cornbread that I like to cook. That’s my contribution. Not very Thanksgivingishy, but I like it.”

“I like to make dessert,” Mya says. “I make apple blueberry pie every Thanksgiving. I make it with fresh apples and blueberries – that’s actually the filling. Brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg. That’s really great.”

“I make pumpkin pie and apple pie,” Abigail Breslin says. “My mom taught me how to do that. Usually we get pumpkin stuffed in a can at the store and put it in and make it. She’s a good cook.”

Everyone loves to watch the Macy’s parade.

“I do the cooking, and our good friends, my goddaughter and her family, come over,” Deborah Norville tells me. “Sometimes we get a third family, but it’s always the same two families. I’m in my pajamas all morning, and I’m cooking. I time my dinner based on where the Macy’s parade is. If Santa Claus is coming across the finish line and certain things haven’t happened? Then we’re late. The turkey’s not going to be ready, the sweet potatoes are going to be mushy, something will go wrong. I have to pace myself on the Santa Claus parade.”
