Jermaine Dupri Won’t Party Without Jay Z
March 27th, 2009
Remember in eighth grade, when you wouldn’t go to the sleepover if your BFF wasn’t going too?
Well it seems Jermaine Dupri still rolls like that.
On March 25, Rocawear threw a party at NYC hotspot, Greenhouse, to launch it’s new Web site, Roc4Life.com.
But while the celebrity crowd sipped Grey Goose cocktails in the club, it turned out Roca head honcho Jay Z couldn’t make it to the bash.
Meanwhile, the Grammy-winning producer and his girlfriend Janet Jackson pulled up outside the SoHo lounge ready to party – but had a sudden change of heart when they heard the Jiggaman was not in the building.
“Jermaine was outside in his car, but didn’t come in because Jay Z wasn’t there,” said a source at the party.
So the pair split, without even setting foot outside the car.
Maybe they had just decided they were hungry – since they were later spotted chowing down at trendy restaurant, The Waverly Inn.

Whitney Port’s new The Hills spinoff, The City, crashed Jermaine Dupri’s 36th b-day party at Tenjune in NYC Sept. 23.
Whitney skipped the red carpet and snuck past the line of partygoers waiting to get in the soiree. She hung out at a table with a few friends in the backroom of the club wherec amera crews had set up shop and producers had clearance waivers on hand if needed.

"She wasn’t dancing and looked bored," a source tells OK!. "I don’t think she was even there to celebrate Jermaine’s birthday. She never went into the main room where the party was because the cameras weren’t allowed to shoot there."
Although Whitney was seen canoodling last week with former fling Ben Lyons, and his Wikipedia page still says "He is currently dating Whitney Port," a source close to the star tells OK!, "They are definitely not together and Whitney is single."
Other celebs at Tenjune were Jermaine’s longtime love, Janet Jackson, Ice-T and his voluptuous wife, Coco, Ne-yo and Busta Ryhmes.

Jermaine Dupri, Russell Simmons Give Success Tips
September 2nd, 2008
During Tag Records Survival Of The Freshest Tour Launch Party for new artist Q held at Rucker Park in Harlem, I meet Jermaine Dupri, Russell Simmons and Q on the tour bus decked out with white sofas, a laptop station, lighted mirrors and flat-screen TVs.
A fruit plate filled with strawberries, bananas, caneloupe, melon and pineapple beckons.
I take a seat with Jermaine, Russell and Q.
Did Janet Jackson’s man ever dream he’d get this far?
“Me? Yes!” Jermaine exclaims. “When I was younger, I always had a person to follow, and that was this man right here. [Points to Russell] I watched what he was doing, and I figured if he could do it, I could do it. I ain’t never did it like him but I’m on my pace.”
Russell says, “It is maybe true that he saw me do something and maybe I inspired him, but then I sat back and watch him and he’s my inspiration. That’s how things have shifted.”
Jermaine continues, “As hip-hoppers and music people in general, we’ve always got people that we look up to and admire. That’s one thing that the young kids today – they pay attention to the wrong things. You’ve gotta find somebody who’s really out there doing what they’re supposed to be doing. It’ll help you get out and do what you want to do.”
What advice does Russell have for achieving greatness?
“Realize that it’s much easier operating from your strengths to quiet the inside as opposed to let all the noise control you,” he tells me.”
He continues, “You have to recognize that the only goal in life is to be comfortable in your seat. You’re only here for a second, and you’re here to be happy. When you understand that, it makes it easier to get through what people perceive as struggle. You go out there, they keep giving you more, and you keep giving back more. There’s nothing else you can do in life. There’s always more. That’s the human condition. Try to get past that as much as you can.”
“I learned that,” Russell says. “I used to wake up and think what I wanted to give, but in the back of my mind, I thought I was thinking what I wanted to get. I had to be giving in order to get. I must’ve got ahead by having a giving attitude. When you realize that’s the real path, you don’t have to worry about what you’re going to get.”
One thing Russell is taking: Ten Tag body sprays, please. Jermaine gives back by autographing a shoe.
Shots Fired At Jermaine Dupri Party
August 4th, 2008
Things got a little hairy at a celeb-packed bash thrown by Jermaine Dupri over the weekend.
Apparently Diddy, Usher and Nelly were all partying the launch party for his So So Def Summerfest weekend on Friday night, according to MSNBC.
But sometime around 3.30am Saturday morning an argument between door staff and guests at Club Dreams in Atlanta, Ga., got out of hand and shots were fired.
One of the bouncers caught a bullet in his arm, but was released from hospital later the same day.
“I’m sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party,” Dupri said in a statement released to Access Hollywood.
“I’m happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues.”
Apparently the fight started because door staff double-charged someone to get in.
