Melissa Forgives The Bachelor

March 10th, 2009

Apparently, all’s well that ends well… if it ends with a new reality TV gig, that is.

After The Bachelor star Jason Mesnick dumped Melissa Rycroft on national TV for a chance with runner-up Molly, fans were outraged. Melissa’s moving on, however, nabbing a gig on Dancing With the Stars in the wake of orginal contestant Jewel’s injury.

Jason’s already said sorry as well, including sending a message via Extra saying, “I apologize from the bottom of my heart….But I am very happy for you right now and I know you’re in a place you want to be.”

And after Melissa’s well-received debut on DWTS last night, she’s got a message of her own for her ex: You’re not the only one with a new love!

“I accept the apology," she tells Extra. "Forgive, forget. I’m moving on. And I’m away from that situation, in a new relationship and a new life really.”

Aww, snap!

The Bachelor’s Ex on DWTS

March 9th, 2009

The reality hits keep on coming when it comes to alums of The BachelorMelissa Rycroft, ex-fiancee of Jason Mesnick, will be joining the cast of Dancing With the Stars this season.

So is Jason jealous of his ex’s success after he broke up with her? Nope.

"I am so excited for Melissa, I know she has danced her whole life and she must be excited for the opportunity," he tells Extra. "I hope and think she will win it all."

Hopefully this time around, for her sake, she’ll get to keep it all forever.

Bachelor’s Melissa Speaks Up

March 4th, 2009

It’s time to stop feeling bad for Melissa Rycroft, the woman Bachelor Jason Mesnick left on national TV for another woman. Despite losing her fiancé to Molly, Melissa is thankful to fans of the show and says she’s doing just fine.

In the statement she also explains why she decided not to look for love again on The Bachelorette, saying she’s done with reality TV for now.

Read the full statement below:

"Although I could not be here, I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive throughout this process. This has been such an overwhelming experience, and I really do appreciate the support system behind me. This was definitely one of those experiences that changes your life, and makes you so much more aware of who you are and what you want out of life.

Strange as it may sound, I am doing really well. I’m back in Dallas, pursuing the teaching thing, and attempting to get my life back to normal (if it was every really normal to begin with). I still have my same life mottos: Live life with no regrets, and keep smiling no matter what happens.

I’m in such a good place in my life right now, and I really couldn’t be happier. I don’t regret anything that happened over the past few months; because I know I wouldn’t be where I am today had none of it happened. I have, however, decided to move on from my reality television days, and get some sense of normalcy back to my life. As wonderful of an experience as The Bachelorette would be, I think it’s time for me to move on from my television days, and see what my future holds back in Dallas. I have no doubt it will be an amazing experience for whoever assumes the role, and I wish them the best of luck! "

Bachelor On-Air Breakup Not Required

March 4th, 2009

To add more fuel to the controversy that has flamed up over Bachelor’s Jason Mesnick breaking up with his fiancee Melissa on-air—and choosing runner-up Molly as his beloved—the show’s executive producer says the televised diss wasn’t in the contract.

"I think he felt an obligation to the show, but there’s no contractual obligation there;  none," Mike Fleiss told reporters during a conference call on Wednesday.

However, Melissa wasn’t totally in the dark when it came to Jason’s feelings for her, as Fleiss says she had an inkling that things were coming to an end.

"They were on the phone every day. They were together and what happened. He had plenty of access to her, but it just wasn’t working out for them," Fleiss explains. "She didn’t know it was about Molly. I think that was the thing that caught her off-guard.

As for why Jason chose to do the deed on TV instead of in private, Fleiss says it was a natural decision.

"It’s a TV show and that was really the defining moment of this series. To not put them on TV seems strange, considering we are making a TV show and these people signed up to do a TV show," he says. "We try to tell a complete story, and to have that go on and not let the viewers be part of it would have been a mistake."

We’re sure that makes Melissa feel a lot better.

The Real Reason Behind DeAnna and Jesse’s Split

February 16th, 2009

Former The Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas is speaking out for the first time about her split with ex-fiance Jesse Csincsak.

Pappas, who chose Jesse over current The Bachelor Jason Mesnick in the show’s final rose ceremony, tells Extra she called off her engagement because, "it came down to two totally different people. I believe we all make mistakes in life and we learn from them. Jason, who has it all together, has everything a woman would want. And then there’s Jesse, who kind of was like a wild card…And for me, I felt like the wild card was going to work out. Someone to keep me on my toes. But eventually it wasn’t what I was attracted to anymore."

Both Pappas and Jesse seem to have moved on. Jesse is now seeing The Bachelor: London Calling alum Holly Durst. "Jesse and Holly met while we were seeing each other," Pappas admits.

But don’t think this bachelorette is crying into her pillow every night! Pappas is the new host of Lifetime’s Get Married and she recently took a trip down memory lane, surprising Jason Meznick on The Bachelor during his fantasy dates!

Of the surprise reunion Pappas says, "It is worth the wait. I believe that it’s going to resolve some issues for myself and possibly some viewers."

As for what he thought of the whole situation, Mesnick says, "Of course it threw me off. I fell in love with her and I went through my healing process. And she’s the last person I expected to see, especially in New Zealand."

Oh, the drama!

Extra’s interview airs tonight!

Bachelor Jason Mesnick Engaged

January 5th, 2009

Ahead of the premiere of the 13th season of the ABC hit series, The Bachelor’s Jason Mesnick says he has become engaged to one of the women who competed for his love on the reality show, set to air on Monday.

Mesnick, 32, is a single dad who made it to the final rose ceremony on the season finale of The Bachelorette. After DeAnna Pappas sent him packing for snowboarder Jesse Csincsak (the couple has since parted ways), Mesnick decided to try his own luck on the show as The Bachelor – something he now says has made him empathetic towards Pappas.

Mesnick says his choice of a future bride also had to suit the other person in his life – his 3-year-old son, Tyler. The handsome accountant says he consulted his son’s pediatrician and a psychologist before exposing him to the show’s unique situation and any separation involved.

”He’s always in the forefront of my mind,” Mesnick said.

The Bachelor can’t keep love a secret

January 5th, 2009

The Bachelor kicks off tonight for its 13th season!

Jason Mesnick, a single dad who was rejected at the last rose ceremony by (once again single!) Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas, is now in the driver’s seat as 25 gals vie to win his love.

We already know that one did. Jason announced last December that he’s engaged to one of his lovely Bachelor ladies.

I’m all for finding love in 2009 (and I plan to: Feel free to send in your suggestions!). But with the Bachelor’s track record, 0 – in – 13, I had to know if Jason was worried that his declaration would be D.O.A. before the show even got underway!

“This question comes to me in every single interview or any conversation I’m having. And I say, ‘How can I not be open and honest about that,’” Jason declared to me.

Simply put, the accountant from Seattle, Wash., knew he’d have a hard time keeping his mouth shut about being head over heels in love as the show aired.

“If I had to swallow the fact that I’m extremely happy and I’m in love and I’m engaged for this long, there’s no way I could do that,” he admitted.

Awww, so sweet! I really works it works out for Jason and his mystery fiancée!

The Bachelor, season 13, premieres Monday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

TV RECAP: Jeremy Sisto, Keifer Sutherland and Sasha Fierce!

November 21st, 2008

After a whirlwind trip to Ireland (sorry, no The TudorsJonathan Rhys Meyers sightings!), it was back to the event circuit here in chilly NYC!

Newly crowned America’s Next Top Model McKey Sullivan stopped by the office to tell me all about her new reign on the catwalk. Check back here Monday for our knockout interview.

On Monday at the 2nd Annual Adrienne Shelly Foundation Fundraising Gala, held on the New York University campus, Law & Order’s Jeremy Sisto told me that his new TV gig has "been fun, though I’m not sure I’d be a good detective in real life." He then proceeded to find the after party for a bunch of clueless reporters. Looks like the job is rubbing off on you after all, Det. Lupo! Law & Order airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.

Beyonce was pretty Sasha Fierce at Gotham magazine’s gala, held in the mammoth space known as, well, Espace, on Tuesday night, and she graciously thanked me when I told her so.

Also on hand was The Bachelorette alum Graham Bunn, best known for his volatile relationship with the single-again bachelorette DeAnna Pappas, who broke up fiancé Jesse Csincsak earlier this month.

Yes, Graham has heard of her split from Jesse. Nope, he’s not available to give love a second try with her. “Fortunately for me, I’m dating a wonderful, beautiful woman, [All My Children’s] Chrishell Stause," said, but he wishes DeAnna all the best.

He’s also excited for fellow Bachelorette alum Jason Mesnick, who starts his Bachelor reign Jan 5 on ABC. “I supported his decision to take the offer,” said Graham. “From what I know, it’s going very well.”

On the red carpet for the World Premiere of 24: Redemption – airing Sunday, Nov 23 at 8 p.m. on Fox – star Kiefer Sutherland clammed up when a reporter tried to ask him about his time in jail.

But I hunted him down to ask if Jack Bauer would have a love interest when the show returns for its seventh season Jan 11.

"The option is there for that," he quipped.

Sly dog!

Until next week, fellow fanatics.

Meet ABC’s New Bachelor!

August 20th, 2008

He was sent home crushed after DeAnna Pappas rejected his proposal on last season’s finale of The Bachelorette. But now Jason Mesnick is getting a new chance at love–with 25 ladies of his own to choose from!

Set to air in January 2009, Mesnick will star as The Bachelor in ABC’s 13th edition of its popluar romantic series.

The 32-year-old single dad is an account executive in estate and legacy planning and says he is looking for a woman who has a real curiosity about the world and who can find passion in life’s smallest moments.

Jason became a huge viewer favorite during the chase to win DeAnna’s heart, and his popularity seemed to skyrocket when he lost out to Jesse Csincsak–now engaged to Pappas. Divorced two years ago and now a single father to son Ty, 3, Mesnick says he would like to fall in love again and start another family.

Also a big philanthropist, Jason hopes to someday run his own children’s charity.
